I keep meaning to try that out. I played Introversion's other game uplink. Uplink is such a cool and inovative game.

I think I might try it out and buy it. The game looked pretty cool. Different.

Yeh sorry about that was a little drunk at the time.

But what I ment was that I thourght about buying it a few months ago
when I saw it in my local Game shop but I didn't and I forgot all about
it and now I think I'll get it second hand as it will only be a few
pounds. It will also be cheaper than what Valve wants for it now they
have re-released it on steam.

I just finished the demo. I have to say I really liked the idea of Action type RTS game-play, but as the game went on it got very, very, tiresome. I thought it was really well made towards the beginning ... but after trying to command those little bastards ... with other slow bastards ... it became very annoying. I don't think I'll buy it, but it is pretty fun ... just not worth my money, I'm afraid.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I liked the demo as well. I expected the game to be very abstract, and granted, it does look like it, but it plays like a combination of FPS movement and RTS commanding. I felt the controls were somewhat cumbersome now and then, though, but it played nicely. I think it's a nice little funny game, quite different from what I'm used to. Maybe I'll pick it up, though I'm not getting a Mastercard or such unless I'm planning to buy more over the internet, which I'm probably not doing in the near future.

I bought it after playing the demo, it gets pretty challenging at times, but is a good play for a level at a time. The controls are super simple once you use the shortcuts a few times, then you can whip out commands like nothing. You can have as many officers as you want, just make sure you have a task manager slot free otherwise you can't create one. I usually have a few stationary officers and right click while they're selected on the area you want them to 'force' the regular Darwinians in, I then have one or two that I roam around who have the original officer(s) as their right click focus so it makes a chain.

It's customary on the snarkpit, or at least I think it is, to post a link referring people who haven't heard of the game to screenshots and/or info on the game...

people that still use steam will find it on their 'games' list.

I fear turning Steam on for the updating so, can anyone clue me in on what this is?

Perhaps a few screens or something?

No fair, using my own words against me.

Duncan, searching will not produce compressed images. I was hoping that someone here that CARES might post some.

I downloaded and played a bit of it today. Interestingly, it took less time to download an entire game than it did to update CS:Source.

Its certainly different, seems fun. I'm still in the tutorial, I'll play a bit more soon.

As I said, I like to think it customary for people to post info about a game when they show it- it takes less effort for 1 person to search google for info and images than it does for 2914 or so members (not that 99% of them will look, but you get the idea).

Alright then. Darwinia is a new game being released over Steam. Its probably best described as an RTS, but its fully 3D, and the camera is controlled like in an FPS. You have little creatures called Darwinians, which you indirectly command through officers, which you give instructions to, and who in turn instruct the darwinians.

If you really need a direct link to the screenshots page, its at http://www.darwinia.co.uk/about/screenshots.html

Engineers look like those things from Tron.
