Inspired by Juim's Chronicles of Riddick thread, I've decided to also re-post my Beyond Good and Evil pimpage from the NS forums here  Trust me, it's worth it...

Yes, I know I rant about this game in every other post I make. And I know it's been discussed before. But there is no excuse for not owning this game. At 19.99 for all platforms (PC, Xbox, GC, and PS2), everyone should have reason to get at least one copy. I own two - one for GC and one for Xbox, having just finished the GC version and started the Xbox version.

Go to http://beyondgoodevil.com/us/. Watch the intro. Then on the main page, click the "watch the trailer" link.

It is seriously the best game I have ever played, but sadly as a result of being the victim of undermarketing in the shadow of Prince of Persia, it will probably never get the sequel it deserves. Hence why I strongly recommend buying it. Every person I know who has played it has loved it, and as time goes on more and more people talk of its greatness. Maybe if the sales numbers continue Ubi will get smart and let Ancel and co. go full force with a properly marketed BG&E2.

Come on, you all know you want another round of a sexy green-eyed lady who can kick some serious **** with a really big stick.

There is a PC demo available for anyone interested in checking it out, even if you might buy it on another system.

Seems like a very promising game. I like the music in the trailer too. Is this game new?, I've never heard of it before.

It actually came out about the same time as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, but Ubi focused their marketing might on that one and let this one slide. No on bought it not because it was bad, but because no one had heard of it. One of the greatest games in recent years thus dropped to bottom level prices and quietly started disappearing from shelves.

I'm doing my small part to make sure it isn't forgotten.

I've always meant to pick it up (ever since reading previews of it
before it was released), but other games took precedence at the time
and I've not got around to getting it since. I certainly plan on
getting it sometime though, looks good

Just tried to pursuade my housemate to get it for his GC. He found it for ?17 and might get it after exams are over. Looked pretty good from the website/trailer, but why on earth couldn't they have a high-res version? I think in 'the modern broadband era', we can cope with movies slightly larger than 3 megabytes...

He also wants to buy monkey ball and viewtiful joe, anybody got either of these and like them?

[edit] KFS, are you on the Ancel payroll? [/edit]

MY flatmate got Viewtiful Joe, and it seemed cool but he found it too
tough and traded it in. I only played a couple of levels and enjoyed
them, but it is quite hard. Not that thats a bad thing to be honest,
most games these days are too easy, and its nice to be presented with a
challenge now and then.

The broadband hasn't reached me yet so I'm just glad that it was a 3mb trailer  . They should have both a high-res and a low-res... to make everyone happy

Viewtiful Joe is good. It is challenging, but like the recent Nintendo only GC games, they seem to be getting back to how the original nes games were, good and hard  (most nes games were for hardcore gamers, since they took hours on end and there was no such thing as saving, I remember having pages and pages of 'level codes' for various games  )

Viewtiful Joe 2 looks great as well... Play as Sylvia as well as including co-op play? Hot damn!

My game collection has had surprising console growth recently...

But that's beside the point... GO BUY BEYOND GOOD & EVIL!

Sorry to drag up this old thread, but BGE is in the HMV summer sale for ?9.99 on PS2 if anyone is interested  I snagged a copy yesterday. Would have preferred to get the GC version but they wanted ?19.99 for that

the PS2 one

Driv3r (hoo ha...) is a great one try (not sure if it's gonna be multi platform though). The graphics are smash-your-table-hot, the car physics are still great (not quite as good though) at the crash physics are better than ever.

Like having an Xbox game on your ps2.

I've been playing some hardcore...Animal Crossing.

Haha, not exactly the most difficult of games, nor story driven, but it's a lot of fun and there's a ton of replay in it. I like my GC, it's a real sleeper hit I think. I play it more than my other consoles now, although I have been known to break out a random game of my PSX/PS2 collection and play that for a few weeks now and then. I have enough games that there is always something that I haven't completely obliterated yet.

