Now I dont know if this has been done before but I was wondering who you all thought was thebest James Bond. I recently saw the New 007 movie Casino Royal with some freinds and I must say i really enjoyed it.

But any way Who do U think is the best james bond. I reackon that Daneil Craig, Peirce Brosman and Roger Moore where the best. Although I am epecting that you will all love Sean Conery. Cast Votes NOW!!!!

95% on Rotten Tomatoes:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/casino_royale/

Which, if you know that site, is freaking amazing.

I really enjoyed it. Craig was great, Eva Green was amazing, and it was all-around probably the best Bond flick ever. The only thing... it felt a little long to me. But it was such a nice ride I didn't mind much.

CRAP. I was going to go see Eragon today but.. maybe not...

Of course, I'm a purist.I feel like Sean Connery embodied the true spirit of Bond as the Broccoli family envisioned it. Roger Moores Bond was fettered down with a certain 70's cheeziness that I never quite liked(Like the big metal mouth guy Jaws). Same is true for Pierce Brosnan, while he was possibly the handsomest Bond, his films were filled with too much "Bond-ish" pageantry and alittle too grandiose with not much in the way of believable action sequences or substance.

Dalton, Lazenby and Niven were just Bond fillers if you will. Although Dalton gave it a run though.

I have'nt seen the newest installment yet so I'll have to reserve my judgement on Craig.

I thought the Dalton movies were great movies, they just weren't great Bond movies. He was a little too nice, Bond needs to be a little more scary. Underneath all the charm, he is an assassin and a killer.

I'll have to agree with Juim. Sean Connery really did embody the true
spirit of James Bond, and I don't think theres anyother actor out there
who can reproduce what Sean Connery brought to the big screen.

But in general all the actors that have played bond brought their own
cards to the table, and comparing one bond to the other is like
comparing apples to oranges.

On the main topic of the new bond movie: Craig brought back (as well as
the director - who also directed Golden Eye) the feeling of realism
back to the bond series. With Die Another Day (the last movie) it all
seemed sureal to me, some of the stunts were'nt really stunts, but just
pierce on a blue screen. With Casino Royal it brought back thoes
deftifying stunts that I had come to know bond to do.

Although It had a pretty werid start it was nice

No Q, no money penny. Casino Royal was basically how James Bond
became.... well..... james bond. It was ian flemming's first book if I
recall as well. And the movie does well to show us why James Bond is so
"cold" to the women he meets on his adventures (he lets em in close,
but not too close).

? quote:CRAP. I was going to go see Eragon today but.. maybe not...
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/eragon/

When I saw the trailer for Eragon in theaters for the first time ... I couldn't stop myself from laughing when I saw John Malkovich as the "bad guy" or whoever he is in the movie.

What a terrible actor. I think, actually, he's worse than Nicholas Cage. If you don't think so: watch "Mary Reilly".

Oddly enough, the only movie I can stand him in (or even ... like him in) much like Nicholas Cage, is a Charlie Kaufman penned and Spike Jonze directed film. (Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, respectively)

GODDAMMIT I HATE THAT GUY AND HIS SH*TTY ACTING.

To note, the new Bond is more like the book than any of the other film incarnations.

I think an interviewer put it best when he said that there's two types of Bond: Dean Martin Bond and Frank Sinatra Bond. It sums up every film Bond incarnation to date.

I feel bad for Brosnan. He wanted to make better Bond films and I think, overall, he was probably the best fit for the "Stop the world take over and get the girl" type of Bond and they never gave him a decent enough vehicle after Goldeneye.
However, I do like this newest incarnation the most. It's just the most believable and to be honest, the over the top Bond really became boring. It's like ... it was cool and new and exciting then it became mundane and routine. Their little variations didn't do anything for the series and instead of writing something decent, they scrap everything and reboot the entire series.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Eragon looks pretty weak. I don't hate movies of that genre, but it just seems really cliche.

