Inspired by the Snarkpit Christmas game, I used some open-source editor
to program another snarkpit game. It's called "SnarkRanch", and features great fun & good music. This is an Alpha
version.

Check it out for yourself

http://www.snarkpit.com/pits/forceflow/snarkranch.htm

(I'll paste the info as an image, I am too lazy to copy it. Press F1 during the game to see this text. )

And a screenshot (real version's bigger, don't worry)

I just chose the members of which I had a clear photo. No harm intended.

For the next versions, I'm going to splatch down some bugs and make the
game harder/easier if necessary, you guys tell me. Maybe I'll add some
more levels later on, too.

Well I got bored at 1000 and gave up at 5000 having never been
penalised. It was worth it to see the disembodied heads though.

At request of reno, I'm making it harder now. You can't touch those
cowboys with your cursor ... so you probably have to wait for the right
moment.

Indeed, it was a bit too easy.

New version up in 2 mins.

edit new version up.

Another update is up, introducing the green snark to reset all the
snark speeds to normal. Call it a bonus. Thx again to Reno for the tip.

I noticed some people find the game a bit too easy.

How about this system ?

Every level, you get 2 minutes to rack up your score. After that, the level changes ( new map) (and the game gets harder.)

I don't get it. A green thing rushes around on screen. Occasionally you loose marks. Clicking doesn't seem to do anything.

Hehe, I looked at the source first. I thought someone hax0rred my info.

Anyway, I did an update.
  • Changed Lep & Cass' speeds. (lol, this sounds funny.)

  • Randomized movements of snarks/cowboys
  • cowboys hitboxes = bigger now
  • Fixed penalty bug (you could avoid penalty by just keeping still
when a cowboy passed over your cursor. bad luck, you cheaters  )

This game has no element of danger. There's nothing that makes you stop playing, and the heads are ridiculously easy to avoid. My suggestions:
  • Save High Score clears your score back to zero - this creates a gamble of do you cash in or keep going for something bigger, knowing Lep's still running around.
  • As you click on the snarks and they get faster, a corresponding head should speed up, with the green snark reseting head speed as well as snark speed.
  • Bonuses in dangerous areas - like the fruits in Pac-Man, you need to travel into enemy territory to grab em. In this case, enemy territory would be the less protected interior of the map. Right now, it's easy to just move the cursor out of the playing field. I think the bonuses should also be valued depending on how fast the snarks are moving - a bonus for taking the risk of faster heads by not hitting the green snark.

I could fix the high score table, and do the bonuses.

I'll think of speeding up the cowboys too.

Also, I'll try to make a border so you can't move your mouse out of the
game area. If it's not programmable, I'll just make you lose points if
you do get out of the area

Ty for your comments.

Ok I haven't played it yet (I'll give more comments when I have), but I think that Lep should be replaced with someone else, and a semi story put into the game. Like "Leperous has lost his snarks from his pit and needs your help to round 'em back up!"

Also add more levels with different colours, and later levels could have more snarks which do stuff like shoot back or something, maybe have a damsel in distress character that you have to stop the snarks getting at?
