I go everywhere by bike. Most people will go for the odd bike ride now and again, and when it comes to get off the bike, they are all 'ah, nice to be off the saddle'. For me, I'll ride my bike somewhere, walk around, and then when I get back to the bike, I'm all 'ah, nice to be back on the saddle'

In Manchester, we have a metrolink system. I live around 10 minutes away from one station, so it's very easy to get around the city using this. So really it's just a combination of this and walking that gets me around.

Well, it's not actually a subway, it's an overground thing. But it's the same thing really,, except it runs around the middle of the streets. Think of it like the cable car system in San Francisco, except faster, useful and a lot less queuing up. Oh, and less bloody tourists.

I own a Ford F-150 P/u truck. Guess I have been driving Pick ups for about 11 years now. I use them in my work and at my house for remodel purposes(Lumber, drywall, etc). The only drawback is that family members always call when they need something picked up.

They're called light rail.

In Oregon the public transportation system's (TRIMet) Light rail is called MAX. Pretty gay though, because it costs almost 2 bucks and takes forever because there are so many stops. It's faster to drive and sit in traffic (and the transportation committee wonders why the hell no one uses it  ).

By the way, in case anyone cares, the mayor of Portland, Vera Kats, has cancer. And I say good; I hope that bitch dies.

There's a lot of s**t her and her ass-raped committee should be doing better and aren't.

<DIV>Come to Melbourne, then you'll know about trams, they're everywhere in the city centre. The guys who run the job have also decided to be nice and give free rides on the "City Loop" tram, further increasing popularity. Hell, we even have a crazy road rule called a "hook turn" (you have to turn left if you want to turn right), which, weird as it may sound, actually makes it easier to travel when dealing with trams.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Plus, down here, they're not slow - they go at about the speed of a bus which skips all the traffic. Quite useful, really.</DIV>
<DIV>.</DIV>
<DIV>Apart from the trams, though, the public transport system here in Melbourne is horrible. You can get from place to place on it, if you don't mind a series of 15-minute walks and you live within 20km of the city centre, but the trains and buses are horribly infrequent. Probably because the system is going bankrupt... THANKS KENNETT!!! </DIV>

This question is a bit skewed. It asks what our preferred method of transportation is...but then it says if we had the money for it. Because personally I like walking, biking and public transit. But if I had the free money to support it I'd buy a nice truck. (not an SUV, a real truck.)

I drive me a '90 F150. It's my father's, but with the cost of gas and the non-necessity of needing a truck, it's just there when I need it. I love it though, my dad's a carpenter/cabinetmaker so it gets used for lumber, furniture and the like. As well as garden duties. I think its nickname "The Beast" suits it well.

I'm in Adelaide and I use the bus. The bus system in Adelaide is good, provided you know how everything works. Theres a cool set of tracks, like... train tracks for buses, made of concrete... Gets me to the city centre in about half an hour where it would normally take 40min to an hour by car.
Fast Facts

<P align=left>
[list]
[*] At 12 kilometres long, the Adelaide O-Bahn is the longest and fastest guided bus service in the world.
[*] More than 7 million passengers a year, including local, interstate and overseas visitors, use the O-Bahn. The system is capable of moving 18,000 people an hour in each direction.
[*] The busway consists of 5,800 sleepers, 5,600 pylons drilled to a depth of 3 metres, 4,200 track pieces, 25 bridges, 8 pedestrian overpasses and a 60 metre-long tunnel.
[*] Compared with equivalent rail systems, the O-Bahn is almost 50 per cent cheaper to operate while providing a faster, more flexible service than many other transit systems.
[*] At the time of building, the entire O-Bahn project, (including the bus fleet) cost $98 million

I live near Sydney and the public transport is terrible trains always run late (or not at all, sometimes replaced by busses), (and now the government says that 10min late is actually not late  )
busses are not much better and in quite a state of disrepair, The light
rail (tram) system howeve is quite good as well as the monorail. The
government were deciding wether to build one of those mag-lev super
fast trains linking Sydney to the South East Coast & Canberra
region but now that is not going to happen
