Delete the lights.rad, and rename valve.rad to lights.rad this is used to enable the text lights to give off light.

cough, no Omega. You delete "Valve.rad" and leave the original "lights.rad".

You know this whole deleting thing was wrong it didnt answer the question originally, what you do to edit the light vales, is either download a program and chang it yourself (dont remember where I got it though) or change the ending from .rad to .txt, this will change it to a text file with six light values (dont know how they work) and you change those values, then make sure you rename from .txt back to .rad

you open lights.rad in note pad and copy wateva is in there [me thinks it is a white texture] then paste it in the valve.rad, then delete the lights.rad and re-name valve.rad to lights.rad

Double click on your .rad file. Windows will now say, "Hey, I dunno what this is, whaddya want to open it with?" Then it will give you a list of all crazy sorts of programs you have on your computer. Scroll down to notepad (or textpad if you have it) and click on that one. If there's an "always associate this type of file with this program" box, click it. If for some reason .rad files are associated with another program, you can still open them in notepad by right-clicking on the file, choosing "Open with..." and then selecting notepad.

Just make your own rad file: mapname.rad in the same folder as the mapname.map! it's easy, and you don't need to worry about what the settings are between maps.
