Minuz over at the HLCCL has said he is putting all the contest maps onto the PC clan server tonight, so if you fancy a shot on the new maps then pay it a visit sometime this evening! Here are the details...

Pure Chaos AG6.6 #=pc= [TDM]|40ms|131.211.231.89:27020

Its normally passworded by Minuz said it won't be tonight  You may notice its running AG, which is a nice HLDM mod that allows loads of server tweaks, new game modes (including CTF, which features maps by Andrew Weldon, Finger, Cash Car Star and myself) and the like. Quite a lot of HLDM servers are running this mod so its worth grabbing. And I'm afraid you will need it to play on the server

http://www.planethalflife.com/agmod

I think its fairly small as far as mods go

I've been watching this server all evening but there doesn't seem to be anything happening... Unless "this evening" is the Half-Life player standard for lateness, i.e. 3am

i downloaded and installed agmod. i seen on the website that it doesn't like adware, so i done all the necessary scans and got rid of some cookies.

everything appeared to go fine, and 'Adrenalin Gamer Steam' is now added to my 3rd party games list. i open it and find a server to join, but just as i'm about to enter the game at the 'parsing game info' bit(which i think is the last bit), i get dropped back the the list of servers with no error message.

i know some servers are running versions other than the current v6.6 that i have, so i made sure i was trying the right ones.

i suppose i better go and try installing it again.

well, according to norton av, spybot s&d, adaware, and trojan hunter, my comp's as clean as a whistle.

so after uninstalling agmod, and re-installing with an .exe from one of the other mirrors, i was hoping that it might let me join a game. looks like it just doesn't like me though, 'cause it still drops me right as i'm about to spawn.

Well guys the server WAS working for me, and to get our contest maps you need to vote for them with "vote changelevel <mapname>", and have most of the people in the server write "yes" in the console. Unfortunately it now seems to have a password on it, think they are now having a clan match of something, considering they have changed mode to the clanbase cup server settings

I think Ferret's server is still up though. He just needs to install some sort of map-voting mod methinks.

yup, map voting would be good.

i think all the comp maps are on it too. i looked for maps with 'dm' in their names, and it looked like all the comp maps with dm in got listed.

Ok guys, the PC server runs fine for most people, though as Fishy said you need to be sure you have no adware of spyware, as they can screw up the cheat detection and get you kicked out. More details can be found on the AG website...

http://www.planethalflife.com/agmod

The server now has a password on it, but its the "standard" AG password of "hlclan". Apparently servers run with this as it means they get the server for cheaper as opposed to using it to keep people out, so unless its obvious the clan is having a match in there there you should be welcome.

As I mentioned before, the contest maps aren't in the map rotation, but they can be voted on by using the following console command...

vote changelevel <mapname>

You must then get the majority of the server to enter "yes" in the console to agree with the vote. Other settings can be changed by vote also, such as changing game mode to things such as "arena" or "arcade", with the following command...

vote <mode>

Arena is a 1on1 mode, winner stays on style, in which you always spawn with full inventory. Arcade mode is all players at once, but you spawn with all weapons and armour and get restocked by killing somebody. These modes are good for maps with poor weapon placement (such as my level!).

Meh, I'm turning this into an AG tutorial it seems, so I'll stop there. Would be good to get a playtest sometime today or tonight though, so if anyone is up for it post here.

EDIT: Seems I was wrong about the password, thought it was hlclan but apparently not  I don't know what it is, but chances are if its not hlclan then its up to keep the server restricted to members only. Sorry!

Hi all, it was me who got Minuz to post it about PC server cause i'm banned on those forums :dorky:

I've uploaded about 1250-1300 maps on PC server, including the ones of the competition. If you have any questions (server related, adding maps, etc) you can contact me in irc: irc.quakenet.org. channel #=pc=

If the server is passworded and not used, drop by in #=pc= and ask somebody to unlock it

Sounds like a good idea to me, perhaps a little later though to allow
the American's to get on at a reasonable time? I'll make myself
available anytime from 10pm onwards though.
