Ok, I know I bated you in here with a cheesy catch line.. but I was wondering if you all think a Model Resource page would be something that would be supported by model makers as well as mappers.

I have this web space and right now it just sits there doing nothing.. But if I was to turn it into a modeler resource page where model makers could upload there work for others to use, do you think they would?

It could also be used to request models, and have tutorials and all that to help new modelers.. It could be linked well with the Snarkpit too.. two handy resources for mappers and modelers to use.

Give me some advice and imput please.

DAMN!
I thought you meant the naked model of Alyx from HL2

It sounds like a great idea and maybe a link could be on the front page on Snarkpit.
How many modelers are there in Snarkpit besides Fishy?

I have been approached by a couple other than Fishy. I wont give away there names, because I have not been told I can. And since they have not told people in the open who they are I gues they dont want to be bombarded by request.. but If I could get the resource up, they could see request on the site and then make what they want.. and would not have to fear being attacked by mad mappers who all need custom models. =)

I would make sure to link to the SnarkPit too.. as I really enjoy this site and its people.. besides its very helpful to newbie mappers like myself. Besides it would be my way of giving back to those that have given me so much, as well as the community in general.

There's gotta be something out there that already covers all those
features, and more, with a bigger and more established userbase. If not, then go for it.

If you find it tell me about it, because I have looked and found nothing yet, other than Polycount, but they do mainly player models for Quake and what not.

i'm all for it. i think people realised early on that there needs to be more variety in the models available to them, so they started to learn how to use various modeling editors. it can't be too long before the fruits of that start to show. eventually, i'd love to see some sort of monthly themed competition for simple models. like something you'd find in a kitchen, or some sort of street furniture, or anything simple that could be zipped up with all the other models entered, and be some sort of themed set of simple props. (see Lep for prizes)

I think its a great idea - it would give mappers a much larger set of
models to work with, and it would give modellers more of a chance to
get their work to be used.
To get something to work, sometimes you just have to beat your head against the wall longer; the skin grows back, but the brick doesn't.

I think its a great idea, but I think it would need to be a high
quality website in order to pull people in. I have no idea what
experience you have in webdesign, but I don't think a simple HTML page
with some freebie forums is going to cut it.

OK I will get started changing my http://thepryde.com into a new mapping resource page. Or If I need to, register a new domain for it. I may need some PHP help getting it set up, so users can have a SNARK like experiance. I like how users here have there profiles and have a place to upload there stuff too. ejoop does the same thing I think.
