some pics i took yesterday. the blue bird is a heron, which are pretty uncommon in the middle of cities, as are the cormorants.

it's rare enough to see any of these birds, nevermind finding them all perched together on the same wall. well, not wall exactly. it's an old bridge support that's had the arches/span demolished, and sits alone in the middle of the river.

then this morning, i found the view from my bedroom window had changed slightly. it made me wonder if the birds had sensed it coming, and decided the city offered them some sort of protection.

Very prophetic Fisheye. We have a similar bird scattered throughout the States. White and Brown if I recall. The Snow is definitely surprising.

Now my turn. I took these pictures on my last run. If they are blurry to much I can upload the full versions which are 3.2 MP in scope.

The deer are from a town called: Hondo, New Mexico

The cave house is also from Hondo.

The missle is of course from: White Sands, New Mexico

Hope these images fit, I shrunk them as small as I dare.

I know its not but, that last picture really is amazing. It looks like its under water. The angle and tint of the light makes one think you are looking in a clear aquarium.

Nice pics Obie.

Tracer, that looks like a very beautiful place. I'll have to visit that forrest sometime.

s**t, I wish I had time to do that now. Just take a drive 40 minutes in a single direction, get out and check stuff out. I really wish I had time to do stuff like that.

Unfortunatly it's more like 3 hours from portland I think, but yes, it's really cool. It's too cold and snowbound at the moment, but if you get in far enough the Olympic mountains are really cool as well.

While I'm at it... Here's a recent shot from Paradise on Mt. Rainer:

It's not too far though.

In times of old... Last year. I was in a quandary about how to capture screens from a movie. Well PowerDVD seems to have heard and rendered an acceptable method. Their screen captures are easy. All I need do is apply a bit of XAT to them and they are good to go for Snarkpit posting.

Just in case some of you may want to build a bit of Hogwarts from the newest movie here are 6 for you. I have noticed that Hogwarts has grown with the children over the past 4 years. The shots are noticeably different.

Anyway, enjoy these shots.

Vermont May not be as rugged as the northwest, but the lighting in that picture is particularly cool! I grew up in New England, so It's kind of nice to see a view form back there.

I was watching your pic arrive thinking "That looks like the Heron we used to see in Florida"

Then after the pic loads I notice your postscript.

What, "not too far?" I'm almost that "close" to home in Wisconsin! That's at least a 7 hour drive from where I grew up... about an hour, maybe 2 from where my wife grew up.

Still, neat formation. Won't be around all that much longer - it's already a pale shadow of what it was and it'll just keep eroding... Lots of cool terrain out there; the roads overlooking Lake McCaughoweveryouspellit would really be something if said lake even existed anymore... you can see the town underneath it poking up from the surface now :X

I wish I had taken this picture my self, but it was my friend Klara who snapped this photo. She was camping out on the Great Wall and took the photo at 4:30 AM before setting out to hike the rest of the section she was on.

I think this is the greatest image that's been taken on this trip so far.

I like the first one, but the way the guy is sitting in the second one strikes me as strange. It could be that I just don't feel it "fits" with the rest of the image.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the first image looks natural while the second looks contrived.

The picture of the river is my favorite of this batch of pics.

I have two really great pics of a Bald Eagles nest. Sadly, the eagle that I saw land in it, is barely discernible, so I opted to not post it.

I also took some good shots in the Rockies. They are from above an old choo-choo train track... Yes its a choo-choo... Its used for tours in the gold mining region of I-70

This last batch is particularly nice. I like how I can get a feel for the vastness and beauty of both states.

I took these pictures on my last run to Colorado. They had a pretty nasty snowstorm.. Most heard it on the news last week. Shut Denver down. Anywho, these are some pics of Winter Park Colorado (50 miles west of Denver on I-70) at or about 11,000 feet.

As usual, I have the originals @ 2580x1932 and 1.1 megs. (3.2 megapixel) available on request.

Some pictures I took on the run to California.

The blue ship is the cargo carrier that the busses will be on for the trip to Hawaii.

Where exactly in California were you? San Diego?
Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch
