Important Portal update

Have fun.

Reality has become a commodity.

I did some research, and many people think it has something to do with the next valve game. (Portal 2, Episode 3, L4D3...)

http://kotaku.com/5484157/valves-portal-puzzle-so-far-the-files-recovered-from-aperture-science

In a nutshell: first you go in game, and you can receive morose code which you can translate. Among some of those sounds you can get an slow-scan-television pictures from those wave files. From there those images give you a code in them which you piece together:

9459C6CAC8C203B8128B7CC63068D4FD

Which is an encoded telephone number. Get your ol' 56k modem out and dial in. The reply you get is ascii art of the new portal 2 images. Just scroll to the bottom for them.

Props to valve for creating an elaborate viral ad campaign.

Their was a new update today.

Reality has become a commodity.

They changed the ending:

Ooh, I'm so excited! They were speculating before that the next iteration was going to be a prequel because of the voice acting job, but now with this, I'm guessing it's gonna be a sequel.

I understand now why the update is labeled "valuable asset retrieval"

Where is my Important Ep3 Update?!

Where is the update for CSS. But this looks cool, can hardly wait to see what they do.

I think I'll fail if I try to solve the puzzle myself. Maybe the HL2ep3 progress report is hidden in the puzzle or something. If it is hidden in the puzzle, I wouldn't be surprised of Valve's quietness...

Cool! I'm so excited for Portal 2! This gives me a bit more confidence that Valve will show something at this year's E3.

E3 is chump change. Its all about the GDC now. Which is in 3 days! If you look too, it mentions something about march 11th, which is also the day Gabe N will be receiving an award at the GDC10 for pioneering games.

Portal 2 has been announced!

explodes of excitement

I made a little travel in the portal content with GCFScape. I have found 28 *wav files with the name dinosaur. Five of them were a Morse code. The massage was:

dinosaur1.wav :
INTERIOR TRANSMISSION ACTIVE
EXTERNAL DATA LINE ACTIVE
MESSAGE DIGEST ACTIVE
dinosaur5.wav :
9E107D9D372BB6826BD81D3542A419D6
dinosaur12.wav :
SYSTEM DATA DUMP ACTIVE
USER BACKUP ACTIVE PASSWORD
BACKUP ACTIVE
dinosaur17.wav :
BIIP BIIIIP BIIP BIIP (L)
BIIIIP BIIIIP BIIIIP (O)
BIIP BIIIIP BIIP BIIP (L)

Nice, isn't it?

Ooops! The kotaku guys have done it by themselves. I didn't read the text the first time.

I've thought for quite a while now that Portal 2 will actually be incorporated into Episode 3, that Portal 1 was just like... the Hazard Course in Half-Life. It was a preparation inside testing chambers, and that Portal 2 will be happening in the real world. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see a Portal Hand Held Device on board the Borealis.

Either way, I can't wait for anything new from Valve.

Little insider info from my connections at DigiPen:

Valve hired another team from DigiPen (the guys who did Tag: The Power of Paint). I'm pretty sure they worked on Portal 2, because one of the new gameplay mechanics is being able to paint your environment, with the different colors having different abilities. Exactly the same as Tag.

Don't know exactly how portal + tag can be mixed together here, but this outa be cool.

Wow..even a screenshot?!? Really??

How reliable is this I wonder? And how come they have so much info already?

.. Oh it must have been all unveiled at the GDC.

Whoa nice.

Aaron's Stuff

I bought a game magazine yesterday, 'Game Informer' which had a 12-page article on Portal 2. Amazing stuff really. Contains lots of quotes and interviews from the developers, not to mention a generous collection of screenshots and diagrams. Hmm.. I'd post them up here, but I don't have a scanner. New characters, a co-op mode and interesting new gameplay elements are highlights.

If anyone is REALLY interested, I guess I COULD type up everything from there in here.... that is if anyone is REALLY interested.
