The obligatory politics thread

(yes this is for the Americas, but I enjoy outsider opinion as well)

Okay so its a few days till the 08' election. Anyone have any comments/questions/concerns/flames/tension that they would like to address here?

So far I am not sure as to whom i am voting for. It seems like both candidates are sucky... (When are they not?). Personally I would like to see the democratic party win, because over the past 10 elections the republican party has won 8 of them, and I like to see diversity in the leaders of Democracy, instead of the same party.

Hopefully this year no one will "steal" the election (sorry if your republican, but even you have to admit that the past two elections the republican party really didn't "win" (in fact neither side really didn't win)).

If you folks select McCain and Sarah Pallin then it is gonna be Bush all over again kiddies And you do realise "Americas" means South America as well, right?

Not gonna do it.. This is a NO POLITICAL FREE ZONE! What I think and you think about who should be President is of no concern to anyone.. I am here to map, and chat about mapping and mapping related topics. My grandmother said.. Never speak of Religion or Politics in mixed company.

If I was American, I'd most certainly vote for Obama. I really like his attitude and his vice presidential candidate isn't bad either, I hate how they keep saying he has no experience because a) experience isn't the most important thing and; b) he does have experience, he was president of the Harvard Law Review and did alot of other things aswell! Flynn pretty much mentioned the reason why I wouldn't want to see McCain as president, nothing it really going to change with him imo, that and the fact I strongly dislike Sarah Palin.

Obama is president elect! W00t. Democrats also have majority over the senate. Any ideas of whats to happen in his presidency? (predictions)

I'd put good money on an assassination, or at least an attempt.

Failing that, what will he "change" - probably a whole lot of nothing. American politics (like most Western politics) are too entrenched. The needs of business and economics will override any move toward ecological advances while the improvement of international situations will remain stagnated due to the US being elbow deep in Israeli interests.

Shame really, he seems like a nice enough bloke. Change we can believe in? Nah.

I wrote in Ron Paul. Two party system ftl.
Obama at no point had any chance of winning Texas.

It was refreshing to see an election where at least one side didn't resort to the standard character assassination and slander.

If you watch Obama's acceptance speech it was done behind bullet proof glass.

It seems to me every politician spits that word out "change" "change" just to get elected. The most I really hope for in his term as president is to get America on track to green. At least get on board with the kioto (sp?) treaty that the bush administration so wrongfully turned down.

I'm not jumping for joy but at least its not McCain. I dunno why anyone would vote for him because it would amount to nothing more than "BUSH, TO BE CONTINUED!"

Everyone kept bitching about Obama having no experience. Well it seems to me that having experience didn't serve before, and maybe, just maybe along with no experience will also be no bad habits.
