I don't see how this is anything like CS. CS has regressed into only de_map game, sure there are cs maps but they are over looked by most players. Interesting, fun maps are all but gone from CS. I mean, dust2 is fun, but when its the only map with real people playing at a given time...
DoD could have de maps, but the game play of DoD would make it completely different.
While DoD is expanding and growing, CS is becoming more linear and its players are becoming much more narrow minded. New CS players don't know about cs_backally, as_tundra, and number of other maps.

Think clan play is to blame for the focus on DE, most leagues have been doing DE maps exclusively since.. oh.. beta 8? Maybe a little later, but it's been the focus for quite awhile now

as_tundra was the s**t. I remember playing that for about 5 hours straight at a LAN Party. Followed it up with some Warpath on TFC.
Oh the good old days...

I'm quite partial to cs_thunder myself  But as_oilrig is deffinetly a close second...
I've never been much of a DoD fan; when I looked at the nuts and bolts of the game, it was really nothing more than a very slow and annoying version of TFC to me. Still though; DoD players see something in it, and that's good. I also feel that de_ styled stuff is becoming much to copied in modern gaming in general.
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

Pffft you're all big noobs! Beta 8? Get with the program - CS was at
its best in beta 4 / 5.2. They still had es_jail then, and that was
the dogs bollocks along with original de_nuke and cs_tire.

I remember playing CS beta 3 (or something as such). I didn't think it was good then and I don't think it's good now.
If Dod is going down that path, I will be very distraught. That game really has game-play unlike any other I've played throughout the years. Even other WW2 MP FPS don't feel the same. Dod is fairly unique in that aspect. It'd be a shame to ruin that.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

We arn't the "fanboy" CS players, we are the people who keep a life line on the game. The clans, the 13 y/o asshats, the hackers, the crappy-map-likers, the kill-box players, the killbox makers, the blah, blah, rant, rant.... rant... rant...

I don't see what's to complain about. DoD has always had the demolition gameplay, now they are just bringing it to Source. As mentioned before Glider aswell as Charle were both demolition maps, and CS's demolition is much different from DoD's. I just wish Valve would hurry up and release, Glider, Charlie, Caen, and Forest.

I started out playing TFC, then started playing CS, then DoD, and I have to say I love all three of these games.
I love DoD for the atmosphere (and they've done a good job with this in DoD:S). I also love DoD for the last second flag defends, powerful grenades, different classes, and the maps are filled with z-axis gameplay.
When I was playing DoD:S last summer, I really got into argentan, I just loved fighting for that middle cap point.
I'd also like to see Glider. I really enjoyed playing as the British, with their dual clip bolt action rifles. Very fun to snipe with it while advancing at the same time
Anyway, I think TFC, CS, and DoD are great in their own regards, and I hope none of them start melding gameplay styles. DoD is already pretty fast paced, but it's a good sign that no fy_dod maps exist (at least I hope they don't!).

My favriote CS map of all time was cs_estate. Simply because it actually seemed like a house, as opposed to a labyrinth style map.
