Its MAY FIRST! Time to gather your family and friends around and have a BAR-BQ.. and dance around the May Poll.

Wish you were all here to have around me to eat hamburgers and hotdogs and BBQ Chicken and coleslaw, and potato salad, and chips and dips and play frisbee, and tug of war and all that fine MAY Day stuff. Plenty of beer and soda around and punch for everyone..

How I love MAY FISRT! MAY DAY! WOOT!

Here in Oxford, the tradition is to go stand on a bridge and watch Morris men/choirs etc. at 6am in the morning. If you don't, then the f**king church bells will wake you up anyway

In that case, it's time to celebrate.

Being that close to the border, I bet theCinco de Mayo preparations are driving you nuts

In fact, so many Mexican migrant workers have moved to Jonesboro, that we now have some items for the holiday in our stores

I know it was the Spanish Vctory over them damn Canadians.. err I mean French they are celebrating.. =)

What state is that in? It does not surprize me a bit there is some 40 million hispanics in the US. Its so bad here that you are required to speak spanish to get a job at McDonalds. Thats no joke.. and guess what I dont speak any spanish.. maybe thats why I have yet to find work here.. could be.

IMO they ought to do something about the language issue. It seems pretty dumb to me that the government makes so many accommodations for non-English speakers (public school classes taught in Spanish etc.). By not forcing the immigrant population to learn English, we are only hampering their cultural and economic integration. I have no problem with immigration, I just feel that it cripples the Hispanic population in general to be so PC about "respecting" their culture.

A prime example is the American Indians. They never integrated into the rest of society because of the reservation system, and as a result they have fared miserably as a socio-economic group.

Where I live they force my kids to take spanish, I dont agree with that at all. And Tracer I see your point and agree. But see here is the problem, its not the Hispanics that come over here the legal way, heck they go though classes to become American citizens, and one of them is English. Its the ones that sneak over that are the problem, they refuse to enter here the right way, and they refuse to learn english, and then they have a baby here, and rape the system. Did you know that over 2.1 billion dollars leaves the USA every year. Money made by immergrant workers and sent back to Mexico to support familys back there, as well as help them get the money needed to get themacross the boarder as well. Something has to be done.. I have no problems with any person seeking a better way of life, I just want them to do it the right way.

Aww... Its no fun when there is too much agreement. Maybe I should have phrased it differently:

Lets put all the damn wetbacks into concentration camps until they can pass an english grammar test!

I'm assuming you hail from "The NetherRegions"? I used to have a couple clan mates from The Netherlands and it was so much fun to pick on the smallness of the area. Well blushes it was fun for me

Thanx to you, I almost lost an entire mouthful of coffee. Only my shear force of will prevented a near disaster. Next time, post a WARNING: before so i can swallow.
