I am not trying to get anybody off this site but just supply more places to get help at. You can't find everything in one place. A new and what seems like a good editing site has opened up. It has tutorials, forums, news, and downloads. Give it a try.

Yeah his tutorials.. are very poor too.

poo to him!

Mapcore and Snarkpit are the only legal HL communities.. there will ever be....

HL2world.. has a bunch of idiots with the leaked compiled version of HL2 and their using the new editor... And then! PHL (for a little bit.. later taked it off after I showed them) posted new saying that there has been the first CSS custom map.. everyone was happy till they realized... hey this is illegal! Plus is the biggest piece of s**t I have.. ever scene. Hydeph maps are better! I joke.. <3 to hydeph

Spartan uses an interesting turn of phrase and you feel the need to point out the usual boring way of saying it as if we didn't know :wtf:

On topic though, yes I was also rather unimpressed with the quality of his tutorials.

Blink's a good mapper but I get the feeling that he miscalculates his importance to the world, considering he basically stops working on a mod and joins another as soon as he's come up with a good-lookin' map or two. I do the same thing, but I don't leave because I feel that I'm too good for whatever, it's because I can't carry on mentally.

Cool! And i get the feeling you have no idea what you're talking about.

"he basically stops working on a mod and joins another as soon as he's come up with a good-lookin' map or two"

Wtf do you base your judgements on? Have you ever worked on a
mod with him? No, so i dont see how you can imply that he leaves mods
because he feels he's too good for them. You don't even know him, so dont judge him. Perhaps youre delusions of his arrogance
stem from the fact that you were rejected from his mod?

Oh, and a note to Ferret and Fraggard - Maybe constructive criticism is
more productive than youre retarded line "Looks like crap".. And
considering this isnt a "what do you think of this site" thread,
perhaps it would be best if you didnt speak at all.

Welcome to the SnarkPit esechre. I see you've been around for a while but still don't understand that, unlike most places, this is one site where every opinion is considered valid. And I suppose I'm perfectly within my own rights to compare his site to as much crap as I see fit.

Of course, your earlier (pre-edited) response made your Point of view more clear (or should I say points?). I suppose you can now ask for constructive criticism, but you weren't on the right side of that particular field when you said "I forget how gay the HL community can get", and also that "We have our heads stuck up our asses", while rounding it off by calling us "wankers" (sic).

Having said that, I suppose "looks like crap" is a perfect opinion about this particular post. Congratulations, you're a hypocrite.

congratulations to you too Fraggard, youve taken what i said in haste
(and obviously not quite what i meant, hence the editing) and removed everything but the insults and then judged me. Smooth.

Maybe you didn't mean the compliment either (if you can call that one, and if it was directed to me). Doesn't matter though.

Suppose I did give some "constructive criticism" about the site, what good would it do? Chances are the webmaster (whom I don't know) won't see it. Even if he/she does, theres very little he/she can do to change the design of a PHP-Nuke (Puke) page, besides the colours. And it's unlikely the content will be modified very soon.

Anyway, this has gone farther than I care for this topic.

Well I think we will just have to accept, people realise Snarkpit is good in its construction and ways that others are copying it and trying to make it better but failing miserably!

I've seen a fair few sites that try and copy the Snarkpit now, non are as good.

You guys are sounding like noobs. "Looks like crap" isn't exactly constructive critism, plus this is a new site. Give it time and it will improve, you can't make assumptions about someone who you don't know. With respect to Lesperous I am sure The SnarkPit wasn't as great as some of its predesessors but over time it became what it is now. Also how many of you have actually gone out of your way to setup an editing site? They are there to help people so what is the point to making stupid arguments over something in which you have no control over. If you don't like it fine, good it doesn't matter.

I can make assumptions of whoever I want. Monqui is a noob! Crackerjack is teh sukc! See? Real easy.

Hiding behind the "philathropist" nature of the website won't prevent
it from being critcized either. The design is poor, and the content is
poor. That's all there is to it. Why don't I setup my own editing site?
Because there's plenty of those already, and Snarkpit provides the
means to publish anything you want. And what's the point of making
"stupid arguments over something in which we have no control over"?
Freedom of speech - the right to express yourself. And that particular
expression is, in fact, that this website is awful. You don't even have
to compare it to Snarkpit, really.

So, in conclusion, my constructive criticism of the website would be to
redesign it, use a different backend, and write better / more advanced
articles (there's 100+ tutorials on how to make glass, we don't need
anymore). Essentially, redoing the entire website.

They used PHPnuke which is a sort of 'out of the box' dynamic PHP driven website. Not a bad thing really, because most people that use it would otherwise have a non-dynamic, and much worse designed site.

Personally I don't see what's so horrible about the design. People here just have a loathing for light, so when a website has a light background, it reminds them of outside, and they start to shrivel up and moan a lot :heee:

i dont really see what it matters what the site looks like. I mean,
Tommy14's pages are hardly sexy are they  And of course the content
isnt going to be as good as snarkpit. It just opened a week ago.. And i
think what theyve got is pretty impressive. Then to hear people i
respect just dismiss it with "Looks like crap" then quoting it... i
think thats pretty negative. True giving constructive criticism wouldnt
have helped alot, but neither does negative criticism. I think this has gone too far aswell.

I like the design. It's nothing innovative but at least it's clean and
fresh. For a front page however, it has a bit too much useless
information.

A new editing site is going to need something special to set it apart
from the others and help it contend with already established sites. I
don't see anything special here. With a bit of time it might come along.

The only mod that he's worked on and that actually got completed was Solo Operations. Isolation fizzled out, Project: Genesis died after his departure. No, I can't say I'm right in that he leaves because he's too good for 'em, but why the hell's he leaving just so he can start a mappack that in all likelihood will never see the light of day?

I also like how he told you that I was rejected from his mod, yet never bothered to tell me, seeing how I learned from a chat log from Iso's programmer.
