Seen as HL2 is upon us, mini-mods are being unleashed and new
modifications will come about. So what was your golden Half-Life 1
Single-Player episodes, are they being re-made for source? If not, and
its one of your favourites, I think it should be. So here goes mine:

1 - They Hunger Trilogy

2 - Poke646

3 - Todesangst Series

As far as I know, They Hunger Trilogy is writing to Valve as Black
Widow games have some contract and legalities they have to tie up with
Valve to do with "They Hunger" before they're allowed to start work on
a Source version. The others, I don't think will be "Sourced" as I
haven't heard of it yet.

There will undoubtadly be more modifications mentioned over time that I
will not know, which can't be put in to a poll. Its also an open
question on "Your favourite HL1 SP" rather than "Out of these many mods
what was your favourite HL1 SP". And the ability to choose more than
one modification as a favourite can not be put in to a poll either.
Happy?

They hunger was great, as I scare extremely easily (play it with the lights off and volume cranked  ). but my all time fav was probably SlayerA's minimicus, for the sheer fun of it!

quite.

we always played SnarkWars, SvenCoop, CS, Science and Industry, and RocketCrowbar. Sometimes VERY rarely we played OP4. I think I probably liked rocketcrobar because it was... Zany. yes, Zany.

I didn't like the They Hunger series too much, but POKE646 is the uncrowned king of HL1 mods. Anyone know when Vendetta will be out?

issues bored me after a few minutes and lost my attention, although
poke646 is my alltime favorite i also did enjoy point of view a lot,
but it got boring after a few hours playing.

You get tired too fast in Poke646 (and there's no meter showing it,
which obviously is helpful, since you can't physically feel tired and
it just becomes annoying). Otherwise, it's pretty well made.

Well in the Summer you can play my crappy little HL2 SP mission, it
will suck, as I'm still working more on HL1 projects than Source based,
as I have no time to learn a new style and level of detail in my maps
until the Summer, when schools out.

Also, I feel by the summer we will see a couple of good HL2SP missions, and possibly even HL1 : Nightwatch I hope?

They hunger was crap, I only played it to get to the end. Hate games like that...

I just loaded up P646, and I'm very impressed. I never got very far in They Hunger because the maps were utter s**t. I simply couldn't imagine going to all that effort and then doing such a terrible job of executing the environments!

The only problem I have so far with P646 is the cheesy and obvious story line. The guy is a great graphic designer, but he can't tell a story to save his life.

Brendon Chung's done all sorts of wacky experiments. They all rock, of
course. I recommend Puppy Years, Bootleg Squadrog, and Bugstompers.

You have to remember, Tracer, Half-Life maps only got up to today's standard long after They Hunger was finished. The mod certainly didn't look good, but it was very well put-together.

That being said, what I've heard about They Hunger's HL2 conversion is ridiculous - apparently Manke isn't doing it because Valve has refused to pay him for it  Really in the spirit of modmaking, ass.

I know it's new and all, but there's this nifty thing online called google!

The thing that bothered me about They Hunger wasn't so much in its appearance. It was the fact that there were lots of badly scaled areas. For instance, at the very beginning when you are climbing out of the water where your car crashed, that sewer-like area was WAY to claustrophobic. The hallways and stairs were only barely wide enough for Gordon to pass by. Most of it was better than that, but I seem to remember the problem recurring, and it really bothered me.
