That's actually less so than the model sheet

Massive images are the best kind of images for drawings/paintings, IMHO
The lizard is very cool, I'd love to see that one in more a finished state.
Can't pin a name, but the face definitely rings a bell.
I love the expression on the guy's face in the last pic, to me that tells a story of two words "You lose."
Crit:
It looks to me like there would be much less light on the top of his head and his forehead. His left arm, or lack thereof, also kind of throws me off.
Great stuff overall

Good call Baron - I'm not quite happy with the structure of the guy yet. I think your right, the light isn't doing a good enough job of describing his head. It's sort of flat atm. His left arm is 'under construction' . I'll update the pic as I work on it.

One thing sticks out for me (since its an early wip)
Is this creature going to be a tri-clops? I mean, it looks like it has an eye on its forehead.
If so, coolness. If not, work on eye placement for a two eyed creation.
The best things in life, aren't things.

Neglected to mention that, yes, it has three eyes
The ones on the side can't look in the same direction at once, so it uses the center eye for binocular vision. The tongue is studded with teeth that constantly grow, and it uses that to chew by wrapping it around prey like a constrictor snake and crushing/tearing, rather than using it's jaw. That's why there are so few normal teeth, they're just for grabbing prey and not letting it go so the tongue can rip it to shreds. The first version I drew had it standing like a T-Rex and the jaw wasn't connected in the middle so each side would move independently.

Cool drawing Baron. It looks like you're putting alot of thought into the design. I think the view of the animal isn't doing it justice, however. If it's gonna have 3 eyes, you might want a perspective that shows this. Also, most of the character and energy of an animal is displayed in his stance. Give us a perspective that shows a little more of his body and how he might move. I would suggest doing some quick gesture drawings with simple lines - this will help you find a nice energetic pose for him.
Natus - your guy looks pissed!

Thanks Finger. That drawing sputtered and stalled shortly after I started shading, due to my lack of understanding of value. I was gonna color it and whatnot, but I'll leave that for a later date when I'm better with value and form.

3ds Max can open autocad files and convert them to an editable mesh. I don't know if that's always been the case though, or only now that they're owned by the same company.

I'm more interested in how he did those textures! They're very nice, as well
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

thanks!
I'm going to try to put the displacements around the hole, I'm assuming it will not be easy. If it gets to be too much of a chore, I may cheat and put a wooden cover on the hole. lol
The UV textures were "baked out" in blender (texture & ambient occlusion shading UV), then I had to spend some quality time in photoshop CS2. glad you like them.

Stadric wins. It's the suspension from a tamiya baja champ that I've had lying around for some time.
RedWood, it was all done with calipers.
