Yeah, i know. That's one thing that ticks me off and just sucks so bad. In germany, they have stopped using the "Scharfe S" or b and they have changed it to a "ss" in spelling words. likewise in other countries there has been a push to get rid of ? ? ? [size=13]and in some former soviet countries, they have switched from thier original Cyrillic alphabet to the Latin alphabet. They do this all to make it more "commerce friendly with other countries" but we all know they do it to make it more "america friendly." Trust me guys, americans are dummies who don't even finish high school. we're going down soon and you don't want to strip yourselves of your identities for our sake. keep the umlauts, keep the essets keep that kooky little O with a line through it (norway) and the a with a circle over it (swedes). It pisses me off that they are taking away what makes them... them.

What ticks me off is that there are people out there that spout things
like "you must have hundreds of people in order to make a good
game." That is a lie. You can make a great game with as
little as twelve. Now when only one person makes a game, it does
tend to suffer, only because you don't have a "council" of game
developers voting and what seems good and bad and to help create design
shortcuts.

And just now, I saw a commercial for Collins Collage that said the same
thing, "you must have hundreds of people to make a game." My
anger increases with every commercial.

Well, to create a commercially viable game, particularly for next gen systems, you DO need sizeable teams. Hundreds is still a bit of an exaggeration (not that games DON'T use such sized teams, but most are still under 100 people), but 12 is very few for a commercial game. You CAN make a good game on your own, or with a team of 4, or whatever. But if you want to make a game with next-gen quality graphics, presentation, sound effects, music, and the like, you are gonna have to have a significantly sized team.

Also, designing games by council is generally regarded as a bad idea - the vision becomes less coherent and more diluted. Obviously you want the others on the team to have input on the project, but the decisions shouldn't come down to votes - it should be the lead designer's decision that is final. Unless the lead designer is an idiot

What I was refering to as "council" was the idea that the developers
share their ideas and end up creating a game that is more than what the
origanal creator imagined. For instance, they have brainstorming
sessions in which they go about determining the best way to pull off a
scene or figure out which weapons would be the best suited for the
style of game. One or two people would have to rely on the
criticism of others who may not know what the engine is capable of or
what the whole point of the game is. Not to mention spend possibly several years on it. Behind every game, there is
that group of people who esentually are the game, because in truth its
majority rule, with the origanal creator inspiring the most
influence. I'm just saying, I'm tired of people not doing any
research before they start pushing wring accusations. There are
so many game dev forums out there with people looking for a little help
with making their first game, when all of a sudden, people start
blowing them off with "you have to have over a hundred people on a team
to create a game." Look at some of the stuff universities pull
off with award winning indie games.

I should have metioned this first, this was a remark toward indie and
commercial in generl. I know that comercial games use a large
team while indie games tend to use anywhere from 12 to 25.
New thing to add to the list, I hate it when I'm too vague with my
thread topics and the thread inadvertantly slowly evolves into an illeagal blocked thead. If only
I could turn back time, I really wanted to see those poll results. Oh well, damage done.
You know, I've actually got nothing to say

So in other words: "Americans?" $loth? They sue schools because thier kids are fat and get hit by the ball when we play dodgeball in american gym class. They don't reason out that thier kids are fat because they have banned physical activity in gym class and they have the TV babysit thier kids. They sue everyone to get easy money for stupid reasons and they never give back until they themselves are sued for a stupid reason.

I love being who i am and where I am, but gosh darn it, I'm REALLY starting to get ticked off at my fellow americans.

Well, american public schools cannot play dodgeball anymore because a bunch of fat kids "were getting hit by the ball." Their parents sued the schools and now they can't play it. They said it was "too competitive."

P.E. itself has not been banned, but since fat people are not pushing to be counted as "disabled" i think the future looks bleak for a class that DEFINITELY does not cater to the fatties.

IMHO, half the fun of dodgeball when I was in school was to hit the fat guy.

PS. the saying is "If the shoe fits, wear it."

Well, I work for a public school district in the bible belt. I have not heard anything about the banning of phys ed itself, but I know even here, we don't play "good ol' fashioned dodgeball." Since we're such a conservative area, we're about the last to change "traditional" things like this.

I think that some time in the next 10 years, there will be enough behind the people who want obesity to be a disability that ti will be passed and fat kids won't have to participate because they will be "disabled" or "handicapable."

Haha! Thanks for that, I almost spurted water all over my screen!

I think they should up the shock value of being fat, show people what
can happen if they are overweight, how they will live and how they will
die.

If I think about it there weren't that many fat people down here, and
most of the people I know who were fat have lost weight, like my
brother all he did was change his diet and he lost 4 stone

Whereas in England, obesity is just starting to become a problem, in America it is a big uncontrollable problem. 67% of males in the USA are obese. Can you BELIEVE that crap?! gosh dang it! I just went and looked it up, and frankly, I'm appalled. I guess more than two-thirds of the US male population is "disabled" eh?

I have a real problem believing the stats they come up with for that. When I was in high school, there was one obese person in my year. Just one, out of hundreds of people, and I'm being serious. Others were a bit chunky, but not obese. Now I hear all these stats like "a third of school children are obese". Really now? So where the hell are you hiding them all? I barely see any fat kids, but apparently they are taking over the country. WHERE ARE THEY?

I'm not sure about this but I feel like the medical definition they use for obese isn't really that tight. Someone we would call fat would probably fall under the definition of obese, hense pumping that stat.

My highschool of 850 kids only had about 2 or 3 people who could be considered obese.

I used to lifeguard at a private club in Greenwich, Connecticut and there were quite a few middle aged men who were legitimately ripped. I feel like if you're rich you have more time to really work on getting a Men's Health cover-type body, although that could be completely wrong.

I tihnk the definition of obese is if your BMI (body mass index) is over 30.

You can calculate your BMI here! http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/calc-bmi.htm

BMI measures your mass, hence body mass index. You can be super-ripped and be obese, though, just 'cause your weight's above the "average." I'm like 30 pounds underweight... people say I look 160 and look shocked when I say 130 even though they call me skinny the whole time. Makes no sense but you know kids these days, always with their tomfooleries... r-right CJ?

There was this female where I worked once. The topic switched to over-weight one day. She Merrily exclaimed that she was only 30%.

We all looked at her and you could read our expressions. They ranged from confusion to sageliness. Most of us admitted later thinking.. "30% of what? An Elephant?"

Anyway.. I weigh in at 200 lbs. I am 5' 9 1/2"

Most who see me now, think that I am preoccupied with my weight because to them, I do not appear to be that overweight.. Those who knew me at my average lifetime weight of 150 lbs. think I am huge.

My 200lbs. is spread over a wide area (no pun intended) so my extra 50 lbs. goes relatively unnoticed.

I think.. I am a fat whale.

DINOSAURS. THEY ARE SUCH ATTENTION WHORES. THEY'RE ALL, "OH, LOOK, WE'RE EXTINCT, TALK ABOUT US, TALK ABOUT US, TALK ABOUT US!". WHY, IF ONE OF THEM CAME TO MY HOUSE, I'D PROBABLY PUNCH THEM IN THEIR PREHISTORIC FACE. THEN I'D BE ALL "WHY YOU CRYING T-REX, HUH?"

people say I look 160 and look shocked when I say 130 even though they call me skinny the whole time.
I go through the EXACT same thing, except I weigh a little bit more.

Do you have any idea how depressing that is? :heee:

You don't know how hard it is to make jokes around here... No one has a sense of humor. Well, except Crono. He says that I keep him in stitches.
