Go ahead Cass. if you go to the NASA web site you can get really high resolution .tiff images.

I think all of the pictures were taken in sequence and then pieced together which might explain the line...

/edit good grief Doc! you remember the moon landings? that makes you as old as my parents!

I could care less about world hunger. Mars is cool! besides, if you want to look at humanities problems long-term, I think the fact that the sun will engulf our planet in five billion years a much more important issue, heck, we may not even have that long, as the solar output will steadily increase untill that point is reached, reducing our nice wet planet to a bone-dry rock within the next 1 billion years.

even I'm not sure whether this is sarcasam or not.

Who wants to make a mars map with me? It'll be the best ever, actually I'll probably make a mod out of it. How does MarsMod sound? There'll have to be crates everywhere though. I don't run VIS but if I did then the crates would reduce lag!

And Lep, you sure you want the answer to that?

Yes it is entierly real. go to www.nasa.gov to find out more.

it might indeed make an interesting mod A_S. you'd have to set the gravity to 1/3 of normal and include periodic dust storms that completly obliterate your vision.

I with ya Gwil, I saw that documentry too, and it was so clear that America didn't land on the moon. For one thing the evidance is overwhelimg, and anyway they only did it so that the Russians wouldn't get there first. On a lighter note, does anyone remeber that Simpsons episode where Lisa and classmates are watching a projector film thing and the commentator say "The moon belongs to America" thats just seemed to encaptulate the American attitude towards the moon landing at the time.

And I bet that Spirit landed on Beagle 2 and crushed it!!!

Mine was slightly tongue in cheek Brass, although I don't believe the moon landings were real - can't be arsed to debate/dont want to debate that point anyhow, it's been done before

I thought Beagle was a european project as well, led by the brits? either way, we should think about spending our money on education and crime policy, not space exploration...

Yeah, there was a rumour Stanley Kubrick was hired to film the whole thing ...

I don't believe it ... scientists have been able to take pictures of the American Flag planted on the moon, using giant telescopes, I think.

i knew it was tongue in cheek bud...truly. and i really dont want to debate something like that, especially with someone i truly respect...but i must admit i am surprised that you think it was all a hoax....think of the time frame when it first was raised as an issue...Watergate was in full swing, the corruption of the then US administration, which is well documented btw... ...Vietnam tearing this country apart, all the things in the world that wre dear to me were being turned on their collective ears....and the space landings were the one thing that brought this country together, if just for a little while....a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise spectacularly f**ked up time period.....if it turns out someday that you are right and it was a vast conspiracy, then sir, i will apologize to you profusely, and fly anywhere in the world to buy you a beer, and kiss yer spotty fat ass... damn i hope yer wrong....yuk!

as for this point:

I thought Beagle was a european project as well, led by the brits? either way, we should think about spending our money on education and crime policy, not space exploration...

i truly think we can do both....but yer right, its a matter of priority, which is not too high on some f**kers list these days, no names mentioned....
