SIG's

Does anyone here make sigs?

I am just learning, been useing windows paint.. but I am starting to try my hand at Photoshop and Image ready.. and its a difficult program considering what I have been useing.

But I want to learn, and I have taken part in a sig making contest this week... the theme is tech... but I am not sure what to do.. any ideas?

Any good tuts out there I can try? I want to make a killer sig..

Signatures, as far as I know.

As for tutorials ... uh ... just use google and look for tutorials for specific effects.

I suppose, for tech (future) stuff. Hexagons seem to be pretty tech looking. So do random lines that seem to form paths (like circuitry) glowing colors.

What's sigs, precious?

Like the one you have below that says you tried sniff coke but the ice cubes blah blah blah.. but instead most forums alow images.. it seems to be all the rage now to have a killer SIG. SOme places even charge money to make them for people.. I do it just because I like to create stuff.

a screenshot from hammers 3d window, like the one at the top right of this page, could give a sig a nice techy feel. and it doesn't look like something that any of the standard photoshop plugins would create, so you'd have a degree of originality.

Thats what I came up with, by looking at a few tuts.

BUMP

Looks nice, but the moneyshot text is too simple compared to the rest.
Make it more shiney to fit it. Animating sigs can get pretty annoying
after a while too, unless you do it subtle and not so fast.

But why not a sig that fits well with your avatar? I like consistency between those... :smile:

Most of them were made in Windows paint.. just recently have I sarted to use Photoshop and imageready... I have a long way to go.. but I do it because I enjoy it.

Sigs are good, sig images are annoying, and quite often bigger than the message.

dude thats awesome... but purple isnt all my style. Now blue looks hot...



I'll play around with it myself, and tell you if I need anything. I did
like the backround money shot had on that other one with the terrorist
and such.

Can you or anyone else tell me how to get the abckroun effect. All the
sigsI see look good because of the backround. If I could get that down,
I could make decent sigs.

I made a couple of versions, I added some shadow and such to it. Tell me what you think looks the best...



This one has white letters with a shadow

obviously, I added a Windows XP logo on (i couldnt get a 98 logo to work right)

lol i know, i should start from the begining to make the scan lines
blend well, its just that PS crashed, and i lost the PS save, so i had
to work without the layers of the text\colors etc...

Im ready to do you another by tommorow, just tell me what you EXACTLY want..

Tech\Grunge\Abstract and colors, and any image, ill try remebering my latest skills :biggrin:

I already said, khave like Money Shots, were it has like T's and CT's
blended into the backround. In Blue, my name in that same font would be
ok. And try to blend in a Windows 98 logo with a very low opacity
somewhere in there.

Sigs can be quite artistic, and I admire them for their beauty and as technical acheivements.

However, for practical reasons, I am super annoyed by them. In
those forums that allow fancy sigs, I have a hard time finding the
actual content of the post sometimes. I have to scroll slowly
just to find the text (and sometimes it's just a couple of words).

In addition, those huge sigs take up a lot of space. So an entire
screen can just have one or two posts because most of the space is
taken up by the sigs.

One-liners are the best. Succinct and to the point.

those don't look all to hard to make, you just made an outer glow on
the copy pasted and scaled down snark pit thing. then wrote snark pit
user and colored the first letter, in a custom font. And then you used
a inner shadow or a gradient gold backround.
