Well, it was hardly one sided. My son had a lot to do with the divorce.
Sadly, my daughter-in-law got custody. She is under the impression that if we are allowed to see the kids... We will let my son see them too. The fact that we live 125 miles away from anyone makes that a bit hard to accomplish.
Neither my wife nor I sided with either parent. All we wanted was to be able to see the kids.

That's rough, Orph, hope it all works out in the end.
My worst physical pain would be a tie between pulling a muscle in my upper back lifting too much weight with not enough experience, and the initial pain of getting my thumb stomped on and broken playing soccer.
Getting my thumb broken was definitely more intense, but the pain subsided pretty quickly. I didn't think it was broken 20 minutes after it happened (but damn was it swollen), and the next day it barely hurt at all, just a little sore. When I saw the X-ray I was surprised to see the bone in the tip in two pieces, now my right thumb is wider and flatter than the left.
The muscle injury on the other hand, was a persistent pain that kept me from raising my left hand over my head for about a week (I was limited to around 30? of motion in my shoulder), took more than a month for the constant pain to subside, and almost a year to get the full range of motion again.
I'll go with 'muscle-related', because while it wasn't as intense, it was a lot worse.

I've had my eye socket shattered, but I didn't really feel any physical pain because of lots of alcohol and morphine.
The worst pain I have felt was when I running down George St in Sydney,
tripped on a kerb and broke my collar bone. Felt like my shoulder was
being stabbed. Also meant I had the pain of having to pay for a friggin
ambulance, damn Australian health service!

I can't even imagine how bad a broken collar bone would hurt  Did you have to wear a cast that immobilized your whole arm?
And Rumple, how do you manage injuring your eye so badly you need 30 stitches?!

The worse physical pain I cannot recall was a 26 mile speed march while in basic. I remember almost nothing but the pain of the last 4 miles. I had a cramp in the top of my foot, Absolutely nothing would relieve the cramp.
Also, it was 35* and drizzling rain, so the cold was bone numbing.
I have had broken bones, but nothing compared to that cramp. Unending pain.

I had mono and strep throat at the same time, had to spend my entire spring break in the hospital. The nurse said she'd never seen someone as rough looking as I did. My throat was basically as wide as my head and my throat was probably about as open as a straw/pea. Any swallowing was as brutal as drinking millions of glass shards. I also apparently had a fever of 105F even though I was in too much pain to notice. That's the Coles Notes version, I've had many other moments in my life, but that one was easily the worst.

I used to visit rotten.com regularly until they stopped updating the site so nothing really bothers me pictorially.

Ah yes chronic bowel problems is up there too. I had an 8 day run of
the s**ts and vomiting last year. When I wasn't on the toilet I was
lying on my bed or next to the toilet, exhausted. Bloody awful.
Never did find out what caused it either.

I have been given the body of an old man at an early age thanks to wonderful genetics, my knees hurt when a high pressure front comes in and my back hurts when i serve (tennis) or sit down for long periods of time. Other than the physical pain I get from all of this, the thought that I might be stuck in a wheelchair like my grandfather and not be physically active is a hard thought to consider. I'm going to go for other, or maybe you should just add psychological to the list

I live in South Africa, no naterally Ive had many pains.
Worst pain would be getting shot. Yes, getting shot with a real gun. Here in SA we have lots of hijackings and shootings, and during a hijacking one of the hijackers panicked and shot me in my lung. Luckily we still had our cellphones and I got to the hospital very quickly without dying. Being shot is like being stabbed with a sharp knife which has been heated up in a fire to its glowing white. And in the lungs makes it difficult to breath. Still makes me flinch when I play a FPS and get shot...and hear the splutch.
Also I once split my heel open on a rusty nail, and it actualy sprayed blood. Though the pain went away quite soon. The real pain was when the doctor was removing the bandages which had stuck onto the blood of the wound.
The worst pain iv'e ever seen was during Cricket at school, a guy bowled, the batter hit the ball very hard, and it hit the victim at the bottom of his chin, and caused him to "bite" his tongue, most of his tounge was chopped off.

Orpheus,
I read your first post and thank god I get to see my grandkids all the time after my dau's divorce. It has to be tough and I hope you get to see them soon.
My worst pain...which first... I guess my kidney stone would it I had it for 4 months before i passed it.
Second would be my crushed elbow which I had 2 surgeries to repair.
More than that though IMHO the pain of a loved one dying is the greatest pain anyone can suffer.

Well, to somewhat expand on my illness with mono it effects you for a basically random amount of time afterwards depending on the person. It causes and caused great fatigue for me for a few weeks/months leading up to the week that I was truly ill and in some ways it still persists as I can't always move that extra step that I used to in sports. Plus it was hard to get back into hockey because the illness can cause your spleen to swell and during contact sports it could rupture and potentially kill you.
So I wasn't allowed to even step on the ice for months after...that was extremely hard to deal with as that was the age where I really wanted to push hard to go up in leagues and push for junior and greater. That in itself is sort of a pain I guess.
Other sports related pains I endured were dislocating/fracturing my wrist in rugby and pretty well still playing within a few days afterwards as well as playing hockey, too.
Throwing a body-check in hockey once I hit a nerve in my shoulder and my entire arm fell asleep, I was pretty scared but luckily it slowly started having feeling again after about 15-20s. I've been lucky to not have been concussed or anything like that, but I have been on the giving end of a few brutal hits (nothing cheap but they unfortunately were unlucky).
There are also other things I've done when I was really young that I don't actually remember though, like stepping on a nail and it going through my shoe and foot when I was in Kindergarten, swallowing a penny and having it stick in my airway when I was 2 as well as falling and landing on my lower rib on some plastic toy when I was also 2 and altering how my rib grew as I got older so it now has a funky bend in it.

I recently remembered something that tops my list: Getting a bunch of dirt (grit, crushed leaves and twigs, not dust) blown into my left eye when I was about 9. I had to get it washed out over the course of a few hours, while I was wide awake and screaming, and had to wear an eye patch for two weeks. I thought I was gonna be blind in that eye, but it healed up fine. That is, however, the eye that has astigmatism and much worse vision overall, something like 20/110 compared to 20/60 in the right eye, that may or may not be related, but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference either way since that's just how it is.
To this day I can't stand getting eyedrops, my whole body jumps/starts/convulses involuntarily, last time I got my eyes checked I startled the poor nurse and she fell off her stool.
