It does the same for map screenshots, so it would be nice if it auto refreshed I guess.

I'm not sure I get what you mean by that - ways in which to make your profile look different to other people's? I'm not sure that would be a wise thing to allow, I think standardisation is a good thing for the profiles.

I think it would be better if Lep made his own somehow  Its really not much bother actually going to the search page though...but perhaps it would be nice if the search page link was more obvious.

I don't think it would get used to be honest. And a spell checker would be a nightmare because there are so many words we use that wouldn't be in it, and would take ages to add, for example OMGLOLWTF!?!

How the feck am I meant to make a post spell checker?! I could make something that automatically corrects certain common spelling mistakes, but you know what, it's more fun to annoy the people who just can't be bothered to spell. (fair enough if you're dyslexic, but I thought reading is hard for them as well, and thus forums aren't really the best place to hang out..?)

hah. I personally like the way you can get outlook to automatically spell check and correct all your incoming email. I mean how sad do you have to be to enable that option?

I didn't actually mean the spell checker, I meant make your own search thing permanently on screen, since the current search page is a bit hidden away and not easily noticed.

Would it be better to give the number of guests in the 'who's online' thing by seeing how many seperate IP addresses loaded a page in the last say 10 minutes? Or something like that... not an important issue at all, just an idea

If you edit a post that had an auto-downsized image in it in non-java mode, "Some images in this post have been automatically down-sized, click on them to view the full sized versions:" gets added to the text of your post at the start, so if you don't realise and edit, it says that twice.

I think lep asked for site skins at some point, is that still going ahead? if so, which images would be changed?

Right; if people want to search ctrl+f or a quick glance or google site search will cure what ails you, and I can't think of a much better place to put the link! Jeff I have thought of doing an actual guest tracker, but rather with the usual cookie setting instead of unique IPs perhaps. And I think the 'some images have been automatically down-sized..' text thingy has been fixed from now on.
And Korn, themes can be done whenever, if you have any ideas for different images/colours then fire away

No, it's links in your signature being cut off that's causing it.

You could have a random map spotlight thingy somewhere on the front page. It would be wise to somehow restrict it to high scoring maps though.

I guess it could go beneath the forums bit on the sidebar of the front page...though to be honest I'm not sure its needed, what with the new maps bar, and the map of the moment / newest map part of the features page. Obviously thats not a very useful page of the site at the moment, but once reviews start up again (and presumably more things like interviews or other articles may follow) that page will be used more frequently.

I suggested that before Jon, a limit of 200k is more than reasonable.

On a map review, if you press the "Click here for more details and comments" option, it just takes you to the map listing, rather than the mode details and comments page of the respective map. I'm guessing this is just something you haven't finished up yet though, considering its next to the "write your own review of this map" option, which is definately not implemented.

I was just looking at the 'maps' section, and I hadn't realised before how many maps there are that never have a forum thread during the beta stage. I think it would be nice to make it more prominent somehow when a user either adds a new uncompleted map, or increases the progress, so that everyone gets a chance to make some comments in spite of the lack of a forum thread. It really did supprise me to see how many decent maps were in progress by users who obviously never use the forums.

I would like to be able to choose the width of the textbox for new post/thread in my preferences. At the moment, long URLs and image locations can make the textbox have a horizontal scrollbar, which is annoying IMO. Obviously the default width has to be kept down for the benifit of people with lower screen resolutions. I know this is easy to implement for the non-java posting mode, but perhaps it is harder for the java mode?

Pertaining to HL Editing Forum
Option for question poster/moderators - categorise question under appropriate section (and possibly subsection) - eg, you could use dropdown check boxes to have it "flagged" (an extra SQL field or somesuch) as entities/architecture/textures/... etc etc.
Then you have pre categorised questions, and also answers. Possibly something for when HL2 arrives, but basically focussing on a more efficient knowledge databasing system.

A while back you profile listed your tutorials, I think that was a nice thing to have and would like to see it back. Similarly, it would be nice to have peoples prefabs listed in their profile. I guess that could mean profiles get somewhat bloated, but perhaps they could be subsections (ie. view prefabs by this user, view tutorials by this user).

Yeah, the Java mode is a bit harder to, iframes and the like not working just right :/ But I've always intended to get a 'screen res' preference going, and maybe put some extra things in the top of the screen for people who can cope...
And Gwil, that would be a good idea, along with having 'keywords' maybe. Problem is, although it could be made to work well for a lot of people, there are 1000 n00bs without a brain for every one of those who'd just c**k it all up :/

Just another little colour problem in the classic theme - if a user can't be rated, the text that says this on the sidebar of their profile is black, which is the same colour as the background.

Bug to fix - when logged out and clicking on the ::Maps:: option at the page top, the browser pops up a dialog error window after 20 seconds or so - "Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page". It affects Moz and IE.
Suggestion - the "about:faq...search" bar at the page bottom is out of the way and easily missed. It needs to be more noticeable or incorporated into the "map editing:maps" menu at the page top. Will prolly be easier to nav the site if theres a single menu bar.
The New Maps section at the left side only displays 4 maps, its easy to miss new maps or if 4+ maps get posted at the same time. Maybe increase it or use another page with last 16 maps on.
/goes off to shoot Klaus
