I am at work right now, but I came across this interesting link. I can't watch the movie on the computer myself, because I don't have administrative privileges.

But has anyone seen this yet? I read that the reviews from other gamers are pretty enthusiastic.

Just downloaded and watched the video, and I have to say the direction
and editing was really pretty good. Paul Marino was responsible
for that, and I have to say he did pick some very good parts of HL2 to
put into this video. However... I didn't like the song he chose
to use: "So Cold" by Breaking Benjamin. The violent nature of the
game lends its self to angry music, I suppose, but it definitely isn't
easy on the ears. If you like heavy music, you'll probably like
this video. If you can't stand heavy music, its probably still
worth a viewing with the volume on 0.

I'm trying to imagine a machinima music vdeo set to a Beatles song... doesn't really work.

The G-Man singing horribly bloated Americanised Chart-Pushing "hard
rock" anthems while pulling self-absorbed overly-emotive faces ala
Scott Stapp, Aeron Lewis and Chad Kroeger?

It's an awesome video. It has captured the best of HL2, and it incorporated into the soundtrack seamlessly.

What a great night! The music video and the new DM maps from Valve. It made working all day worth the pain.

Yeah so its kinda cheesy, but its extremely well done. I enjoyed it and
was really impressed. I think it shows HL2 in a really good light, and
would be a good promotional video except for the fact it contains
spoilers.

Well this isn't something you get for a "listen" as much as for a watch
 If you just wanted to listen, you'd only need the mp3 of whatever
random, angsty, somewhat generic hard rock tune it is that plays in the
background.

I liked it, I've already seen it before this post in fact, but I didnt post it, because I knew people here wouldn't like it. Just the fact that it had breaking benjimin in it made it better....

Paul's blog explained the process in detail. You have to scroll down to read the relevant part.

I thought it was well done.
The music was well chosen and the effects were also cool although I swear I saw bits where you could see the skybox...

My favourite bit is where Gman sings and the bit where the portal opens up because that was a very cinematic experience and was very clever when the gunships flew out of it.

I wish it has more clips of Dog throwing things. But my favorite
part of the video is the beginning and towards the end, where you see
all the rebel fighters aiming their weapons and watching
apprehensively. Great camera work!

And the last fraction of a second in the video, it says something like
"Rise and Shine" and something else. I tried reading it by
slowing the framerates down, but I still couldn't catch the full
message.

I tried looking up the source of inspiration for the lyrics, but I couldn't find anything on Google.

Crowded streets are cleared away

One by One

Hollow heroes separate

As they run

You're so cold

Keep your hand in mine

Wise men wonder while

Strong men die

[Chorus]

Show me how it ends it's alright

Show me how defenseless you really are

satisfied and empty inside

That's alright, let's give this another try

If you find your family, don't you cry

In this land of make-believe, dead and dry

You're so cold, but you feel alive

Lay your hands on me one last time

[Chorus x2]

It's alright [x9]

Was the lyrics specifically composed for Half-Life 2? It seems quite fitting for the theme and the storyline.

This music video epitomises the term "badass". I wish I oculd make machinima like that...

Yeah, a lot of people don't like the soundtrack. I am surprised
that I like it so much, especially knowing that I am a New Orlean Jazz
kinda of guy. The song was stuck in my head all day yesteday.

But I guess my taste in music is pretty diverse. I have Diana Krall next to Eminem on the CD rack.

After a long delay, the latest version of "Still Seeing Breen" was released.

I am quite disappointed, actually. I like the previous version better.
