Well, I tried to pick up my old reviewing pen, but it's just not working, I can't get into a mood to review these for you. However, I'll write a few sentences on each one, and post up my thoughts along with the winner of the votes- I hardly think my out-of-touch sk1lz warrants me marking one of them the 'official' winner!

Bleh, I should have put more work into my entry; don't really feel comfortable releasing such a half-completed map... Lep, hurry up and post the results! I can't stand the suspense. :leper:

KoRn, you are indeed up against some of the very best in the community. But your map is still very good work and certainly holds its own in the competition

korn, i think you were first in your devision bud.. your map looks great, i hope you aren't discouraged.. look at me, i was up against just as many and i have lots more experience than you, and i prolly didn't place as high in the last comp as you did in this one.

be proud... you did better than i could have

I think Korn shoulda had third place instead of me personally, his is a proper map while mine is just a pretty picture. I personally think you will find yourself in 4th position Korn, although you might have a bit of trouble with CJ's entry competing for it.

Congratulations to Finger - its a great map and fully deserving of the victory. Also many kudos to Crackerjack and his lovely level - could perhaps use some changes for playability sakes (not that I'M one to talk!) but for looks it is a beauty. And of course well done to all who entered, it was a fun one

Whoa, I feel all tingly. What a nice way to cap the past few years of mapping for HL. Thanks to everyone who cast their vote my way.

I put alot of time into that map, and it was very rewarding to get so much positive feedback. Also, I'm super thankful to Orph for his critiques, or I probably woudn't have pushed it as far as I did. I feel like the rest of ya were mapping with one arm tied behind your back. I think that Korn, Campaign, Cracker, Reno, Adam(hope I'm not forgetting anyone) all had class maps, that if pushed to completion will be amazing. It was really nice to see newer mappers enter also...lots of potential there; keep pushing it, and you'll be knocking our socks off in no-time.

Can't wait for the first HL2 comp.

Many congrats to Finger, Crackerjack and ReNo. I was mightily impressed by Broken_Palace as I hadn't really seen much work by Finger before (I think there were one or two maps in AGMOD but I might be wrong). The atmosphere captured in it was spot on, and I especially liked the little broken bits of wood and wall scattered around. The little outside area was (walk the plank) was a nice touch too

Well done all!

Adam, I think yours probably plays the best out of the bunch, although I haven't actually had a playtest with Finger's, which is probably the closest rival. Think I might drag myself away from FFX for long enough to have a bit of HLDM action this evening

rampart plays well, But with lots of players. with few players its very quiet due to its size.

Heh  Rampart was nowhere as big as that to begin with, it was just the two opposing castles with the staircases up to the bridge originally, but I decided that there were very few 'arena' style maps for lots of players (most cater for a much smaller player number). I guess I could always release a smaller version too  dm_rampart_mini anyone? lol
