Whenever I join a server only to discover it is running Oz Deathmatch, I'm like "WTF", and then I leave. Does anyone here actually like Oz? All I see is a bunch of pointless modifications to the weapons and gay looking 'runes'. And the sparkly/shiny magically delicious colors on players with runes looks pretty gay too, imo.

I don't like any of the dm mods except AG, since AG doesn't really add or change anything. The worst one is where everybody starts off with an enhanced damage shotgun, cant remember the name of the mod, but it sucks. The only change I like being made is the removal of the gluon.

I believe that would be Severian's HL mod, Jeff. It sucks. OzDM can be really fun or really stupid, depending on the settings the server uses. Back in the day I would play OzDM constantly on good servers that left the guns mostly the same but kept the runes and the hook. It was awesome, and more fun than regular DM. Nowadays though most servers run it at retarded settings, giving people the silenced mp5 with a shotgun and a one hit kill pistol and ignoring the fun aspects of the mod like the runes and the hook. Kinda like how in UT every deathmatch server eventually degenerates into instagib, every HLDM server has to put on a mod that ruins the gameplay balance and makes it pointless.

i remember when i tested this and i loved it, the ball hook thing ruled and invisible tripmines were scary

I always seemed to increase the egion ammo and vastly decrease its damage.

as for runes, NO cloaking runes for me thankyou! i got scared S***less with that on xfire and aoedm1 so i removed it, least now you can have Custom model ones

I like to play OzDM now and then. It's a nice variation on standard HLDM. In fact, I haven't played it so much to get really irritated by any rune or modification specific. Ah, well, maybe I should play more and map less...

OzDM is nothing more than a serverside mod for DM that allows for pretty much total customization of HLDM. You can change the weapon damage, firing rate, sound, ammo, the player speed, the inclusion of certain weapons and items, the list goes on. It also adds the hook and the runes. It's not something you would go and download to play offline. Also, the quality of an OzDM game depends entirely upon the custom settings of the server, some have good settings but most have s**tty settings that unbalance the game and let veteran killboxers have their fun. It's a crapshoot to find a good server.

Oz Deathmatch rocks  The grappling hook and however the weapons have been modded always make for an interesting game.

I wouldn't recommend it if you can't hold your own in a fairly good standard HLDM match though, it is a wee bit more intense than HLDM on most servers  Good for practice though, shame it's a bit late to be practicing HLDM skills

If you want to be good at HLDM, you play AG, not OZ.

It's hilarious when an AG player joins a normal HLDM or OZ match and everybody accuses them of cheating because they can't imagine another player being that much better than them

i play rarely, understand that up front.

i also consider myself pretty good, considering i can't play long.

with that said, i have played people who were gods at it, how they acquired the skill is unimportant IMO, i don't feel any certain mod did it.

if cheating were not possible, no one could accuse people of doing it, but we all know that cheating was possible in the past, i am unsure if the latest patches has made it improbable though.

point in fact, the guy who did the HL in less than 1 hour movie.. he did nearly impossible feats.. i can only assume that since the movie was heavily edited that he only put into the movie, the shots that worked.. the 100% accuracy he demonstrated was.... difficult to accept.

anywhos, i have seen gods play, and cheating was on my lips the entire frag, but i kept it to myself.

OZ deathmatch rules, nothing has ever compared to it, save OP4

I can understand what you are saying, and it makes it even more clear why some people shout 'cheat'. I must be in the bottom 10% of AG players, but several times a whole server has emptied because they all thought I was cheating... I'm not even good. Then I go play AG, and I get completely owned. So if I'm playing I'm either getting completely destroyed, or being called cheat - neither of these are very fun

how can what i wrote be confusing.. i play poorly compared to a god.. but i also realize that not everyone who plays better than i does so legally.

also, i prefer OZ, i see no reason to justify that like, if you prefer AG, thats cool beans, i won't attempt to dissuade you.

anywhos, its clear if i read it, i cannot retype it and make it more so.. sorry.

It's even more fun to join a 10 v 10 game of CS, buy only a FiveseveN pistol and then go on to kill 12 people in two rounds, winning them both for your team. Immediately after the second round getting votekicked out for hacking, rejoin and proceed to kill 5 people with only a pistol and get votekicked out again. I was on fire that day.

EDIT: Orph, get some sleep. He said he can understand what you're saying.

well, oz is great for my, especially the runes. custom maps and runes make for some great gameplay.

oh, along with those weapon mods.
