I searched the forums for a while but I didn't find anything similar.... And this seems to be the most fitting forum:
When I accidently hit the "load window state" button, I lost my 4-windowed view.
Now only one 2-D window opens containing the "front(y/z) view". I searched all the options.
Clicking on "View -> Autozise 4 views (Ctrl+A)" doesn't work. I reinstalled hammer 3.4 and 3.5. Nothing gets back my "top", "side" and "3-D" view.
Does anybody know what todo??? I almost lost my mind with that....
Sorry. I added a picture for you to know how that looks like; but my webspace doesn't support external pictureviewing. I will screw that very soon, don't worry.
thanks anyways for your help

I had this happen to me once, but Ican't remember for the life of me how I restored it. I tried looking back to help out, but it seems 3.5 no longer has the load/save window state options in the first place!
A couple ideas:
1) I am a moron. I cannot see.
Alternativey, 2) Uninstall and reinstall again, but make sure to empty your registry of all Hammer information. This is a little more advanced, but if it comes to reinstalling, the reason it didn't work before is most likely the residual registry stuff from the last install.
Hope one of these helps.
EDIT: Omegaslayer below is correct - Tools --> Options will give you a checkbox. Make sure "use independent window configurations" is unchecked. The "load default window positions at startup" or whatever option may be checked or unchecked, it had no effect as I tested this just a second ago.

I've hit that accidentally on quite a few occasions, and its always fixed by simply closing hammer and re-opening it. If that doesn't work for you (and surely you tried) then I guess you may have to take the measures KFS suggested.

Go to tools and options, I think in the general tab there is a box with independent window arangement, is it checked or blank, try checking or unchecking it if nothings working.

Simple-- Shift+z toggles fullscreen mode for the selected window.

Wuhaw.
Thanks alot.
That "independent window" optinon really rocks. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't try such an obvious thing.
It semms the shift+z shortcut has also the same effect.
You guys kinda saved my day.

PS @ JFry: I really don't know why your answer is rejected/incorrect? I klicked on "yes" this answer is usefull.
Guess I'm getting older somehow....
