What exactly are you trying to achieve?

I wouldn't know why not. Thing to remember, though, cyclers will cast blood when shot. Had a nasty experience with that in ns_veil when I first started implementing the chairs. I ended up using a cycler_weapon, which will work provided you clip off the model - otherwise you run over the model and it'll position itself as if it were a weapon model. Granted, it was funny running around with a chair hanging into my view, but it's not a good effect. The advantage of cycler_weapon over cycler_sprite, though, is that it will not bleed when shot and won't crash the editor.
Check the CS fgd; if the entities are there they should work. There may be a new entity specifically for model placement added, as the implementation of models (de_airstrip in particular comes to mind) may have called for a better means of doing things.

None of the half-life entities seem to appear in the cs.fgd.

I suppose I am being a bit hypocritical... but since I dont have an internet connection on my own comp, I cant really use steam, so I go on what I've heard from other people who have it. Apparently its murder on a 56k...

Ok, this is just silly. 1.6 is a free dl, right? You appear to be attempting to make a map for the mod... So what is the problem with dl'ing it. I think it's rather reasonable to have the mod you're trying to map for.

If none of the HL entities are in the CS fgd, then there would seem to be a major problem - last I was aware, all standard HL entities were included, as it'd be odd if CS was just magically without func_wall.
Also, even though an HL entity isn't in the fgd by default, that doesn't mean it won't work if you add it manually.
But yes, as was just pointed out, you really should just get the release and then check and see what happens and how well it works.

If you have a DVD drive, get a copy of PC Gamer DVD edition. They'll probably have a CS installer on that as one of the many, many extras they have every month.

It's always a good idea to have the mod you're making the stuff for, or else it's just plain un-tested from your own machine. And it's a really good idea to test your maps yourself.

This forum really should not be for arguing why you should or shouldn't spend the time/money dl'ing a mod. If I had the powers of Lep or Gwil, this thread would now be locked. Let's all just treat it as such.

They should close it, since NOBODY seems to be able to say "YES, they work, GOD DAMMIT!" or "NO, they DONT work, so pod-off" or something  .
