Well by the sounds of it this map is taking far too long... If you guys who were doing could have been bothered with it then I'd be suprised if it took more than a week to complete!

Finish it already! If this map ain't imense then I'm gunna be dissapointed....

If by "immense" you mean large then that shouldn't be a problem.

However you might be interested in SnarkpitCrew Map 1. I hear it might get a final release this year!

I never sacrificed my schooling when I was at school and mapped. I'm at uni now and I still find time now and then even with my huge amount of work (I get more than people at school get) and my busy social life.

Different people have different priorities and commitments. You may have a "busy social life" and a "huge amount of work", but do you (say) help to organise a major caving expedition? Are you a stressed finalist? Are you a reluctant insomniac?

Is your mother severely disabled? Do you have to take responsibilty for helping her to recover physically, for subtley and painstakingly inculcating in her a positive frame of mind, and for guiding the attitudes and actions of both your parents in the hope that they might recover some kind of life?

I bet you don't.

Those are just some examples from my life; I'm sure WC and TB have their own commitments and priorities, and their own problems to deal with. Everyone's circumstances are different; just because you have the time to map doesn't mean others do.

Mapping is only a very minor part of most people's lives. They shouldn't have to give excuses when they don't have time for it. Besides, some of the "excuses" might be too personal to discuss on a web forum.

not if this happens in the holiday peroid...nothing like mapping for 6 hours a day for 2 weeks straight...then you get a anti-mapping complex that drives you off mapping untill the next holiday peroid.

its the only way to stay sane

Yea good 'ol Card is still alive and kicking. I managed to finish most of my school work 'cept for reading that damn Frankeistein book. As for cadets, I'm buisy planning a weekend survival excercise and picking up the slack from my 2 comrades. lol

As well, I havent given up on mapping. Never!, lol. Just because I havent been doing anything important on the SPLA map (I added in 23 brushes since the last 2 days  ) I have been working on my CS competition map.

I also watched a movie. And had a shooting competition which took up my weekend. And then theres the sleep, the suppers, the showers, the girls  well, not so often now, too buisy.

If you can't make a contribution on time then why make it? I mean your contribution will be good, naturally, but I just think this map has dragged out way too long, HL is dead now!

As a matter of fact, I'm not contributing to the SPLA map, for two reasons: I don't want any commitment to mapping at the moment, and I like to map solo. Be that as it may, I wish them the best of luck!

I always seem to map at the times I shouldn't, and when I have time to map I don't. Although that's not always true, it's fairly often. I hate getting ideas in school for stuff to add to my map and having to sit for hours waiting.

Hey Mr. Fishy! (lol) I dont think we ever settled on a privacy policy for our work. (hint hint guys perhaps we should work on that).

For the record, I just added in about 50 or so brushes to my part. My original idea was kinda scraped, lol, because the map was becomming to linear. My section (in case I never mentioned it) connects with someones section that has some outdoor area, not yours horn. Its the one pluck full of null texturing. My section will also connect with 2 of MS's entrances to his section, via the rusty door and the gate on the left side wall. Finally, the last connection will be via the control room stairs, from TB. I dont plan on adding other connections yet though.

I havent textured my part yet, I usually build the whole thing, texture it, then add the lighting last.

we would all have to be in agreement (or the majority of us) to show our work. Personally, I dont really mind, it gives the uninitiated a reason to wait for our map. map files however (.MAP ; .RMF ; .WAD), would remain the proprety of the PitCrew2.

Hadn't thought of that. just screens then. However, it may be best if we wait untell all of the sections have been added so that people can make comments as we are prepareing for our first revision.

I'm just saying HL just ain't the game it used to be, in fact online gaming just seems to have changed completely... it just seems to be filled with bastards with no respect for others and a continually changing scene of games.

If I had heard about this map before it was started I would have helped too, I can easily make time for stuff like this quite easily...

The online community is filled with amateurs who constantly use cheats and cracks and whatnot to make themselves look good. Multiplayer isnt what it used to be.

Ah well, times change, lol.

just out of curiosity  , is the SPLA map only made by certain people, or can anybody [with-in reason] make a bit for it?
Is it just me or does he sound interested?
Hence the rolling eyes....

well I have the map currently, and being the lazzy bastard that I am, I've had it for I think something like a month now? Anyways, I should be done (sort of) my Friday. Then, I'll be uploading some screens you can see what it looks like. But first off, we'll talk to the other mappers and see how they want it.

By the way, I will have the map ready for the next mapper on Friday. My part will be completed, architecturally. I wont really texture it. Im really bad with textures, lol.
