... why not.

Welcome to aaron_da_killa'z thread. Here we shall discuss what the worst pain you have ever felt and we shall laugh at other folk's misery. First, let us discuss my worst felt pain.

"It was summer of 05. I was running up and down the hallway like a mad dog playing wrestling with my brother. Suddenly, I felt a short sharp pain then shortly collapsed. I thought I had broken my ankle. But no. The pain was sharp, very sharp. We had an x-ray a few days later and to our surprise it was not bone related. Turns out there was a 3 centimetre long sewing needle (1 inch) that was snapped in half inside my foot smack bang in the center of all views (hammer reference). And guess what it is still there, in my foot. And it did hurt like hell but today, I cant really feel it. I'll put the pics of the x-ray on this site as proof asap."

Now that you folk have heard one story, let us discuss yours. Whats the worst pain you have ever felt?

But wait. there's more chaps. Nifty thing these days called a "Graph". Each person shall vote according to what the pain was related to. We shall then discuss what we are most clumsy at and how we persons can improve our foolish ways. Even if your worst pain is a stomach ache or a head ache or a paper cut, if honest, its a worthy entrant? So whats the worst pain thou have ever felt?

My worse pain (other than putting up with certain miscreants online) was when my grand children were not permitted to see us anymore.

People think that when a couple get a divorce that they are the only ones involved. I haven't seen my grandson in over a year. He is 5 now. I have not seen my grand daughter since she was a week old. She is two now.

I miss the kids.

I vote "other"

Well, it was hardly one sided. My son had a lot to do with the divorce.

Sadly, my daughter-in-law got custody. She is under the impression that if we are allowed to see the kids... We will let my son see them too. The fact that we live 125 miles away from anyone makes that a bit hard to accomplish.

Neither my wife nor I sided with either parent. All we wanted was to be able to see the kids.

That's rough, Orph, hope it all works out in the end.

My worst physical pain would be a tie between pulling a muscle in my upper back lifting too much weight with not enough experience, and the initial pain of getting my thumb stomped on and broken playing soccer.

Getting my thumb broken was definitely more intense, but the pain subsided pretty quickly. I didn't think it was broken 20 minutes after it happened (but damn was it swollen), and the next day it barely hurt at all, just a little sore. When I saw the X-ray I was surprised to see the bone in the tip in two pieces, now my right thumb is wider and flatter than the left.

The muscle injury on the other hand, was a persistent pain that kept me from raising my left hand over my head for about a week (I was limited to around 30? of motion in my shoulder), took more than a month for the constant pain to subside, and almost a year to get the full range of motion again.

I'll go with 'muscle-related', because while it wasn't as intense, it was a lot worse.

Thinks, Having two broken ankles at the same time, and not knowing about it till days later, what happened was I was on a school camp, and must have got 2 small fractures and they got progressively worse, that was pretty bad.

But this was the worst.
Having 30 stitches...

In my eye, painful for a while 'till I got used to them, then if one broke it would be painful again like a tiny little razor blade cutting the inside of my eyelid, having them removed was fine though, anesthetic (drops, in eye) ftw!

Sadly landed on a metal drain cover on my back & it winded me for

I've had my eye socket shattered, but I didn't really feel any physical pain because of lots of alcohol and morphine.

The worst pain I have felt was when I running down George St in Sydney,
tripped on a kerb and broke my collar bone. Felt like my shoulder was
being stabbed. Also meant I had the pain of having to pay for a friggin
ambulance, damn Australian health service!

And Rumple, how do you manage injuring your eye so badly you need 30 stitches?!

The worse physical pain I cannot recall was a 26 mile speed march while in basic. I remember almost nothing but the pain of the last 4 miles. I had a cramp in the top of my foot, Absolutely nothing would relieve the cramp.

Also, it was 35* and drizzling rain, so the cold was bone numbing.

I have had broken bones, but nothing compared to that cramp. Unending pain.

I had mono and strep throat at the same time, had to spend my entire spring break in the hospital. The nurse said she'd never seen someone as rough looking as I did. My throat was basically as wide as my head and my throat was probably about as open as a straw/pea. Any swallowing was as brutal as drinking millions of glass shards. I also apparently had a fever of 105F even though I was in too much pain to notice. That's the Coles Notes version, I've had many other moments in my life, but that one was easily the worst.

I've broken three things that I know about. I'll list them in chronological order.

