Metal Gear Solid Two? Does it even have a coherent storyline?

And, duh, Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past would kick an ass or two.

LttP happens to be one of the other games. My top 3 personal games are Metal Gear Solid, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past and Final Fantasy VII. There is no order, they're just the games that I could play for hours and never get bored.

They are making a movie for FFVII. I really dont know the details, but it is about the aftermath of the incident, seph. comes back!

A link to the past...that would be good, nice and long, but very linear, Its just my personal prefernce, but Ocarania would be a good action movie, but thats just me. Actually now come to think of it I dont want to see movies from games, they will f**k it up majorly. I mean look at tomb raider (although it was nice to see angelia in the shower  )

How could you all forget diablo 2! Great cinamatics too!

I agree Silent Hill has a great storyline along with Max Payne 2. I also am a fan of the Resident Evil games, movie was good too.

Yeah, Advent Children looks quite spiffy. There are a few games that I think would make great movies, but I don't know of any actors that could really pull it off. The production would have to be absolutely perfect or else it's not worth it.

I personally think a game can be adapted for the screen. Its actually harder to go the other way around. The majority of problems is that the studios see it as a major money maker, so they get a 'popular' director and cast. Obviously they'll use anyone that's 'hot in hollywood' to do the part, they don't care about the final product just as long as people pay money for it.

This, on a personal note, pisses me off to no end. Taking that this is a MAJOR field of interest for me, I am very opinionated on the topic. But practically anything could be done correctly in an adaptation. What I am afraid of is that a video game-movie would be seen as an action movie by the general public, such that, that is exactly how it would be marketed and made.

Thankfully it seems that this trend is changing, thanks to comic book movies/films. I mean if you say that The Hulk wasn't a good adaptation and also an amazing film, there's something wrong with you, and I'm not talking about the Special Effects (I honestly wouldn't care how good they are as long as they serve their purpose, to bring realism to the story, which is not he intent on it's use most of the time.) Also, the way the X-Men universe is being fleshed out on screen is very satisfying. And I can only say that David Goyer did mericles with Blade.
Then there's Spider-Man, which is cheesy as hell, but to be honest, I wouldn't accept it any other way ... it is just a really cheesy series all together (perfect director too, since he IS the master of cheese lol.)

Also, think of the good adaptations of games. I mean, Mortal Kombat was a good movie ... believe it or not. If you don't think so, see it again ... the effects may be painful to watch, but my basis for a good movie is dependant on the development of characters and plot.

Also, 12 monkeys would make a good 'cinematic adventure' game Like Syberia.

And dammit, I want a good adaptation of: The Matrix, Die Hard (only the first one please), and Blade. They have yet to be done properly and they've all been done ... sadly.

[EDIT]
Didn't realize I wrote that much ...

The First Mortal Kombat was a great movie, the second was cheesy...I have both, and I really hope they do the 3rd one justice.

Clue wasn't a linear movie... nor was Memento... or Run, Lola, Run... Pulp Fiction... Some others. But then, there's like a thousand linear movies for every successful nonlinear one.

By linear I meant that all the dungeons are similar, same same same...... no diversity as much as ocarana.

thanks kage that clears some confusion.

Yeah, didn't they use their heads this time and get the same director and cast as the first one?

I totally agree with you though. The first one was awesome, and the second one ... I was actually embarrased in the theater I was watching it in ... soo bad, it's worse then cheesy lol.

Unless you count the show (Conquest, not the cartoon) there isn't a third movie, Adam.

I think that's all Deadly Alliance was ... a good story line ... the game it's self pissed me off ... I wanted what they were known for ... good controls.

Crono - I don't think they got the same director (Paul Anderson) as the first. He is the guy who went on to do the Resident Evil film, is working on the upcoming sequel, as well as the Aliens Vs. Predator movie. I can't imagine that on top of those he would take another MK film. I also read an interview with him in which he kind slated the second MK film and I doubt he would go back to the series tbh. Then again, I'm quite possibly wrong, I don't know for sure.

Oh, I didn't know P.W.A. did the first Mortal Kombat .... no wonder I liked it so much lol. (I'm well aware of him and his other work ... you forgot Event Horizon lol)

Hmm, this was just 'fanboy' banter that was passed to me from a source that is usually correct in their information, so there's a very good chance that I'm wrong. However, they're done with RE: Apocalypse and AVP. Maybe, not effects wise or anything, but, they're pretty close.

Event horizon... that film sucks. It isn't scary, and it's based around the stupidest idea ever: that some new kind of space ship opened a gateway into another dimension... a dimension of PURE EVIL!!!

I thought it was pretty cool actually - not a GREAT film by any means, but entertaining enough. Much like the Res Evil film in that respect, come to think of it.

I think all of the Metal Gear's are being butchered here. The games currently out are:

Metal Gear - NES/MSX
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - MSX2
Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge - NES
Metal Gear Solid - PSX/PC
Metal Gear Solid Integral/VR Missions - PSX
Metal Gear Solid/Ghost Babel - GBC
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - PS2
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - PS2/XBox
Metal Gear Solid 2: The Document - PS2
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - GCN

That's off the top of my head, I know there is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater coming soon as well.

What exactly do you mean by this? That the plot twist butchers the rest of them? (which makes very little sense, seeing MGS: 2 is only directly linked plot-wise to MGS: 1), that making them into a movie would butcher them? Please elaborate.

And you got all of them, yes.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - MSX2
Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge - NES
....I do NOT recognize this as a metal gear game ... in fact it's not even a game, it's crap. TOTAL crap.

P.T. Anderson is a very good director as well and he has writing his own films going for him as well lol.

Event Horizon wasn't that bad. Saying Event Horizon is bad is a matter opinion.
However, saying something like Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is bad is stating a fact

As for Snake's Revenge, yes that was the POS that America got (which is a great trend in the video game world...to get cut-down or cruddy versions.)

Yeah, Thankfully, I grabbed a copy of an MSX2 emulator and a translated copy of MG2  .

Should be great fun once I get around to playing it. (I've got Metal Gear Laying around somewhere. A store near my house got like five copies in one day ... they were gone in five minutes lol).
