Orpheus said:Okay, I know what you're saying, but whether it's intentional or not, disrespect still doesn't need to be there. And yeah, all generations end up doing the same things such as "rebelling against some sort of authority (hippies/emo kids)" and "Growing older while simultaneously changing their veiwpoints." But our world IS drastically different than yours. Many kids know more now than your generation could have possible hoped for at that age. We have so many ways of making things faster and getting information. We have millions of online encyclopedias and other informational sites on the internet. Hell, the internet itself in its basest form trumps the black-and-white TV you had when YOU were a kid. Fact is, young people now are logging on to all the information in the world made available through thier computer, They are doing this at the same age you were watching "Howdy-Doody."
Same holds true with adults. Its not really that we intentionally mean to be disrespectful of youth, but more so that we have already been there type of viewpoint. In other words, unless you have done something DRASTICALLY different, you are pretty much going to do the same things we have.

Just let it go, you're 17 and you have no idea how anything works. When you are 21.5 years old like me, you will see the world in a different light and you will come crawling back to me apologizing for being such a sucky n00b at life.
if i understand orph correctly he is not trying to tell nickel that he will agree with his ideas, but will finally realize that orph is not always trying to tell him he's wrong or one-up him, only showing him another way to look at things
but i do agree that nickels arguements tend to hold no relevance at times and lack substance, im sure mine do at times as well, but sometimes you have to let go of the s**tty weightless ones
Perhaps, but I abhor ignorance that can be changed.
I have more in common with him, than you will ever have with anyone here because you always try to change people. Be it their minds or their views.

Your point Wilson?
Your quote supports what I said, was that your intention? If so, why bother bringing it to the fore?

Apart from that, I agree with parts of your argument.

Its easy to be right when you blast static in all directions.
Fatstrings, it was never about you. Beleive it or not, not everything IS about you. (BTW, you're being trax0red)you're going about this the wrong way, that is what everyone is trying to tell you man
I was not making myself look like a jackass, I was showing how stupid it sounds to say that you could not possible have anything VALID in your brain just because you are younger than someone else. Of course it's not true, but that is the point i was making. You're just too angsty sometimes. You've got to stop hanging out with Joe, or you'll turn Emo-kid on us.
no no no! maybe this is all a misunderstanding, let me try to make myself clear.DrGlass said:Is that genuinely how you see things here?

I had hoped differently. I seldom see things with perfect clarity,
this just happens to be one of those rare times. Every point I made
during this whole thread is crystal clear. The only hazy portions was
Nickels additions. What struck me as funny though was, in his weird
way, he was confirming exactly what I was saying.
Someday your tuner will pick up more than static.
/nuff said.
lemme make my statement clear:
Opinions are things you beleive to be absolutely true. If you present them in any other way than with conviction, I believe that you are selling yourself short. In some ways, to use your wording, you're selling yourself short here ... that or not giving others in this community enough credit. There is already an established persona of "Nickelplate". We know plenty about your hobbies and how you act. You work with computers at a school, build cars in your free time and are a very faithful religious practitioner.
I never like to flame anyone. It's just really hard to present things as I see them when all I ever get is flak for them. Many times the flak i get is just flaming under the guise of "sarcastic maturity." It's always hard to take the high road I beleive in while I'm getting bullcrap from all sides.
I know I beleive in lots of things that not many people beleive in anymore. But I'm really getting the feeling that despite our "all opinions are equal" additude here, I'm not getting a fair chance.
And finally, I don't think I've been any more immature than anyone else. and it's hard not to sound like a know-it-all or whatever when I really DO know a LOT of stuff about a LOT of stuff. Just because the average american my age is sitting around smoking pot and "studying" english literature (which means playing nintendo in the dorms), doesn't mean that we are all like that.
Nickelplate said:See, that's where i disagree. You can firmly believe in things, and share those beliefs, but that doesnt mean you do yourself wrong if you don't sell those beliefs as absolute truths.

Crono has valid points about me BUT, apparently un-noticed to himself his words have matured a bit during the past year or so. His replies are more thought out so here again, my "Pet theory" about age is proving itself. Less than a year ago, he never would have gotten anyones attention because of his.... Whats the word I am seeking? .... Youthful vigor?Don't fool yourself into thinking I've some how matured because of this site. The only thing I'm doing differently now than when I first joined is re-reading my posts and editing them before I submit.
I love that stuff. Raw or with 1/3 J?germeister 3/4 Battery mix, if I don't want to get drunk too fast. :wink:Pvt.Scythe said:Hellz, Yeah!