1) I broke my left wrist falling out of a tree onto the hardest root I've ever seen. That was when I was 7-9.
2) I punched a wall hard enough to break my right ring finger's knuckle. That was pretty painful, but I took it like a man. Today that knuckle is lower than the left hand's. That was a year and a half ago. Since then I've learned how to calm the f*** down.
3) I broke my left big toe falling into an oncoming flight of stairs. That was around the same time as the knuckle.

I've got another three painful and hilarious injuries for later, too. (These three don't include my most painful experience, either. That's coming, though.)

I stitched my thumb before when I was about 9. I was playing around with my mother's auto sewing machine, and flipped a switch in the back that lowered the needle with a thud. Went right through my left thumb, and I couldn't get it out; needless to say I was screaming bloody murder. I was sitting there with the needle stuck for about 3 minutes, hurt like the dickens, for a 9yr-old...

Thanks for sending in your pains and making me laugh. However other than my pain  , there are to outstanding pains, for me. Gwil and Reno you little bastards.

It freaks me out very badly when it comes to eyes. Stitches in the eye and shattered eye socket. YUK!!!!! I almost vomited. Just like the time I almost vomited when my buddy ( 7 years ) stacked it at school and was crying and the snot? and mucus was pouring down his face like a running tap (orph reference) and he stuck out his toung and ate like 3 spoonfuls for snot. hmph errrrrrr. Veins freak me out to. They should never be tempered with. Drips, ewwwww, wrong. Snot is gross. Here is another worst pain for me.

"I was in primary school and a leaf somehow managed to get in my eye. It really hurt but I panicked when my vision in my left eye went red. Something was bleeding in there. Ewgh!!!! "

If I haven't mentioned your pain yet thats because I will later. What thou shall do later, when the pain entries accumulate is thou shall vote on the worst pain. Thou shall win a surprise from me for whom may receive the most votes. However that time is ni. Keep sending in those pains. However for now, thou shall receive some enjoyment, hope you eating breakfast.

None of that disturbs me. Do you know why? Oh I'll tell you why.
I worked as an Athletic Trainer for a year and a half. During the course of that time, I saw a wide variety of sports injuries. I'm not just talking about breaks and sprains, I've seen friction burns the size of dinner plates, chunks of flesh missing, popped cysts (that was a good one), and even bone. Bone was definitely my favorite.

Now I can watch open heart surgery without flinching. Then go out to eat afterwards.

Still...I'm having a hard time figuring out what that first pic is.

The nipple torture from the beautiful afro-caribbean doctor was the funniest pain if ever had, even though it definately wasn't the funnest. I was howling with laughter at the madness of lying there, allowing this really, really hot woman to wiggle a big(4cm) needle around inside my nipple. The more pain, the more I laughed. I can only remember two "painful" things that have happened to me physically.

One is an ongoing thing that will never go away in my lifetime. I strained my sciatic nerve somehow a few years ago. If you're not familiar with this nerve, it's the longest running nerve in the human body, it runs from the spine all the way down to the foot and it spans out a bit too. When it first happened, I was pretty much down for a week, of course at the time I didn't know what it was. It sort of ... went away and I went on about my business. Last summer, (on July 4th of all things) it started hurting again, worse than when it initially happened.
It isn't the most painful thing, it's just a constant thing which is worse when you move and the only way to make it stop ... is to move. It's a nerve and needs to be stretched and some crap. It's really bad sometimes, because I have classes and I'll be sitting for 2 to 4 hours or something and it just starts going at it. The longer I let it go the more of the nerve begins to hurt, starting from my back down. It really blows.
The only way to prevent it from happening is to stretch regularly which is a pain in the ass ... though if I don't do it I'll get a pain in the ass anyway.

The other thing was with my right knee. I put pressure on it incorrectly somehow and the part of my leg above my knee decided to go right ... and the part of my leg below my knee decided to go left, the bulk of the knee it self went right. It didn't break the skin or break the bone, but it did come out of the socket and then pop back in ... it was odd. It was a very delayed sort of thing. I mean, I looked down (I was wearing shorts at the time) and I could see the bone of my lower knee socket pushing against the skin and then it cracked and popped and went back and then it hurt ... a lot. Maybe not as much as putting a nail through my hand or falling off a building ... but we can't all injure ourselves and live like some people.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Well at least if you shot yourself in the foot, it would take away your, original pain. But then you'd have to shoot yourself in the head to get rif of the foot pain and nobody wants that  . That was not sarcasm. Let us now discuss Gorbachev's pain. It sounds pretty bad man. Never heard of that sickness before. Tell us more about your pain. I have dial up and when youre downloading, things get messy, real messy. So I aint even thinkng about opening wi-ki peidia.

