Pretty neat map. It reminds me of a cross between Buzzy Bots and Ricochet in a TFC form. Welcome to Snarkpit, and keep up the map work.

I love seeing new maps like this with an original theme. Okay, so the boxy design of 2fort makes the architecture a bit simple, but that's not the point. The point is that you're imposing your artistic vision upon a medium that is full of repetitive clones. It's a great idea to experiment like this, drawing inspiration from sources that are not just other HL maps.
The screenshots show off some really neat design.

The MCP will not be pleased. It looks like you have the Tron look down.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Orpheus, Im not sure what you were trying to say? As for it looking simple, yes, it is. Its also 30% done:) It will look a lot better once I fully finish all the brushwork, and add all the nice glowy to it.
I said I want to capture the feel of the Tron world, and to me, its somewhat simple. Lots of angles, not so much curves and whatnot. If you are a fan of the movie, and Im not talking about Matrix wink , you should know what it looks like. Also, its pretty hard to make the architecture advance, while having all the glowing going on. Im not some pro mapper, so maybe its easy to do if you know how. If anyone wants to give it a test, please go ahead. I would like to see alternate ways to get a good glowing effect. -End of line.

You should really make all your images as small as possible, but make sure that they still look like they have the same quality. + the small images are quicker to load.

point?
the last screen has so little degradation, that it still shows the rooms in detail, yet is below the required 100k.. i could have increased, or decreased it, true enuff, but the only reason it is still at 74k is because of all the blue.. images with far more colors, and far more detail can be lowered to 25k and look good...
my point wasn't to be an ass, but to motivate the hard heads among us to think of the 56k members.
in fact, i have been rather patient the last year or so, and prolly longer, cause i have been promoting the xat program for almost??? 4 years perhaps..
still.. it is a bit OTT of me to post the last image, when you already had proved my point before i logged in..
i concede..

Well, all my images are jpgs, not bmp. But any ways, sorry for the
sizes, I got them all under 200k now, so let me know what you think.
Should I go lower?
Now we got the image topic out of the way, comments on the glow itself? Anyone else try to come up with a good glow method?
Also, did this test room give you a feeling of the Tron glow? Not
really the textures so much, but the glow itself? I cant tell if its
too little of a glow, or the right amount.
Thanks

IMO, without anything else in that screen besides all that blue, its really tuff to say.. it looks to bright to me, just looking at the screenshot..
tron was blue-yes
tron was not brilliantly so..
if i remember correctly blue wasn't even the dominant color either.. you might consider others.
and 200k is... well i got mine down to 74. the fact that they were not bmp, is unimportant, 800+ is tho.

Jon, I had originally posted a 81k image, but swapped it for that one because of the noticeable difference in quality. There's no use promoting image compressors when you can clearly see the difference imho. Didn't have to take yours down and I wasn't having a go at you so just calm the f**k down!!!

Ok. Well I just happened to use those textures because Im doing blues
base first. I will include other colors for
sure. As far as blue not being the dominant color, well that's not
totally
true. All the "good" guys had a blue glow to them, their suits that is.
Bad guys, had red glow. The Tron world itself was made up of lots of
colors. But a good amount of it, is actually bluish green. Depending
on your video settings, the glowing color can be really green or really
blue. I don't want to get all technical about it, but if you have the
movie, check it out. The brightness is something I am aware of. I've
tried making it really bright, and really dim. But there are some parts
in the actual movie, where the glowing is really intense, like in the
tanks and in the Recognizer. Im not sure if I make it dimmer, if it
will still have the same effect.
The reason I am making
this, is because I love Tron. I've seen it so many times, I can say
that I am somewhat knowledgeable on it. I hope I don't sound like a jerk,
I just want to make it clear that I am really trying my hardest to pull
this off, and do a good job.
I have finished all of the upper base of blue, now I will work on the
mid sections. This includes elevator area, and spiral down to basement.
Orpheus, if you would like, try to come up with some diff glowing
methods. Try to get the brightness to where you think it should be. I would really like to see other peoples attempt at the
glowing. Its not hard or anything, but I really want to get that
"perfect" glow effect, and think if I get some input, the final product will be great.
Thanks

DAVE... shaddup  you've seen me upset.. mumbles asswipe
THX-1138,
honestly bud, i have no real interest in finding the right shade of blue, i was only saying, that with nothing else in there, its kinda hard to say for sure is all.
brightness debates have been here a time or two, with no clear winner, mostly because so many different gamma settings are possible with HL.. my advice tho is, since most people have theres set pretty high, i would go for a bit dim, in an attempt to counter any extra high settings.
i remember the movie, dimly, it was ok, nothing i would care to map for.. but original enuff to warrant doing.
i can offer some feedback, but critiques are no longer one of my main concerns... sorry
we do however have others as qualified as i, perhaps one of them could be convinced.

I think the blue in Tron was a lighter shade. It had more aqua and was not very bold.
