Okay here is my synopsis:
Graphics: Its the source engine, no biggie, I mean weve seen it in HL2,
in fact some of the levels look remarkibly similar (Like that trash you
see in the corner, is the same trash youve seen in HL2 aka: same decal).
Characters: Since its the source engine you get to really fall in love
with the characters, well not in a literal sense, but you can
appreciate the time taken to animate/voice act on the characters.
Difficulty: This is where the game fails in some places... Dont get me
wrong I love a challenge, but there are times when you get sick of
playing the same firefight for the 50th time. Their diffuculty raises
really fast when you get to the guys with mini-guns, I mean I really
dont know how else to defeat them witht he limited arsanal I have on
me. And when the level is "linear" its hard to approach the same fire
fight from a different angle.
Gameplay: The pistol has such a low rate of fire it wil piss you off.
What im tryign to say here is that this isnt a typical game where you
can run into a situation guns balzing and be able to kill everyone in
one pass (unlike you can in HL2). This is fine when you can appraoch a
combat situation from different angles (Stealth, Rambo, Sniper - SRS as
I like to call it), however the level design/AI doesn't support this
too well. Its very linear and you can get to these "choke" points where
you have only one choice from SRS.
All in all this game has soem serious potential if they fix some of the
combat issues, but as it stands, its just another linear choke point
Doom 3. But if your looking for a nice game that has challenges and
looks decent, and have 20$ to burn, then id recomend playing this game.