I've also had a look at rotten.com. For anyone with time on there hands and wanna see some weird stuff you should go there. I saw one guy sticking his finger through his nose and out through his right eye. Yukkk.

edit: While I was typeing this message, Crono-miner just replyed. So...

Well look Crono, The second one is just funny. Ha Ha (Nelson Voice). However the first one is bad and painful. What happens when you sleep and you have been inactive for like 8 hours. Do you have to wake up in the middle of the night and, dance?

I almost forgot. I had Salmonella once. I s**t, or tried to s**t for 10 straight days because of that little adventure.

Do you have any idea how painful the dry heaves feels when its your bowels?

I found myself forcing food/drink down my throat just to have some substance to pass.

As Doctor Smith would say....

"The pain, the pain."

The best things in life, aren't things.

Ah yes chronic bowel problems is up there too. I had an 8 day run of
the s**ts and vomiting last year. When I wasn't on the toilet I was
lying on my bed or next to the toilet, exhausted. Bloody awful.

Never did find out what caused it either.

I have been given the body of an old man at an early age thanks to wonderful genetics, my knees hurt when a high pressure front comes in and my back hurts when i serve (tennis) or sit down for long periods of time. Other than the physical pain I get from all of this, the thought that I might be stuck in a wheelchair like my grandfather and not be physically active is a hard thought to consider. I'm going to go for other, or maybe you should just add psychological to the list

I'd say my swollen appendix that according to the doctors was in an unusually late state and a few hours before bursting and potentially killing me.

But a few days ago I had this surreal pain I woke up from in the middle of the night. I was lying on my right arm, blocking the blood or something and had this numbness in my arm. So I turned around, hoping I could feel my arm again in a few seconds. But then, instead, this intense pain, like a cramp, came up. A mixture between paralysis and a cramp mixed with some bizzarre nightmare I woke up from.

I think that's what phantom pain must feel like. You know, when people feel a pain in a limb that was actually amputated long time ago. Not nice.
Why snark works.

I live in South Africa, no naterally Ive had many pains.
Worst pain would be getting shot. Yes, getting shot with a real gun. Here in SA we have lots of hijackings and shootings, and during a hijacking one of the hijackers panicked and shot me in my lung. Luckily we still had our cellphones and I got to the hospital very quickly without dying. Being shot is like being stabbed with a sharp knife which has been heated up in a fire to its glowing white. And in the lungs makes it difficult to breath. Still makes me flinch when I play a FPS and get shot...and hear the splutch.

Also I once split my heel open on a rusty nail, and it actualy sprayed blood. Though the pain went away quite soon. The real pain was when the doctor was removing the bandages which had stuck onto the blood of the wound.

The worst pain iv'e ever seen was during Cricket at school, a guy bowled, the batter hit the ball very hard, and it hit the victim at the bottom of his chin, and caused him to "bite" his tongue, most of his tounge was chopped off.

When I was younger I was on a medication that had the unfortunate side effect of occasionally giving me cluster headaches. Those were by far the worst pain I've ever felt, nothing else is in the same league.

On to my other three (that I can think of).

1) Due to genetics, the nerves in/around my mouth are cover quite a bit of surface area. One particular injection of anesthesia into the front roof of my mouth before getting some work done on one of my front teeth was particularly painful, I could actually feel the needle of the syringe pulling one of the nerves taut.

2) Last summer, I was an assistant counselor at a summer camp. One of my duties was to fill up water balloons with the other assistant counselors. One of whom brought a big slingshot that shoots water balloons. After watching some jackass episodes on another AC's video iPod, I got the brilliant idea to have the other AC's fire a water balloon at my chest. I was less than ten yards from the slingshot, and they were prepared to fire when I started thinking clearly. I didn't step down from the challenge, but I suddenly started feeling for my testicles, as the aim of the launcher was suspect. I quickly told the launcher to take his time. As you can probably guess, he didn't hit me in the chest, but lucky for my future children, he didn't hit me in the tenderest of areas. I did get hit in the stomach, though, and it knocked the wind right out of me. After going down to my knees, and cringing for a while, I got up and started showing off the red mark that was a good half square foot. There was a smaller (but still pretty big) bruise that lasted for a few weeks after the incident. Low Res Pic.

