Yes, you can only create a map thread after you have added the map to your profile.

If the map is a work in progress I would strongly recommend making a map thread asap as long as you have some actual work done. Getting feedback from the members her as soon as possible will make the map much better ... as long as you are open to criticism and suggestions. Neither of which should be negatively-detrimental, of course.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

What's most important is that you do search. If you don't find anything it's certainly not stupid to ask.

Welcome to the boards, RedWood!

PS: You can create a map-thread in the forums linked to the map profile. It's one of the options when you add a new map profile.

Given how godawful the Halo 1 multiplayer levels were, Bungie is the last group I'd ask for mapping advice.

Its not that the multiplayer maps sucked (I still enjoy fragging on
Hang em' High, and playing CTF on blood gultch), its that its for an
entirely different game. Halo != Half Life.

I wouldn't be complaining if I had enjoyed them in Halo, would I?

Besides, there are certain general tenants of level design that are relevant in any FPS. Many of the Halo maps had bad flow, constricted areas, lack of cover, dead ends, etc. The map where you can't go ten feet without going through a teleporter has to rank among the worst game levels I've ever had the displeasure of playing. I wanted to find the mapper who made that map and f**king throttle him. The two vehicle maps were pretty bad, too, once people learned how to whore them.

I was sick of Halo multiplayer after a week, I have no idea why people liked it so much.

Like any game it had it's bad levels. Many of the levels are spectacular for the way the game plays. Much of the game is how well u can do against one or more people on a flat unprotected surface. not that u run into that to often (except on hangemhigh) and i can't even think of a level with a dead end. Half Life 2 DeathMach and halo are so different in game play they don't translate. If u copied Blood Gulch directly to HLDM it probably be the worst map u ever played. Same for lockdown.

Yeah, that's pretty much me, Omega! I hate everything! Though it's not like I didn't give specific criteria on why I didn't like the maps.

You forgot to quote the next line

My god, kill boxes and the people who make them suck. The first time i played hldm i was waiting forever to download those s**tty maps. Almost every server i joined was a kill box. I stopped playing because of it. It was months before i gave it anther try.
