The radar maps say it's snowing just a few miles north of Austin. I froze my ass off outside so I believe it. I don't recall ever needing the heater on in April before

For Nvidia you need two of the same model cards and a board with an SLI chipset and two PCI express 16x slots. For ATI you need a regular card and a 'Crossfire Edition' card of the same numbering, plus a crossfire chipset motherboard with two PCI express 16x slots.I think a new revision of SLI is in the works that allows you to use any SLI compatible card. The example I saw was something like two 7900's for graphics and a 6800 or 7600 or something for physics.

you can have 4 cards technically if you use a dual core card

Or eight since there are quad SLI boards. No driver support IIRC though.

Found out today that my grandson was misdiagnosed with ADD.

Yes, my grandson is on the road to drug addiction because his mom doesn't want to deal with him.

I wish that f**king Satchmo would get his sorry ass to Arkansas and see just how f**king easy it is here to have a child put on drugs just because.

This on top of a Judge ordering her to NOT do so. She just went back to another doctor until one would write the prescription.

I dunno which I am more pissed off at. My ex daughter-in-law, or Satchmo and his f**king know-it-all bulls**t.

You have no idea how helpless a grand parent feels when you have zero influence.

Didn't he basically say it's a real condition that's grossly misdiagnosed?

I can vouch for the grossly misdiagnosed part, since two different shrinks (read: drug dealers with PhDs) gave me an ADD diagnosis about a year apart, and both were ready to write a prescription, my folks didn't bite. One potentially harmful aspect of an errant ADD diagnosis is that it can delay or prevent the real problem from being identified, where the real problem could be something more serious like schizophrenia; a potentially dangerous effect is that some drugs used to treat ADD can trigger episodes of an existing condition. Brain chemistry is not something you want to f**k with.

I think the majority of 'ADD' kids could be cured if the parents turned off the idiot box and spent some time with them, reading to them, drawing with them, going to the park etc. "Parent Maturity Defecit Disorder" is more like it, IMHO.

Actually it was I who says its misdiagnosed.

His view was, not realistic to say the least. In fact, he said it was a mid-western problem. They don't misdiagnose in California.

I have no problem discussing this, especially if it makes him look like an asshole but I'd rather not do it in a recently thread.

The main reason I posted it here was that I had found out about 3 minutes before I posted and I was royally pissed off.

I am still mad, but not enough to ruin this thread.

Take it to a fresh thread, assuming you wanna run it through the mud again.

Do take it to a fresh thread because for once (take a photo!) I'm with Orpheus - his attitude toward ADHD and discussing topics reasonably is high level assholish.

Satchmo only comes to this site to espouse either how great he is/how bad we are or to promote his wares.

Recently found: Gwil agreed with Orph and the sky isn't falling.

Also: There are quite a few ways to hold a pencil, and the basic grip most people use for writing is not suited at all for drawing.

Slightly more recently than that: The site I learned that from is a 'furry' drawing site. :x

We disagree a lot, but its hardly note worthy.

In fact, considering our backgrounds, our ages and our countries of origin its surprising that we agree as often as we do.

IMO though, in spite of the differences, we still managed to be friends. THATS noteworthy.

I've learned, over time, that Satchmo's words need to be taken with a grain of salt, not because he's wrong (or right) or anything like that. It's just, he's an adamant person. He talks very matter of fact-ly and has some very odd habits of what he sees as "post-worthy". If you ever get in a "heated" discussion with him, keep in mind that the heat is probably all on your side of the conversation. Also keep in mind that his primary language was Chinese, a very "to the point" "one way to say it" language, which could be another reason for the way he speaks.

I agree that he can seem to be a dick about certain things, but I don't think he does it on purpose. And it would most certainly be inappropriate to say s**t out of nowhere, even if it were a previous transgression.

I don't even know what he said about ADHD. But something I've noticed about his view on medicine, especially children and medicine, is very matter of fact and one way or no way. I think it's just because of where he practices. I mean, most things are not even remotely similar to the rest of the world in California. I don't see why Medical practices would either.

Also, don't jump on my sack because I'm putting up for him.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I recently found one of these.

My previous players had an average battery life of 7-11 hours for 2AA. This player has been using the same batteries (2AA) for 26 hours and still seems fully charged. Even if this isn't the case, the marked increase in battery usage is phenomenal.

Regular stock panasonic batteries.

The reason for my comment was the fact that the batteries went from 7 hours to many times more. The batteries finally conked out at 43 or so hours.

Thats one hell of an increase with the same exact batteries. Note: these batteries are just about two years old, and have been recharged..... many, many, many (add lots more many's) times.

I just got through playing it; there is definitely plenty of custom content to make the game more interesting than it actually is, which isn't a bad thing. The cinematics are fun to watch, and I always like the psychedelic sequences. Some spots in it were quite troublesome with lots of boring fights with the Combine, but the different environments made up for that. It seemed like it was mapped out very well, and the story was somewhat strait-forward. But it was a good little sp mod to play that I definitely recommend as well. Thanks for posting it Reap.

This will interest some people, I'm sure.

The next installment of Splinter Cell, Conviction, has dynamic lighting with inter-object reflections. So it's got more of a global illumination solution going on, which is pretty awesome. (to note, they call the lighting of inter-objects "bounce" lighting) Go check it out.

And while you're at it, you may want to check out the screens and videos for StarCraft II which were released on Saturday.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I'm downloading Awakening right now, and once I've posted this, I'll look up screens for SC II, and SC V.
Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch

I guess I'm the only one who gets excited about words like this, but thanks, Crono
