One small suggestion: sometimes power lines do not follow streets. it might add a bit to have them not do so. i mean, everything is not always straight lines.

Another suggestion, check out http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/Hammer/html/Face_Edit_Mats.html and look under "Smoothing Groups". Try applying them to some of those corners, it would probably make them look a lot nicer.

Here's an example of what smoothing groups do, it's a splitscreen of the same column:

I am really beginning to like how the screens are showing improvement bud.. i dunno if this map is in the forums yet, but you might consider placing it there.. it will give you space to post more screens. work-in-progress shots always do wonders for feedback.
very nice map.

This is the forum thread about my latest map 'crossfire219'. Here I can show you more screenshots of it. Well let's go.

There are still some unfinished areas (some screenshots are showing them).

Crossfire's yard:

Ramp with invisible brushes in it (so you can walk over it without getting stuck):

End of the map with more than just a simple wall:

Unfinished building to the right:

One of crossfire's basements (the smaller one), the lightning (dark/bright) is still too exaggerated, though:

The path towards the small basement:

The unfinished part of the map:

Another end of the map using the 'old, industrial trainstation' theme:

I hope this was worth the ~2 MB of JPG files you had to download.

This doesn't look anything like Crossfire, and as such it gets two
thumbs up from me. THIS is how I like to see the HLDM maps converted
I'll save any comments for when I see this in game.

it is so nice to see a person listen to my suggestion without the need to be an asshole about it. your map looks excellent bud.

whispers

XAT was calling you however, 85k bud, 85k

sits back up straight

just because a map shares a name, by no means means it must be a solid for solid remake.. i think you have moved well up in the charts of snarkpits more accomplished mappers. certainly above the assholes who won't listen.

well done

Reminds me of the german TheWall contest, those guys made some very
surprizing remakes of official DM levels. Indeed, your map looks and
feels completely different, though personally I'd like levels to be a
bit more bright. A sunny athmosphere makes me more happy while
fragging...

Nevertheless, a good job so far.

Looks very nice.

One minor thing on that trainstation column light model - set it skin 1 so it has a light-up skin and it looks like it's actually on. Or, you did and I just can't see it

Great job! who are these assholes that everyone's talking about? Anyway, your powerlines are a LITTLE too thick, maybe scale them down a bit?

See this for advice on powerlines. http://www.snarkpit.com/forums.php?forum=2&topic=3223&29

As ReNo said, I think I'll have to see
it in game for things like connectivity. But so far it looks
excellent.

Make the buildings taller, trim your architecture, make the lighting smooth around corners. It looks so simple now; I don't get any sense of scale, any atmosphere beyond an attempt to emulate Ravenholm. A considerable portion of almost all of your screenshots is just dark sky. Put some wires there, have some lights cast across the yard, something - it looks too normal right now.

I think the blood in the bathroom is more than a little gratuitous.

Use a better wood floor texture.

Looks like it's more inspired by crossfire then just a crossfire
conversion. Which is good, because I don't feel like crossfire is
very well suited to HL2's gameplay (TAU TAU TAU! LJ LJ LJ!).
Looks nice on many levels, hope it plays well. Good luck!

I love the level of detail, i guess it doesnt have to be similar to the original to rock
