Actually, when you're programming more difficult tasks a mouse slows you down ... it's easier to have seperate desktops or sessions running at the same time and using quick change commands to switch between them.
I perfer UNIX over Windows just because of the speed. This is purly because windows has a bunch of graphics to load (The later versions of Red Hat and SuSE are becoming the same way :\ )
Also, just because you personally don't like it doesn't mean its bad or disgusting.
The only different from Windows is that you have to know what you're doing. The only people who bash Unix are people who aren't fairly knowledgable of their surroundings ... which is fine ... but just to let you know, when Windows came out people bashed it to death as well.
You can't choose one definate side and say "this is correct". They have their individual uses and giving a general "it's crap" response is total bull s**t, for either side.

I hate Linux/Unix/whatever because it fosters uber-geeks who like to wax lyrical on one of the most boring subjects known to man, namely Linux/Unix/whatever  I also hate it because it gives the local tech-head an excuse to complain about distributing documents over mailing lists as .doc files and other Microsoft formats.
Everything should be in plain text!

God- not another damn "my OS is better than your OS" argument. All of your opinions sucks, just like mine. Get used to it
I'd put that in light blue to show that I'm being sarcastic, but I'm far too lazy to do that. So just assume it was, then strike this comment from your memory. Thanks.

The issue isn't Linux/Unix/whatever that they're arguing about. Most of the time, it's about software freedom. I agree - 'my OS is better than your OS' arguments are stupid wastes of your bandwidth. Just keep in mind that people who argue that Linux, or any other open system, is better than any other 'because it is' are not actually arguing the case of Linux, they're arguing the case of 'I'M RIGHT'.
Linux is a good operating system, because it promotes open standards and is great for tinkerers like me. Mac is a good operating system, because it is phenomenally easy to use, and lets newbies get into the whole 'computing' thing easily. Windows is a good operating system, because of the fact that there are so many application suites for it. But here's the thing.
You can make them all do the same thing.
You don't need Windows to run games. You don't need Linux to have a secure network box. You don't need a Mac to have a user friendly interface. Stop railing on OSes, and start railing on fanboy gits.

I don't understand your reaction to this, Lep. I'm not cramming Linux down your throat, I'm asking you to not jump to the conclusion that your opinions on OS choice determine the objective quality of other operating systems.
Heh, I like the idea of a flamebait colour, but didn't we already have sarcasm tags? Since when do we need to be told that a post is flamebait?

Did you read my post? I'm not trying to 'convert' anyone here. My point is that the issue that you seem to have with systems other than what you're familiar with is that the proponents of these alternate systems that you appear to have talked to are more keen on bullying frightened newbies into submission than on the relative merits of the operating systems. Go, use Windows, it's a great OS for games! I really couldn't care less! What I do care about, and this is what I was trying to say, is that you shouldn't blame a system for the people that try to push it at you. If you're doing that, you're putting all of the sane, regular people who like it and use it in with the psychotic idiot nerds from hell.
Ha! As if I'd try and change the mind of any of you here!

And my posts have only been to annoy you lot anyway, of course I know you can play such cutting edge games as ASCII Quake and... run game servers... and... there's probably a calculator, oh and the internet now. See, there's lots you can do with Lunix these days, they all have their strengths.

I'm not going to give you a big list of Things That You Can Do With Linux, Lep, nor a List Of Things That Unix/Linux Has Done For The World. A computer is a computer. If people are interested, they can find their own information on what you can do with different operating systems.
If you're trying to annoy me, it won't work

I know what you're trying to do, Lep. I'm not trying to push any Linux agenda, and I'm not going to start shouting 'yeah well Linux ownz j00 because yuo can liek run teh intrawebs!!!1'. Leave it alone, go run your system the way you want to.
Heh, right now you're being an example of one of the OS fanboys I was talking about. Stop proving my point by arguing against it this way

What the hell, Lep. Did Linux kill a close family member or something? I can understand not liking it/appreciating it, but wow, you seem like you won't give anything Linux-based half a chance, and any time it's mentioned you tear into it like a sweet, sweet piece of ham.
