okay, I made this half-life video - it shows scenes of the games I played on a metal soundtrack. Ive spent some weeks collecting all the scenes and screenshots and putting it all together. might not be as cool as some old clan videos but they had their clan games and a bunch of guys collecting scenes and stuff and I did it on my own ^_^ this is the first time I made a video like this and I think its pretty cool so check it out. I was inspired by Grouchy and PurePwnage. Im still uploading the file so you have to wait a bit.

I think "s**t" is not in the lyrics of this song so dont worry I didnt hear it either. seriously: thats a pity you dont seem to have the codec its mpg2 maybe I should do a second version mpg1 which everyone can see but its bad quality then.

(edit: yet youre the first one with that problem)

(edit2: did you like the visual part then?)

is this divX or Xvid encoded, then ? Or is Mpeg2 something else ?

Yes, I did like the visual part ... cool kills, although sometimes
things went quite fast, which doesn't look good when the demo was made
with a low framerate.

pfft, 1mb connections are for pussies who wear internet panties.

I was lucky enough to have my ISP randomly upgrade their network to support (as in raise cap) 3mb connections ...

Hey I thought it was really good. Download went really fast. I have never heard that music before so that was good  I like videos that keep it short like yours, some seem to drag on and on with long bits of uninteresting gameplay. I'm guessing they are just part of the movie-making software you used, but I still liked the 3D and other transition effects.

sorry for the late answer I was extremely busy and didnt go online much! thank you for the answers! I used Fraps, AVItoMPG Converter and WinProducer (yes the effects were standard options in that program) As for the killbox video.. which sucked pretty hard in my opinion - no, that was not the Taliban video I was talkin about. I meant the one that was played in afghanistan to cheer up the us-soldiers. it shows various us-military public material such as tanks planes bombings and stuff and in the "Let the bodies hit the floor" part there are Al Qaida (or whatever the spellin is) member pictures. the video itself is very... "american" but the presentation rules so much that I like it nevertheless. check out grouchymedia.com i think thats the creators site you can watch the stuff there - pretty cool presentation. again thanks for the many answers!

I should write a tutorial on that.

basically, there are two methods. 1. while playing back the demo, type
in console "startmovie <name> <fps>" ... this will take
screenshots from the demo, and put them as bmps in your half-life (or
whatever mod's folder) at whatever fps you want. as in, if you chose 30
fps then 10 seconds would be 300 bmps. quite a lot. anyway after that
you get a program like Videomach to put all the frames together into an
avi or mpg or whatever ... then you'd use a video editing program like
premier or vegas or after effects to put the different avis or "clips"
together with effects, music, etc ... into a movie.

the 2nd way is to use a program such as fraps - www.fraps.com - to
directly make avis (with sound!) from your demo... you run fraps in the
background, then play your demo back, and press F2 or whatever your
button is to start recording, and fraps turns everything you see on
screen into an uncompressed avi in a folder of your choosing.

for example, fraps was used to make the hl in under an hour movies

btw, when you say pro gamer movie, do you actually mean pro gamer ? as in, do you play for money?

[edit] just watched the movie ... all public footage :S ... don't you have like matches? 2v2, 5v5, etc? or is hl pub only ?

you can be pro and dont play for money. pro dont need to be professional as if it was your job or stuff. more like "as if you were playing for money"

btw I made a second version mpg1 for people with bad computers or guys who cant get the codec  www.kampys-stuff.de in the file section there is a second button now.

But yeah, expect some news on this front in about 3-5 weeks time  A
Snarkpit HLDM server will be up and running, I hope. Money is not the
issue, more it is about catering for the international "fanbase" as it
were.

Either way its a few weeks away, so don't get excited yet...

A private server? If so, you're gonna have alot of headackes when hundreds of people will join snarkpit only to get to play on the server . You should allow only those with more than 400SnarkMarks to play.

LOL  I find it wierd you guys don't have more snarkmarks considering
how active you are on the site. Perhaps that shows the system really is
kinda flawed. I think map comments and critiques and feedback in the
mapping forum should probably hold more value.