Saw the new bond...loved it. I'm also getting all 4 of the Ultimate Collections for the previous Bond movies for Christmas (some I'm buying and some the girlfriend). Casino Royale has the same director as my other favourite Goldeneye, too. I thoroughly enjoyed the step back from CG and the standard over the top stuff. And it was the most listenable dialogue I've seen in a movie in a long time. Pretty well everything about it was worth it and that's coming from someone who's pretty cynical about most movies these days.

Sadly, I thought the whole James bond theme went south after Roger Moore.. Actually, Sean replayed his role after Roger, but one cannot fault him much.

IMO, there were only two Bonds. Each named James.

What? Sean Connery was the first Bond. Dr. No, 1962.
Roger Moore didn't play Bond until 1973 in Live and Let Die.

For further clarification here's a slightly chronological list of Bonds:

Sean Connery (1962 - 1968)
George Lazenby (1969)
Sean Connery (1971, Diamonds Are Forever)
Roger Moore (1973 - 1985)
Sean Connery (1983 - Non-MGM produced Never Say Never Again)
Timothy Dalton (1987 - 1989)
Pierce Brosnan (1995 - 2002)
Daniel Craig (2006 - Current)

There are also talks with the people who own the books MGM doesn't for bringing Pierce back in some remakes, I don't remember which. It'd be similar to the same situation with Never Say Never Again and would allow the actor to play a more serious Bond as he has wanted for the last decade.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I find it ironic that Brosnan wanted to play a more serious Bond... then MGM dumped him and went with someone else to play... a more serious Bond. Although I think changing the actor and doing a reboot like this was the only way the could truly make that kind of change in tone. I'm surprised they kept Judi Dench as M, even. She was great as always, though.

I think Brosnan is my favorite, if only because he was the current Bond when I truly got into the series. I liked all of them, though. Each actor sort of brings his own thing to the role.

I was afraid I wouldn't like Daniel Craig, but he's turned out to be quite good.

Hmm

/me scratches noggin.

I knew that Sean played Bond twice, but thought Moore took the center position.

Sorry, my bad.

And yes, I thought the guy who played in "On her majesties secret service" did a great job. But as a one hit wonder, his Bond cannot compete for the overall success of both Moore and Connery.

Still, was my bad. Thanx.

[EDIT]

f**k me. I was right, but wrong. I am asleep.

I just re-read your post and it did confirm my reply, if you discount the one hit wonder dude.

Still, I was wrong because in my mind, that guy was #3, and clearly he was not.

Just watched it yesterday with a couple of mates and found it to be pretty much the best Bond movie out there. Bit drawn out towards the end perhaps - eventually half the people in the cinema were making uncomfortable groans and shifting around in their chairs when yet another scene came on instead of the credits  All round classy film though, and Daniel Craig played the role very well.

Watched it on the weekend, and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, I wouldn't say its the best Bond ever. Throughout the entire film I felt like there was something not quite right about it.

The first action sequence when he's chasing the bomb maker just seemed rediculous, here they are talking about making Bond more gritty and real and they put that in. They may as well have sent the Terminator in, I think only he would be capable of creating as much pointless destruction. Not to mention running through a wall and creating an international incident that miraculously fades away. If they caught him on camera and splashed it across the media you'd think MI6 would find his usefulness as a spy somewhat reduced. I suppose I felt if they were going for a realistic Bond they should have made the realism consistent througout.

The story also seemed a bit dragged out and held together with some pretty flimsy links. That may have been a result of changing the setting, and some characters, so dramatically from the original book.

That being said I loved the old Bonds a hell of a lot, so it'll take a little while to get used to the new style. I'm going to see it again soon, so I imagine my opinion will change the second time round.

Funnily enough after watching the new movie, re-watching the old spoof Casino Royale I noticed there was actually a plot to it  .

I did see it that night and i thought it was great. I was so sick of laser-cars and invisble watches and butt-propellers... The realism of this one was great. Other than the remote blood analyzer... kinda iffy, but i bet they have them... Anyway, an A+ in my book.
