Anyone know of a decent Chinook helicopter prefab ? it has to be a prefab and not a model. Haven't looked at the one on prefabland yet as the DL link seems to be down atm.

I have a chinook, got it from http://prefabs.gamedesign.net I think... It's a tad off scale wise though seeing as chinooks can carry tanks, yet this one is far too small to do that.

heh, it has to be a prefab, a model won't work

@Wild Card - was really after a chinook, thx for the offer tho'

Myrk any chance of posting a DL link ?

Forgot to mention that it has to be big enough to carry 8 CS players and let them move about in it. Its ok if its smaller as i can modify it and its easier than doing one from scratch.

Well, mine holds 3 quite comfortably if ever you change ideas. A heli holding 8 players is going to have to be big though as there has to be some spacing between players to prevent spawnfragging.

Find pictures of chinooks on the internet and try and make the prefab yourself. It's good experience and will teach you the more advanced tools. If you must download one you could look at www.ejoop.com/pfl/ and see if they have any.

In real life you can be sitting shoulder to shoulder and squeeze next to someone else, in HL, your 32x32x74 units all the time. And in real life you dont get gibbed when the mission starts and there 12 people in the heli

Errr, already checked out PrefabLand but the link was down. I've done prefabs before but i'm lazy and was hoping someone else had already done one.

I thought about 2 heli's but it means extra complexity, its only a
16 player map so 1 should do it.
...is going to have to be big though as there has to be some spacing between players to prevent spawn fragging.
Yup, that could be a problem so... i'll have to make it big enough

Chinooks can carry tanks, yes, but not internally. They carry them on a sling externally, because theyre not big enough to fit a tank inside.

I'm pretty sure they can take vehicles inside.

http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/chinook.html

They can take 54 guys, and it says 2 landrovers will fit inside, so Maybe an APC or light tank could fit in there as well.

Landrovers, yes. They would fit, if you put them in end-to-end. Tanks and APCs are wider, so they wouldnt fit.

They can carry tanks and some other vehicles underneath, if I'm not mistaken. Like wil5on said.

Nice links there Orph

Seeing as how this is going into a game, its not going to be carrying any lame tanks or APC's - a 20 ton fruit cake should fit underneath ok.

Surely HL's osprey model would be better than the apache - apache's arent exactly meant as people carriers!

feasibly it would seem, but then they are designed differently and covered in thick armour plating  mabe some of those mech infantry, at a squeeze ^_^ ?

as for the prefab, like Yak said, i'd have a crack at making it yourself.. it doesnt need to look too hot if its just acting as a transit method for players IMO. just resemble what it is supposed to

<!-- ZoneLabs Popup Blocking Insertion -->http://www.ejoop.com/pfl/showlist.asp?prefabid=554&formtype=2, you can try that, tbh its not that gd, but you could put on your own textures.
