If you have an ati card. get the newest omega drivers from omegacorner.com

If you continue to have freezing uninstall codradiant & do the following:

start - run
regedit
hkey_current_user/software/
delete CoDradiant folder
restart your PC
re-install CoDradiant

+ applying a texture & adjusting it can be done with the surface inspector, when selecting a brush (shift+lc) or a face (cntrl+shift+lc) press the S key & the surface inspector will appear.

Check my getting to know tutorial on here or any of my tuts on callofdutygaming.com

You don't map 'for radiant', you map WITH radiant...

I've been mapping with radiant for 3-4 years now. I have come to like it more than everyone's beloved worldcraft

Thanks for that Brass (we call it smeg or something over here  ). Mong is also an old, outdated term of abuse for someone who's mentally disabled, but the context it's used in these days just means you're an idiot or something- it's like calling someone a cretin or retard or something, which, strangely, isn't that offensive at least over here!

Yeah, Lep's right about the smeg. I think it was popularised by the red dwarf series in which the characters called each other "smegheads".

This is really starting to get annoying. i done all that you said and it worked, but when i tried to make a map today, well it stoped working again.

It loads and the console window just sits there, frozen. what should i do to stop this happening.

Im not sure there is anything you can do.
When you start radiant instantly press N & then escape - this sometimes stops the freezing from occuring.

What windows system are you on?

i am lost, and don't reckon i have any interest in being found but, lemme slide in some info, if it is not relevant to any situation in this thread, please disregard it.

editors do not lock up because of operating systems, they usually do not care if you have win98, or winXP, what they do care about is your video system, specifically the drivers, and the card used. i suggest getting new drivers, next go into the properties (assuming the drivers failed to fix the issue) and lowering the video acceleration a notch, this will in most cases solve any lockup issues.

lastly find a map, that worked in the past and load it now, assuming any suggestion i already mentioned failed to resolve the issue.

many times something as simple as a mixed texture face will crash maps, and sometimes editors (IE putting a sky on one side of a 6 sided crate)... remember, editors almost always lock due to video issues, concentrate there 1st.

hope this helps

CoDRadiant was released only tested & used on win2k/xp & IW themselves said it probably wouldnt work on anything else.

Consider making a change to the compatability setting on your XP machine to see if it will work in 98 mode. That is, right click your CoD Radiant shortcut, go to Properties, then Compatability, change dropdown to Windows 98.

you hate it because its more stable then 98, right??

The only thing I can think of is that you're trying to use FAT32 (or, God forbid, 16) as your format. As much as I'd hate to admit it, XP is a decent OS for general use. But, it's sad that it took this long for Windows to become this stable and reliable.

You just have to remember XP is basically NT or 2000 but with major graphic and game support.

On another note, I want to map for CoD so bad, but I have no time to do so :'(

sigh I have some ideas that would be amazing in CoD . . . or DoD2

Only the installer dosnt work on 98, it was the same with my me. you just need to download the files and it should work fine. i cannot remember where i got it from though.

Ok here is what you do...

Press Start

then press Run

Type in the box Regedit

Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware

Find the folder called CoDRadiant and delete it.

Reinstall CoDRadiant and the problem is solved!

Tip: NEVER USE THE 4 SPLIT SCREEN... I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I FIXED IT JUST LIKE THAT... for some reason CoDRadiant messes up when you have the 4 split screen.

It's kinda obvious that the Radient editing section wasn't very popular.
