you butthole  where did my thread run off to
1st suggestion: imagine i have a PM i want sent, to 10 snarkpit members, all same message, all at once..
that would be nice... have a box much like the delete, where you check which members to send to..
anyways, if its possible it would be cool.

Pretty good idea, though a continuation of this idea might be better. There could be a private forum, in which a thread starter can enter the names of users who are allowed to view and post in that thread. Anyone can start a thread in that forum but can only read threads that they are authorised for. This would mean that for group projects like have happened here on a couple of occasions, things could be organised much better (there is only so much a group wants to discuss in a public forum afterall).
Dunno if thats asking a bit much though, probably much to much hassle to setup for the limited degree of use it would recieve.

i meant no offense duncan, truly.
i just abhor any system that bars members full access to express themselves.
i have been on the s**tty end of many a sticks around here, but no one has ever expressly forbade my right to be stupid.
private forums, are a form of discrimination, elitism, and censorship.

Since the other thread magically disappeared, I've no idea if you read my suggestion of how a user review system could possible work. So, did you? If so what are your thoughts?

suggestion #2
when you quote someone, the text automatically changes to something other than white.. to clearly seperate quote from reply.

light grey or something ... or, even better, don't change the text color, but the text size.

What do you mean by an approved structure? If you mean something like...
[title]
[screenshot 1] [screenshot 2] [screenshot 3]
[review]
[score]
...sort of general outline, then yes I agree whole heartadly, but I don't think it should be the structure of the review itself, as that doesn't leave the writer much creative license.

Yeah I think that would definately be needed - something similar if not identical to the existing reviews would be great. I just wouldnt like it to be done so that the section of the template for the review was split up something like...
[brushwork]
[lighting]
[technical]
[playability]
...and so on. It wouldn't allow for a freeform writing style, and as games journalism is an area I'm becoming increasingly drawn towards, I'd like as much freedom as possible to create my own style.

Rate each seperate thing out of 10 then divide by 5. It's silly only allowing 0-2 for something like architecture.

I think A_S's option sounds more sensible - just rate each section out of 10, then take the average...or skip out the marking for each part, and just give the overall map a grade.

There wouldn't be a 'structure', just a suggested guideline, along the reviews of yore. And let you upload 3 screenshots, and have the same gubbins as before (perhaps some of them being optional), along with a final 'verdict' and score. The marking each section bit should go in the guidelines rather than being something you HAVE to do too, I think.

personal request:
as ideas are used/vetoed, some sort of a notice should be posted here, or elsewhere fairly prominent.
this might make it less apt to have repeated requests.

A permanent "Competitions" section of the site, rather than each act as an article.

Sorted that one out. And the 'double posting' thing happens when you try to post the same text twice in a row...

I'm looking into themes, I think a fair bit of code-jiggling will be needed though and it'll take a fair bit of time to do it right.
The 'taskbar' thing- what do you mean by that exactly? How about, say, something on the forum index page listing all the recent topics/posts that have been posted since your last visit?

Sloth, I'll look into something like that on the forum index. Bit pointless for each seperate board as you can just scroll down the page a bit!

Love the new feature for the PM system.. but when you say "more messages stored" are they really stored or deleted. And if they are store, is there a way we can look back at them?

I can't add a new map to my profile for some reason - after submitting one it just takes me back to the control panel page and it hasn't added it

Apostrophes in names shouldn't matter any more, and it shouldn't kick you back to the control panel without giving you some kind of reason why... try it again for a 'simpler' map and edit it. Might be some crazy stuff going down if you're trying to upload files?
A_S, what did you search for and where? Seems to work fine for me!

It was originally "Flatshaded (working title)", but when that didn't work I figured it might not like the brackets and tried just "Flatshaded", which had the same effect  I tried again just now but clicking on "add a new map" resulted in a page not found, so I guess yo uare working on it or something.