KungFu, you have tons of PC games, but the total number of games you have... (hate to say this but) I don't think it compares to the amount of game I have....

Your the only one it seems, most others seem to agree its the best
single player FPS since Half-Life, if not ever. I've not played it
though, so I can't really comment.

CoD was excellent. Could have been improved by having a longer SP campaign, but what there was of it was surprisingly immersive.

I have to say i've been quite surprised by BG&E. I wasn't what I was expecting at all - I thought it was going to be a simple action kind of game but its got a lot more depth to it than I was lead to believe. It's basically what Starfox Adventures was trying to be, but done proper.

Great game! Cheers for the recommendation Mr. Weldon

All right - you guys really need to check out Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.
It's another one of those passed-over games that's probably $20 used
(or maybe new) right now. And it's out for all three
systems. This is a platformer / third-person shooter where you
play as a robot named Glitch fighting other robots. The weapons
are fun and upgradable, there's a joystick tether thing that lets you
take over other robots too and you can wreak havoc with them! The
storyline isn't bad and the dialogue is pretty funny and full of robot
puns. The multiplayer is one of the most fun games I've played
4-player and I'd really recommend picking it up.

Figured I would join in on the console discussion, now that I actually have something to say. I normally don't play consoles, or follow their games, as I don't own any. On the rare occasion, I will play the xbox at my sisters house.

This weekend, I borrowed a friends PS2 and played "Ratched and Clank: going commando".......holy crap, this game is good! I was very, very impressed with the depth of this game. On the surface, it seems like another 'cute animal w/ sidekick mascot', kinda game. Once you get going, though, you quickly see that they have managed to incorporate a huge variety of great gameplay elements, borrowing from the best parts of many, many of our favorite games. I was simply amazed at the amount of innovation, eye candy, and balance this game displayed, and found myself playing it for hours on end.

This makes me wish I could afford to buy an Xbox, and PS2. As a student, and lover of video games, I deserve them right?? Where's that money tree? raaar~!

No matter where you are in the game, it will only get better

Finger: I never wanted a PS2 until, for a research session for my contract job prior to starting at Raven (a PC platformer) I got to see Jak and Daxter and Jak II in action. I now want a PS2 solely for the Jak and Ratchet and Clank series, two games each with a third for each coming out later this year. Incredible stuff.

I'm a total platformer junkie now

Man ... if you think Ratchet and Clank series is good, play Onimusha (totally BADASS!)

The first game takes about 5 to 6 hour to blow through ... but oh man, will you ever be playing it over, over, and over again.
I'm personally waiting for the price of 3 to go down. (you can probably find Onimusha 1 and 2 for like $30 (US) total)

On another note: PLAY ICO GODDAMMIT!

[Note]
I'm not a big fan of the Jak series.

I've had Metal Arms for a few months but not played it too much yet - 'tis pretty good though. Only problem I have is that I get obsessive about finding all the hidden bits (in this case gold chips), so I end up getting annoyed with the game too quickly...i've still not finished Mario Sunshine cos of those damn Shines!

And in BG&E, i've just got 'double H' (Hub) back to the Iris base, so i'm going to spend a few pearls tonight and see what this 'jump' pack does for my hovercraft. I can see me getting sucked into the photographing black-hole too....gotta catch 'em all dontyaknow!

Onimusha surely has very little in common with Ratchet and Clank -
isn't the latter a platformer, while onimusha is basically a survival
horror game in a new setting? Onimusha is also put to shame by Ninja
Gaiden - similar style of game but with full 3D environments and loads
more moves / weapons. Perhaps Onimusha 3 can bring the series up to its
level however.

I agree once again that anyone who hasn't
MUST play Ico, its a necessity

Oh, just at Double-H's intro? So much incredibleness yet to go! Now here's the deal. If you like this game, you have to tell everyone you know about it, whether they like games or not, and make sure they get out there and buy it!

Maybe if enough people put in enough word-of-mouth sales and Ubi takes notice, just maybe there can be a sequel... just maybe... sniff
