Heheh, I remember that review from a long while back  What an awesomely bad game that truly appears to be. Take a look at the video review they have posted too - some of the comments sound too bad to be true, but they back it up with video evidence

The video of the truck clipping through EVERYTHING is unbelievable.

I wonder if the programmers / design team go home satisfied with their lives/job at the end of the day.

I'm sure they don't care, since they got a paycheck.

Seriously, it's the same avenue as terrible movies .... Why is Willem Defoe in xXx 2? I'm betting it's something like, "Hey, I'd really like to buy that new Mercedes ... Hmm ... I guess I'll do this movie". I think Paul Walker is one of the only individuals to go, "Man, this sounds like a magnificent story, the plot is so thick and intricate ... of course Mr. Moritz I'd really like to be in that car movie". Then I'm sure there's also times like, "OOoo! Money!".

I'm sure they're not losing sleep over it, especially because ... well ... the development coordinators would tell you what to create ... and there are people to test the quality etc. So, they would have known full well. Chances are that game got scrapped a little too early, and the company is trying to cut their losses by lying on the packaging.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Oh joy, a viciously derailed thread and a really bad trucking game.

I'd actually say the textures aren't too bad looking -- but that's
it. The trucks are a joke, and the clipping issue absolutely blew
my mind. Theoretically, wouldn't it cost more to package out and
ship a crap game rather than to just let it die?

The only descent truck game was 18 wheeler; but the huge issue with that was that you could cross-country in about 15 minutes

Orph... I really like lo-mein noodles. Almost better than rice. You spent too much time in 'Nam.

Big Mutha Trucka's, by any chance? That thing is one of the most commonly bundled games with graphics cards about 4 years ago I think  I got a copy with my 6600GT just last year too  Haven't played it, but I think it was actually regarded as one of the best truck racing games...whatever that's worth!

Isn't lo mein those greasy noodles? If so I like lo mein a lot. I love a good bowl of ramen too. I think I'll make a bowl after this post. Rice is good, but it all depends on what goes with the rice.

I saw this game on some show on G4 a while back. A net loss for teh world. I could say more but it's already been said. I'd like to see the gameplay footage but I refuse to use fileplanet.

.... Curry (sp?) is good with rice. One time I went to a sushi place and had curry chicken with steamed rice as my main course and good sushi on the side. HEB makes some pretty good sushi, and it's a lot cheaper than going to a sushi place.

.... k I'll stop

Oh man, I saw the review on Xplay a long time ago, and now that you reminded me of this game I think I want it.

I'd really love to play this game, for just the laughs. Me and my friends could spend maybe a whole $15 and get such a bad game that it makes us laugh.

I found an old N64 game called like "Road Rash" in my attic. But anyway, it was like a biker game where you race. It was almost as bad as this. There was the same old thing over and over again, then you might hit a city which was about 6 buildings spread apart. And if you turned not as tight as you needed to, you hit the end of the map which was just an inivisble wall. You could even see the invisible wall behind the buldings if you went slow enough  .

Here is a ROM of it for those who have emulators.

Road Rash is hardly as bad as this game, even if there are poor incarnates. Also, just checking, but are you sure the poor clipping isn't because it's an emulated game? I've ran into a lot of poorly transfered games where the people transfering them didn't transfer the entire game, even if all the graphics are there. Paper Mario is an example of this.

There isnt any really poor clipping issues with Road Rash (i have the cartridge and played it on the N64 as well as the emulator). The review of the BIg Rigs thing is where the poor clipping is. That is a PC game, not an emulated game.

I am downloading it now to see how bad this game really is.

I'm well aware of what you said and what this thread is about.

If you imply a game is "Almost as bad" as some other game, you would intuitively compare the worst features ... poor clipping is probably the worst "feature" in the game.

Repetitive environments in a limited memory system is hardly as bad. Especially when the entire point of Road Rash is to stop other bikers from competing

You know, I get really annoyed sometimes when you 'bash' consoles, but then I realize ... you're like the general television audience, you don't want anything new just the same old crap over and over again.

New and different things scare and confuse you, don't they?

Note: Road Rash is fun because you beat the other cyclists up ... with lead pipes. The actual racing aspect is very poorly done and isn't even close to being the focus of that series of games.

I laugh, a deep belly buster type laugh. Consoles are at least, if not older than PC games so your point is invalid sir. Secondly, new doesn't always mean better. Check out your quote of me, its full of that gobbledygook from fire fox. Now, who's head is harder? You know that Snarkpit isn't set up to run well on that browser, yet you stubbornly keep using it...

/me continues laughing.

To answer your question: As you know, I own nearly every console machine and I hate driving games, even on PC. I am not completely discriminating against the console.

Then again, when have I ever concerned myself whether you are annoyed are not? That would be a 24/7 job as fickle as you are. :heee:

Actually, that "gobbledygook" is from snarkpit editing a post. (By the way, sp has always done this to me since I've been a member. It's from the dot character, it doesn't know how to handle it. In fact it's probably SQL that's having the issue. )

In addition I'm not using firefox (or IE)

By new, I mean innovation. PC games have almost none (anymore). It's "make it prettier" and that's about it.

Every game is "kill the things" type gameplay. Or level up X character.

It's the same old, run around, kill this, collect that, save them type gameplay. It's getting way too old.

The nice thing in the console realm is that specific hardware can be developed, cheaply, since the hardware the game will be running on is absolute. This allows for games like Odama and Katamari. They're incredibly bizarre games, but fun. (While, yes, you could have microphone functionality in a game, it's not really implemented in anything past basic obvious usage between players) As for Katamari, computers don't have any type of analog control. Sure, there's a mouse, but that's too free moving for the types of gameplay I'm talking about (intuitive gameplay, that is)

There are other nicely innovative games coming out (check out Lost Magic, anybody. It looks sweet) that use tablet control as well. Now, my point is basically that it's not that you can't do these things on a bloated PC machine ... it's just not done. For what reason, I'm not sure, maybe because the games that sell well for computers are the ones that they continue to dabble in: FPS, RTS, MMO. Those are really the only categories when it comes to this medium. Which is sad.

On another note, if anyone gets a chance, try a FPS or RTS on your computer using your tablet, yes it works, and it's very ... interesting.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Three awesomes in but two sentences AtM? Well if that isn't evidence of the game's awesomeness, I don't know what is

Orph - I think Crono was meaning that you are familiar with PC gaming, and so consoles are something new to you.

I should have really clarified that I meant innovation in control. Something that is completley lacking in the PC realm of gaming.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Guys, I just like ragging on you. I don't really want to get into consoles. Its not their content, its my day. I have 24 hours to do everything I want and I already use 26 of them.

Consoles are not new to me. Not by a long shot. I have owned them since I shot my first duck in Nintendo land. In fact, I owned a couple before that, but they only played pong. I have an old intellivision machine someplace in storage.

I also like ragging on the firefox thing. Only because everyone cries incessantly about it, but keeps using it.

The best things in life, aren't things.

We have a winner

The main reason for firefox use (atleast me) is the nice "tabs"
function it has, so I don't have to have 52 billion windows open just
to flip between sites, and it's also pretty darn safe and blocks more
pop ups than most pop up blockers.
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

Internet Explorer 7 has the ability to use tabs. I have the beta running on my mums laptop as she preffers Microsoft stuff.

Firefox is still better though. I'm not to fond of the new look to IE either it seems to crushed together and they hide the thingy bar with file, edit and the like on it then when you enable it, it appears below the address bar. It make the window look messy to me, like my 3 year old niece has had a fun few minuites messing with the mouce.
