<DIV id=post_message_138983>Hey all!

This is a mass release for me so Im telling all. After much work tonight I have successfully made a music video for D3 with Pink Floyd's hit Comfortly Numb. Why Pink Floyd you ask well its simple really. I see Doom3 not just as a action game but a tragity storywise and I think that alot of Pink's music sounds eaither sad or tragic. Anyway go check it out for self here:

i dont know, maybe it's because i know the song too well, while never having played Doom, but the story in the song doesn't seem to fit too good for me.

good overall effort though.

a week earlier, and i could have used it in a machinima report that i wrote.

Kinda mellow for Doom 3 don't you think? Did you ever see that music video using G-man to sing it? That was good, learn from it.

I thought this was really well done actually. You did a great job of matching the video to the song.

Parts I particularly liked:

The shot of the guy struggling with the doctors while Pink Floyd sings "relax..."

The way you cut to the spacecraft when he's singing about "ships"

The part right after the explosive barrels explode and he sings
"pinprick" there's this scream in the song that you matched up
perfectly with the in game footage of the guy tied up.

Also -- the lip syncing parts were done pretty well.

I liked all the sweeping shots of the complex and the hallways in the beginning.

The only thing, you may want to correct the spelling of the title. Its comfortably numb.

Thanks ATM, I had that distant ship and the hall flying in mind before I ever started on it. I know that Im kinda wierd so I can understand if think the song doesnt match. But remimber that with this video I was tring to touch on the more sad side of the game. For example all the people that died, thats why it showed dieing people so many times. Im glad that you thought the lip syncing was good, I didnt even try to have lip syncing lol. But anyway thanks for watching it makes it worth it.

P.S OMG I spelled it wrong!? Crap!

Wait no it's not, It says Pink Floyd - Comfortly numb right on my music file.

Well first off, "comfortly" isn't a word. Whoever tagged your mp3 misspelled it.

It's listed as "comfortably numb" here:

http://www.virginmegastores.co.uk/invt/452668

And here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000006TRV/qid=1134933437/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-6143154-6925446?v=glance&s=music

Anyway, good job on the video. Did you get fraps to work?

holy s**t.

half dude.

i have newfound respect for you kid. well done.

i enjoyed that piece of work as much as any ive seen, and more than most....

on a technical level, with what yer working with, i thought it was overall excellent. good editing, scene setup, and trasnsitions right in line with the mood and situation. (needed lightening, and that ending.....grr....i was waiting for the big blaring light as the door opens....and i get a worm hole... )

the symbolism ala storyline vs. songlyrics i thought was incredible, something i must agree with the rest on, id never have thought it possble to do a pink floyd/ doom3 mix nicely, but ya pulled it off.....

bravo. you may be on to a skill here young man.

Doc Brasso...

btw, all you gents who didnt see the work produced here in its intentioned fashion are deaf, and/or mute, and/or dumber'n s**t...****runs like hell :heee:

I didn't say the song didn't fit as such, I merely said that Doom 3 is more of a heavy metal genre, based on the action. A game more suited to Pink Floyd would be perhaps System Shock, or some spacey game like Homeworld 2.

there have been a few covers, most notable, for all the wrong reasons, was the techno version.

i watched the vid twice more, and came to the conclusion that it's some sort of infection that's doing the rounds. if so, if would've been perfect if the guy talking at 45 seconds had a voice dubbed in, explaining a little bit about it. it would've gone perfectly with the line just before it, about needing just the basic information, which is probably why the guy happens to be there talking anyway.

Nicely done video. It matches the music well for the most part, but the video during the first guitar solo seems a bit out of place. The credits also need some tweaking (its pushing letters onto the next line when it shouldnt, you should probably use a smaller font for the URL).

What did you use to edit it?

That'd be a good idea once they implement the cinematic effects...

You'd probably need a team though if you wanted to do any complicated sequences. I'd be happy to help.

sequencies eh? that's them glittery things that's sewed into my nice pyjamas. :sailor:

honestly, they don't need to be remotely complicated for me to need a team.

With only 2 people we could do an amusing short where a soldier falls
asleep in the heat of battle and wakes up to find himself all alone in
the map... it seems everyone changed maps and forgot to wake him.
He runs around scared looking for people (kind of like a lost child in
a mall) and then finally... he wakes up again, or finds everyone was
just hiding from him and they start fragging once more... and all is
right in the world. And we can end with him getting shot and
being glad to be back in the action.

Or that's just a terrible idea and I have no idea why I just typed it all out and pressed submit.
