It's an entirely non-geeky topic, so I don't know whether any of you can help me on this, but it doesn't hurt to try.

My wife had given me so many cool gifts in the past (including FarCry, Radeon 9800 Pro, "Raising the Bar" book, bringing me to IGN Live etc), that I feel bad not able to come up with good things to give her for the holiday.

Perhaps it's easier to think of gifts for a super-geek like me. She exercises a lot, primarily running. I've already gotten her running shoes, hat, GPS tracking device, and other running gears. Maybe I can give her a pair of weight lifting gloves this year. But can anyone think of anything else to give her?

She doesn't like jewelry, doesn't like clothes, doesn't wear makeups or perfumes. In short, she doesn't like any of the typical girly stuff. She already has an iPod and a boombox.

Maybe I can get her a book related to guitar, since we're both learning how to play right now...

I hope she doesn't snoop at the SnarkPit and find out what I am getting her.

If she's a runner, you should get her leg weights. Maybe a camel pack (not sure if that's meant to be capitalized) but maybe not, I just think they're cool. A MP3 player while she's running along might be nice.
One day you'll know what you're talking about, I can hardly imagine

Sounds like a fun girl to be around :dodgy:

But seriously, for stuff like this I try to listen to them and take note of anything they might mention they want. For example, a friend once complained their MP3 player was too old/small, so I got them a new one. Has she mentioned anything like that?

Failing that, something you can do together might be nice. She went with you to IGN Live, maybe take her somewhere she likes. A concert, perhaps.

On a similar note . .i need a present for my girlfriend. i'm thinking of giving her one of my computers we have LOADS but the one i painted myself.

I just dont think as a christmas present , that'll mean so much apart from the point that i painted it , alas , similarly she enjoys watching me , but she's not huge on the gameplaying .

She doesn't like lots of girly things , but she does like earrings and hats.

Christmas budget for now = 20$

i have to get presents for her friends as well =,

I'm 16 and without a job

and she got me diablo 2 for my birthday.

she's very religious like me and possibly might like such jewlery we met on a mission trip

As for Satch
ideas-
throw in a fancy pretty guitar pick that might have some connection to your relationship in the stocking ;p

Iskins are popular , they prevent the ipod from getting broken from water or being jarred around - gift idea

guitar book would be nice too ;D

I've never been a huge fan of the material gifts, unless there is some
sort of personal connection or meaning behind it. I'm a proponent
of buying tickets to something both of you can enjoy. Well it
doesn't have to be tickets, it could be a surprise trip... or
whatever. Basically it should be an experience both of you can
share. I mean -- you may already do this on a regular basis, but
if not -- maybe you could do that.

I've been buying my mates some silly gifts this year - stuff like
stupid posters (Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, Wolf from "Gladiators" -
everybody's favourites!), silly little toys (pirate rubber ducks!),
crap DVDs ("Ninja Dragon" in particular looks hilariously bad), s**tty
mousemats (Mark and Steve Sloan from Diagnosis Murder! AWESOME!), and
the like. If your wife and you have some silly joke or joint "love" for
something crappy, you might consider looking for some unexpected link
to it for a laugh. It's hardly something special, but good stocking
filler

sounds like a very giving kind of girl....thats a tough one.....i just bought my wife a 25th anniversary ring, and i keep second guessing myself as to the "size doesnt matter" issue...

a guitar book might be just the ticket for the two of you.....and in that case, may i suggest a copy of "totally guitar: the definitive guide" .... its loaded with history, facts, prints, charts theory, etc etc etc....great coffee table book for a musician, or an entheusiast....

Dude, write her a poem of how much she means to you. Then get her one
of them cool magnet bracelets have the poem wrapped in the bracelet,
like it s holding it like a clasp.

That is gift part one. this is part 2: She sounds like a outdoors
type.. if you have a way to look at the stars near by, take her there,
and capture the moon for her, part of that is buy her some land on the
moon.. we always tell women we would give them the moon, prove it and
do so.. ( http://www.moonestates.com/index2.asp )

if thats not enough get her a star in her name.. http://www.starregistry.com/ and while at the planeterium have them locate it.

make sure the poem ties this all together.. women like stuff like this because it shows your inner feelings and thoughts.

Also listen to her wants, like another person had said.. women give clues here and there.

I don't know about buying real estate on the moon, but a night of
romantic stargazing sounds like it could work well if you can show that
you put some serious thought, planning, and effort into it.

Also, that star idea is pretty money, uhhh... moneyshot.

Yeah.. you could tell her how you would give her the stars and moon,
and then hand her the paper showing your a man of your word.. and then
gaze deep in her eyes and say.. the Stars can never compair to the
beauty of your eyes. I could loose myself in your gaze all night. then
a series of small kisses around her neck and cheak and ear area with a
nose kiss ( eskimo kiss ) to show the romatic side. then you can
swallow tounges and get dirty afterwards.. lol. but really make the
whole night about her.. not you. be there for her in every way. She has
to feel like there is no one else in this world but her. That is the
best gift you can give any women.

Give her love. Because that's really all she wants. That and you to be happy, obviously.

If what she enjoys is doing things with you, you should focus on that.

I could suggest stuff ... but I don't think it would help since I know nothing of your wife ... besides the fact that she's married to you.

Yeah, we haven't done things together for a while now, since my work is so hectic lately.

I think doing something together is a good idea. Now, all I have
to do is to come up with that "something"... Something romantic.

[EDIT] We might go to a museum together (The
Getty Center
). That was the same museum we went to on our
first date.

Doing it in an alley behind a run down bar.

Take her to the "theater" if you can. Like, a show, not a movie. Dinner. You know, basically all the stuff you did to get in her pants in the first place.

Or you could just tell her you'll do anything she wants for a day or something like that. The sky is the limit. No seriously, you could go in a baloon or something.

It's a guy thing.

Get her a pair of dirty underwear from the underwear bins at Spend-Mart.

Hehe but that spoils the whole point of gifts
Mind you I have to tell my parents what games I would like or they'd buy me a golf game or something.

Personally just ask her what sort of things would interest her because it's hard to please someone with gifts unless you truely know them.