3) Until it rotted, my family used to have a tree house. That tree house had a zip line to provide fast access to the ground. Once when I was 10 or so, I took it upon myself to find out what it would feel like if I put my finger in between the rope of the zip line and the pulley that was hanging from that we rode down. So I did. The friction stripped the skin off my right index finger, exposing the gooey contents underneath. I didn't get down farther then the lower epidermis, but it hurt like something funny that hurts a lot. I spent the next two days with my hand in a container of lukewarm water, trying to keep it as stretched out as possible so it would heal properly.

Orpheus,

I read your first post and thank god I get to see my grandkids all the time after my dau's divorce. It has to be tough and I hope you get to see them soon.

My worst pain...which first... I guess my kidney stone would it I had it for 4 months before i passed it.

Second would be my crushed elbow which I had 2 surgeries to repair.

More than that though IMHO the pain of a loved one dying is the greatest pain anyone can suffer.

This aint a pain but its a weird thing that happenes. Sometimes when I sleep, I sleep on my arm. While I'm asleep, my circulation gets cut off in say my right arm. I than wake up and go to move my right arm, but I can't. I can't moveit, feel it its weird. I picked it up with my working arm and dropped it and it just, slummped down. It was loose, like there was no bone. I could of cut the arm of and not feel it. But the circulation comes back and it becomes moveable again.

But wait, hold the phones. Flynn. Woa. If I knew how to do that quoteing thing I would do it right now. But I don't. So moving on. Geez, It could get worse. It could be like "Whats the weirdest breakfest you've had in your life" or " Do you hate work? " or "What do you like better. Sports or Tv" They are all stupid. And dumb. However the most stupidest topic would be " Halo Sucks" or "101 things that makes HL2 own Halo". Ahhh the stupidyity. Now back to busness.

You forgot to do something. Something Very Crazy. You did not state a pain. Every one has either discussed a pain or entered a pain. And remember the most voted for pain will win a prize from me. More on that later. Just when you think this topic is dead, I will resserect it and It would be like good old times.

P.S All your pains are funny.

Well, to somewhat expand on my illness with mono it effects you for a basically random amount of time afterwards depending on the person. It causes and caused great fatigue for me for a few weeks/months leading up to the week that I was truly ill and in some ways it still persists as I can't always move that extra step that I used to in sports. Plus it was hard to get back into hockey because the illness can cause your spleen to swell and during contact sports it could rupture and potentially kill you.

So I wasn't allowed to even step on the ice for months after...that was extremely hard to deal with as that was the age where I really wanted to push hard to go up in leagues and push for junior and greater. That in itself is sort of a pain I guess.

Other sports related pains I endured were dislocating/fracturing my wrist in rugby and pretty well still playing within a few days afterwards as well as playing hockey, too.

Throwing a body-check in hockey once I hit a nerve in my shoulder and my entire arm fell asleep, I was pretty scared but luckily it slowly started having feeling again after about 15-20s. I've been lucky to not have been concussed or anything like that, but I have been on the giving end of a few brutal hits (nothing cheap but they unfortunately were unlucky).

There are also other things I've done when I was really young that I don't actually remember though, like stepping on a nail and it going through my shoe and foot when I was in Kindergarten, swallowing a penny and having it stick in my airway when I was 2 as well as falling and landing on my lower rib on some plastic toy when I was also 2 and altering how my rib grew as I got older so it now has a funky bend in it.

I recently remembered something that tops my list: Getting a bunch of dirt (grit, crushed leaves and twigs, not dust) blown into my left eye when I was about 9. I had to get it washed out over the course of a few hours, while I was wide awake and screaming, and had to wear an eye patch for two weeks. I thought I was gonna be blind in that eye, but it healed up fine. That is, however, the eye that has astigmatism and much worse vision overall, something like 20/110 compared to 20/60 in the right eye, that may or may not be related, but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference either way since that's just how it is.

To this day I can't stand getting eyedrops, my whole body jumps/starts/convulses involuntarily, last time I got my eyes checked I startled the poor nurse and she fell off her stool.

Here's a less intense pain, but a funny one.
Today I learned just how sharp a rabbit's toenails can become. I made the mistake of letting my sister's rabbit climb on me while I wasn't wearing a shirt. He jumped off and left three red lines on my stomach. One of which was actually bleeding for a little while.

I would lay my vengeance upon him, but he's just so darn cute!
