I can't quite be certain if I'm interpreting that monster thing right,
but if I am, I love it  Full of attitude! The environment also looks
great.
Glad to hear your all settled in to your new job and locale, hope it keeps on getting better and better for you mate!

I would buy ?Going Commando? if someone would answer my question on how it is in comparison to the first. ?Up Your Arsenal? looks fun as well, but it might be far too repetitive.

Heh, yeah.. the monster is whatever you want it to be. I was just goofing, but I guess he's just trouncing through, smashing s**t up.
Orph, Burbank is only a few minutes away from Pasadena.. so let me know your schedule.
Honestly, the Ratchet and Clank games get better and better with each iteration. If you liked RC1, definately grab RC2: going commando. I can tell you myself, that RC3: up your arsenal is as good, if not better than RC2. My first assignment was to play it! The games never got repetitive to me, because each one is packed full of story, new eye candy, and of course new weapons.

Finger, you are a sexy beast.
After checking MapQuest, it appears that Pasadena is about across the entire state from where I live. Oh well, there goes my dream of making sweet love to crono OH MY GOD
EDIT: It appears that Crono does not in fact live in Burbank, as I had surmised from my limited reading of this thread. My heart will go on.

considering how big california is, Oregon may be just as far away as Pasadena from your location cass.. but love will prevail if allowed to. i figure, if you take off walking now, you might make it to Oregon before HL2 arrives, thereby killing two birds with one stone :heee:
ain't i the little ol love stinker? nah, thats not poot you smell

Thanks!
I work with Maya, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop; your staple tools, really. Most of my work is in Illustrator, making detailed layouts of the maps. I only touch Maya for rough concepts and prototype levels. Once the Designer's map is layed out, its off to the artists to build geometry, texture, light..etc. Then the level comes back to us, and we implement the gameplay mechanics, enemies, scripting..etc.
Level design has really split into 2 jobs: Designer, Artist. I chose the path of Designer, as I feel that gameplay is the core of what I love in games. I love art, and I plan on using alot of my conceptual abilities in my design job; but design gets me off a little more then just making things look pretty.
So.. the job is great. I really just want to absorb all the knowledge that buzzes around that place; the amount of creativity, intelligence, and passion for gaming is unreal. Oh..and they have a kitchen, stocked with Redbull, Beef Jerkey, and Licorice. Who could ask for more?

Yes, I suppose you are right about differences in companies..Also, I am generalizing a bit there. IMO, the best designer is one who approaches the initial concept with both art and gameplay in mind. And actually, there is a ton of room for an artistry and style in the presentation of a designers ideas. The better you communicate your vision, the more chance you have of selling the team on it.
It would be very interesting to see exactly how the job differs between two successful companies!

Heh  Nice pic! Kinda reminds me of the film 'Critters'
Glad the job is going well and I look forward to seeing your mugshot in the Insomniac Museum in RC3...
And Crono, RC2 is better than the first one...though the first was pretty damn good too. The second is much bigger and more varied - the only gripe I have is that there's no longer a counter telling you how many hidden 'platinum' bolts are left in the level....so if you're listening Finger...make sure they put it back in for RC3

Well, I'll pick it up sometime.
I still regret buying RC1 for full price though. It really wasn't worth $50, but it's still a good game.
I'm still waiting for Onimusha 3 to go down in price. (Almost any decent games purchase can be justified if they are $10 or so)
