Hi, this is my first DM map...i still didnt finish it ... but i hope it will be liked by pple :smile: ... its kinda noobish...but im still working on it...Studying and school really make me pissed off...so i have no much time to map...well..here is the url where u can find another screen shots http://www.freewebs.com/zuhdiweb/news.htm (It may take some time to load the pictures...so plz be patient)

New screen Shots...with lights at last !!!...i hope this makes the map more attractive now eh??...hope so !!! :biggrin:

Seeing as its your first map i wont blame you on this but on the bit where you click to compile click normal on run vis and run rad as your map is fullbright unless you runn rad which calcualtes the lighting of maps and vis is how much is shown at once :)

tick them and click compile again but well done for first map :)

Dark you remember me well run your map with vis and rad on as your map is fullbright and will lag if they are not run!

go to compile bit and tick normal on run vis and rad and then compile your map again to make it better without it your maps will all be crappy and im not the only one who will tell you to use rad and vis as well!

compile time takes longer but its worth it when you want nice looking maps with a darkish mood to it

Looks quite fun, and not bad for a first map! There's plenty of little details and object to throw around which I always like!
Create some lighting, render the map, and keep us updated on your progress with some new pics!

Seconds pic, try to align the texture on the pipe as much as you can. rest looks ok :) exept ofcourse for the fullbrightness :)

I thought i might as well comment on your map well it looks ok but i noticed some odd bits like:

The third pic shows barrels but for some odd reason they look really small to me? did you shrink them?

second the door on the third pic looks as though its sticking out? you should use a model for the door in the folder c17/doorleft or something it looks detailed and has a doorknob and hinge

Not to come off as harsh here, but that map does not look like fun. Dont mean to be offensive but thats the truth. Its simply a box and some models. Get comfortable with the tools and than get AWAY from the idea that everything is a box. You'll go father that way.

And seriously, stop with the full caps and bold posting! Bumping topics for no reason is also frowned upon here.

Anyway, map looks much better now it has lighting, however the lighting
doesn't really look to match the light fixtures. In the first shot you
have an ultra-red room, with one white light fixture and, unless the
shot just doesn't show them, no red ones. The second and third shots
have white light fixtures on the walls but the lighting isn't even
brightest at the light, but instead at its sides. You have gone over
the top with props for a deathmatch level, particularly the explosive
crates which should really be used sparingly and placed apart from each
other - having more than two bunched together is crazy as a lot of
people get huge performance hits at chain explosions.

Good start though, nice enough job so far you just need to think about your prop use a bit more really.

yeh i know dude...in the first pic...if u searched well..there are other light bulbes in the ceiling...but the problem is i cant get it shown as its comming from the light bulbss...cuzz i dunno how...should i use light or light_spot or light_(what??)

thats the problem in my map...and i made the map that these barrels can make the Explosion Chain once...once they Respawn Again...they wont be affected by any other exploions ex: if u hit a barrel and exploded...the other barrels will only fly away...so the chain would only be once...According to the light thing...i just need the right kind of light to use in it so it would appear that the bulb is lighting not the walls lol...but i dunno which to use...

Dark not bad so far but please tone down on the 'expecting comments every minute as it will never happen'

i used to be impatient on that site i told you (twhl) and just got criticised like you are so just calm down and leave it over night and check for any more comments :smile:

i see that your excited because people are saying your map is good and you feel as though your good but dont get cocky is my advice

in my maps i dont get comments for weeks so spamming isnt going to get others to comment and they will just be annoyed :razz:

I have something to say about your placement of equipment and stuff: That room is a campers heaven: think about it! You've got of health pickups and rechargers and tons of psygunnable stuff (to much will also lag up the server) to fend other people off with.

Think on your feet! Build something YOU want to play. The idea behind all modding stuff (ie Hammer) is to let you add your own personal touch! My insperation comes the Game Design Theory for HL Deathmatch tuts. They may be in the HL1 section (under newbies) but minus all the r_speeds stuff they still apply the HL2DM.

PS: The randomly boldened / Capitalised text just makes you look like a spazzing twit, even if you are desperate.

Anyway dark its good to see that you dont get stressed when someone like me tells you that your being cocky so it shows your determined

If you need help on anything i can teach you as i have tought a few students of mine!

Its a shame you cant come to my house as it would be easier anyway you name it and ill put it in a example map that you can look at and observe but the best way to leanr is by testing on your own e.g.

make a hollow cube with a light and start off with making water in it, if it works then the next thing to learn making doors for example and read a tut on a site like twhl or snarkpit and try it out if it fails tick boxes and crap untill it works but make sure you make these examples seperately as compile times will get longer and more stressful

Theres nothing worse than waiting ages to compile a big detailed map to find theres new errors!

Also i find that if i make a map like yours for example and i work on it for a while but i find that its not going so well i leave it and work on other stuff and come back to it later on! it stops you from being fed up of the same thing over and over :biggrin:

All i can say is that if your not doing so well or not enjoying it then try something else like outdoors etc

I'll second that! Build up the basics, then add detail. As Reno said
(somewhere) its easier to tear apart and fix and simple map thats bad
rather than a detailed map thats crap.

Lighting and atmosphere is good, but all I see is a room full of props. Get some interesting architecture in there. Of course, this is just a very early stadium of your map. Good luck with it.

Look at the first page in particular guys, I think thats mostly what
Cass was getting at. Its basically just full of Dark and Habboi
spamming the thread with consecutive replies, all caps posts and all
bold, etc... In short, it just looks quite unlike other threads on
these forums, in a bad way. But hey, by the looks of the other threads
you guys are learning our ways here, so just try not to repeat these
mistakes :smile:

Ok Ok...

Anyway, New screen shots have been posted, i still will continue making an outside level, as a small corner of a nieghborhood, and maby a boiler room with a locker room, that you can enter from a door in the long hall way...ofcourse, ill add more details...which is what i am doing right now... :smile: :smile: I hope u would like it :smile:

Also don't like that outdoors much, smells funny. Finally..... whats that light model you use on your ceiling, the little lump one?

Yeh myrk...this is an abandoned apartment...so the exit sign must have atleast an abvious defect...And which light do you mean??...then one in the second picture ???
