                        Hmm, i recall reading at one point that wavs needed to be 11 kHz, however this was many moon ago.                         Go find an ambient_generic that you know works from one of your previous maps.
Copy and paste it into your current map.
Set it's properties up like ya want..just rename your old one to the current one's properties.
It will work.  I've been using the same ambient_generic over and over and it hasn't failed me yet.

                        11 or 22 is standard I believe. 22 is 'high quality' for half-life. I have never had a problem using either.
changing it the 11 isn't really an option, as music sounds horrible at that quality.
