google is your friend.

but remember, you get what you pay for, free, isn't free of hassles sometimes.

sometimes (as with my ISP) you get free space with your internet. ask your ISP, i got 750 megs with my DSL.

remember, lots of sites won't even LET you host anything but images and .html

My s**tty host doesnt accept exe, zip, rar, mp3, vmf or ANYTHING for that matter. Also lots of "free" hosts will banner your site up for you nice and pretty.

This is how to do it: set up an account at angelfire. Upload your zip.

They do not allow direct links to .zip files, so create a HTML document containing a link to your zip.

Linking to the HTML file works fine.

Feel free to send any files over that you want hosted. I'll put them up on my webserver.

Would you be able to accommodate my file too? I have a map that's almost complete but nowhere to upload.

I greatly appreciate your generosity if you grant me the space. The zipped .bsp is around 2.8 MB.

Use the web space that 9/10 ISPs give you for nothing and usually with no download limits.

You can upload your map there. You'll also get a lot of d/l's from it. Takes a couple of days for them to get it up.

Xcon, these replies will inevitably get lost in the shuffle, if you desire to host, you should either add it to your profile, or your "user" news..

Will do bud. I'll build a script for it this afternoon, and will post it as user news sometime this evening.

Modest, but functional. Opinions / Suggestions / Bugs please.
Hopefully my news will be accepted, and more people will know about it.

Nice xcon :smile: .

Perhaps you could make a list or something so that people could view
all uploaded maps. And perhaps a field to enter a nick or something so
that people can see who's uploaded what.

Max filesize is about 3 meg
Typo? You realize that the moderately-size dm_lockdown is about 11 meg, right?

No typo. I've no idea, dont do mapping myself. Do you guys need more?

I'll impliment the usernames later on otz, but its prone to abuse
without a lot of farting around with it. For the map list, simply go to
http://www.technowax.net/null/uploaded_maps , I dont mess around with
any sort of directory protection really, you're free to view most
directorys on my site.

Thanks, xconspirisist. But when I tried uploading my map to the
site last night, it rejected my file (with some cryptic error message).

My file is just under 3 MB (2.9 MB or so), and I believe I've done
everything correctly. Any reason why I am having trouble?

I am going to try again right at this moment...

My attempt at uploading the file was foiled again. I've copied down the error message:
Cant upload that.

Here's some debugging info:
Array
(
[userfile] => Array
(
[name] => Justice.zip
[type] =>
[tmp_name] =>
[error] => 2
[size] => 0
)

)

I was uploading a .zip file. Nothing fancy.
