I'll be glad when the lot of you get over 18 years old so we can hook up on one of my runs. I am not going to believe that everyone is off the beaten path as much as Nickel is.

My hats off to Doc and Nickel. To link up in so out of the way place isn't easy. Every time I pass by someone who is over 18 and wants to meet up, some bulls**t event happens. I have missed Doc Brasso twice and Monqui once. I have missed Moneyshot and Crono, although Crono bowed out on his own accord that time. :razz:

So far, only Tracer Bullet has had to endure my ugly puss in a real life encounter. I imagine he went home and took a long shower and lots of visine.

You can't discount anyone's opinion on grounds of age. because an 80-year-old man whose never been off his 40 acres in rural Arkansas is still allowed to argue physics with a 27-year-old nuclear physicist who's been to college. When it comes to facts, there's no telling WHO will know what. You don't know jack crap about what someone else knows because you have not had thier life experience. I don't know everything that's happened in your life, and I don'[t know everything that you know. But it's not because all lives follow the same path and I'm just not as old as you. Just like YOU can't know everything that I know and everything in my life, because you haven't lived it.

Maybe when stating opinions, we can cite the facts or life experiences that led us to those conclusions to help others understand better WHY we think we are right instead of them. Because saying "You're wrong" doesn't help. "Here's why I think you're wrong." makes it a lot easier.

Something that Blister said that I think is really true about forums like this. We have members who have been here for years. Over the years we can actually see how peoples' opinions and beliefs change. Most of us actually become wiser from the insight of others on the forum. I know I've changed a lot as a person in just the past year. More than you know. It's awesome too because I think without a forum like this one I'd be a lot more ignorant.

plus i can think of a few members here who came in with a big mouth like the 1337 teens they were, but the culture here seemed to mature them quite fast. Putting full credit on snarkpit seems an overestimation though. Mostly it's a part of growing up, but the speed at which these changes occured seem to point out snarkpit as a big contributor.

Doc, my replies will clarify themselves long after I am gone. They really have no concrete "THIS WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND" type of answer.

As you said, experience helps. Someday, your experience will catch up to you and.... some form of clarity will happen. There is some kind of a barrier between before/enlightenment. And no amount of explanation will breach it. Sorry. :sad:

As far as you defending Nickel, I am unsure what you mean. Nickel digs his own holes, if you want to join him in one of them go for it. You don't have to defend him to be there. If you ever nail him down to where he cannot squirm out of the answer you post, he will totally ignore it in favor of creating chaos in another thread he is free to move about in.

Nickels only redeeming quality is his tenacity. I admit it gets old, but at least he doesn't change to a different person daily.

if i understand orph correctly he is not trying to tell nickel that he will agree with his ideas, but will finally realize that orph is not always trying to tell him he's wrong or one-up him, only showing him another way to look at things

Let me see if I can try one last time to make it make sense.

I know that on some level you already view "AGE" I am not going to believe that you think that some 12 year old, or (pick any random age you wish thats younger than yourself) has the same view on life, or the same opinions and values you do. I refuse to believe it, even if somehow you say you believe that a 12 year old could possibly have any opinion you'd share.

Same holds true with adults. Its not really that we intentionally mean to be disrespectful of youth, but more so that we have already been there type of viewpoint. In other words, unless you have done something DRASTICALLY different, you are pretty much going to do the same things we have.

Now carry that to the next step. One day, you to are going to reach that threshold. This isn't some magical number like "when you reach 25 you are going to be blessed with maturity" My parents are incredibly immature on many things and they are obviously much older than I. BUT GUESS WHAT? I am still the f**king kid in their minds. Go figure.

Anyway, my point is that someday you will reach an age to where when you happen to think about some of the weird things I said once, you won't necessarily think "WEIRD" You are more apt to understand, even if its still something you totally disagree with.

For instance, I firmly and whole heartedly believe that in order to have an opinion "OF VALUE" that you have to have some experience in the opinion. If you think spaghetti noodles make better recipes than macaroni, then obviously you must know something about cooking... (although eating might marginally qualify you, it would depend on the direction the discussion when)

Anyway, my views on valuable informed opinions are based on my "AGE" outlook. It doesn't mean that I discriminate against age. If I needed advice on a application of a CAD program I would prolly seek out Doc Brassballs. If I needed some literary advice, I would prolly seek out Gollum. If I needed advice on flying, I would be more apt to seek out WildCard. But my reasons are, they have an informed view of the subject matter. I wouldn't seek out non-informed individuals in spite of the fact that they may feel that their opinions are just as good as anybodies. Their view of THEMSELVES is no concern of mine.

Younger people would think that is pure bulls**t. Everyone has an opinion and thats the end of the story.

Anyway, perhaps that clears up some of the smokiness.

Perhaps, but I abhor ignorance that can be changed. It may or may not sink in very fast, but I always hope that it will sink in eventually. Some of these members are at the crux of adulthood. They have got to see something of what I am saying. The rest are either already adults and are ignoring my posts or to young to give a s**t what I type.

As strange as it may seem, I like getting those messages that finally say something about enlightenment. They may still think I am full of s**t but they understand now "why".. Its no longer just prepubescent angst.
