So which game or games have your favorite music. I'm not talking about style but out of all the games which ones have the coolest music you've ever hear while playing a video game.
My all time picks would have to be Half Life (listen to the music on the cd), Halo, and FFX.

the very first thing i do upon loading any game is to locate the "off" button for any music. i do not want to hear it.. period.
i was rather disappointed today. they had a quiz on the fm radio.. do you guys know which two games hold the #1 and #2 slot for all time sales?
yeah you might know, but i sure didn't.. i was shocked, and nauseated all at once. well i like #2, but #1 made me woozy.

Beyond Good and Evil
World of Warcraft
Freedom Fighters
Chronicles of Riddick
Incredible scores to these. Riddick is maybe a bit repetitive, but the themes are solid and have some really cool variations. WoW has tracks reminiscent of Howard Shore's LOTR music and some really imposing 7/4 stuff, particularly on the Horde side. Freedom Fighters is the king of threatening Russian/eastern european themes.
Beyond Good and Evil is probably my favorite, though... Incredible mixes of electronic, orchestral, various oriental themes. Amazing.
Oh, and the single Brothers in Arms theme released online was incredible... go go gadget Prague Philharmonic! Picked that one up yesterday but haven't had a chance to play it yet... can't wait to hear more of that.

Final Fantasy X had some great music. I like the music in Guild Wars so
far as well. The Metal Gear Solid series also has some real goodies,
but there seems to be a lot that is great but not necessarily memorable
in them as well.

#1 has got to be 'The Sims' or something like that?
Like Orph, I tend to turn music off these days as i'd rather play my own music in the background - but the music that I remember most fondly is from Zelda III, and Super Mario Bros. Simplistic but catchy, and I can guarantee that they'll stick in your head for days after playing!

I've always liked the music in MoH, but that's mostly because it fits while you're playing.
I enjoyed the music in Enter the Matrix, mainly because it's the entire Matrix score by Don Davis. (this is what made the game slightly feel like the films)

The game "XIII" has some pretty good music too ... the game mixes its
music to the action you've got on screen. Jazz, Techno, Rock ... nice
and clean mixes !

Doom on the PSX had a great soundtrack (miles better than the rubbish
on the PC), but my favourite soundtrack has to be either Silent Hill, MGS 3 or
Final Fantasy 8. The ending song on Max Payne 2 deserves a mention as well.

"One Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy VII was an incredible song, and
the general boss battle music was also amazing, but I think like
Andrew, Beyond Good and Evil may well steal the top spot for game
soundtracks. It really is awesome, being humourous, atmospheric,
charming, non-intrusive and just plain enjoyable all at the same time.
Much love for the first time in Mammago's (rasta hippos for gods sake!)
and the Akuda Bar

GTA3 and GTA:VC are the uncrowned kings of pc-game soundtracks, having entire hours of listening pleasure.
