As many people have come to realize, Half-life 2 and Halo 2 are 2 of the most anticipated games of this year. And, at that, they realease within weeks apart  . My question is, which game do you think will be better? I ask this because several people claim that Halo 2 will beat Half-life 2, evan though I know half-Life 2 will blow Halo 2 away. Which shall win? it's up to you.

I agree with KFS, I guess. Either way, it doesn't really matter because each will be "better" in someone else's eyes. Hell, even if a poll says 70% of people like Half-Life 2 more than Halo 2, it doesn't mean that it's better, it means that 70% of people like HL2 more than H2, that's it.

I'm not judging until I play both.

Define 'better'! Halo 2 could be more fun, with seemingly better vehicle battles and obviously better deathmatch from the onset  but perhaps not so "technological" and involving as HL2.

Halo 2 lost as soon as that fool got a tatoo of the release date in my eyes.

There should be no doubt as to which will be better. That doesn't mean Halo2 won't be a great game though.

am I the only person who thought halo was boring, generic and uninspiring - and media hype gave it all it's oomph?

I enjoyed Halo a whole lot, but its certainly not all that a lot of
people make it out to be. I've been in too many Halo arguments to
really care to be in another though, so I'll leave it at just giving my
quick opinion  It was a breakthrough for console FPS's though,
despite its shortcomings, and was visually astounding at the time.

GB lets not go that far to say HL1's gameplay was better than halo's cause it wasn't.
And whats this mean: "Including your ubber super duper Doom3 +P" from your last post....

Halo Game play = Tedious and Ridiculously Repetitive, yet fun at times.
Half-Life Game play = Awesome. The difficult parts make you want to play more.
I think the main difference is, I can recognize an area of the game from someone else describing it. With Halo, you'd have to describe what the mission was, because everything looks the same (for the most part).
HL had more variety and it took place in a facility. What is Halo's excuse? it had at least two planets.
As for a HL2 vs H2 contrast. Come on. Halo 2 looks almost identical to Halo 1, except, you're in a human city.
HL2 looks nothing like HL1. There are similarities, but, only things that worked well in the first game.
If anything, Halo 2 looks like a supped up expansion pack.
But, seriously, Halo is fun ... in small doses.

I always wanted to play Halo. But then again, I don't have an Xbox :dorky: It did look much better than the PC Half-Life (the PS2 HL is somewhat arguable). But did Halo have any kind of "presentation" to it? It wasn't just a fancy Quake2? Right? RIGHT?

KFS, I wasn't talking about graphics, the gameplay looks practically the same.
I mistook the beginning of the game for a planet, I forgot that you're just on a ship. .
And technically, because the game does take place on a mechanical ring, that's not a planet. Just a really big unnatural habitat, or there could be some funky theory in the game, I don't know I haven't played it all the way through.
GB: No, as far as I remember, Halo had a pretty decent story for the most part. I think the game was rushed for the Xbox launch so they didn't get to do everything they wanted. If you really want to play it, just play it on your computer. Just remember to turn VSYNC ON, because the models are at 30fps

Everyone seems to be concentrating on the single player portion of the game, when the real meat of the game was in the multiplayer, that is where the game shined. When can anyone remember playing a 8vs8 war that could last for hours? And no one say UT because its not a console game (except for the lame x-box port which wasnt that great either). And I dont care what anyone says, cause Halo was a great game, and the actual HL2 vs Halo2 is really anyone's game, it just so happens ill be exploring HL2's world while Halo 2 is released.

Halo shined only in coop mode. That was seriously awesome.
But I will settle the argument between HL multi and Halo multi with another simple response: How bout that level design?
Seriously, would you rather play Datacore or that stupid one hallway level? Bounce or Hang 'em High? Stalkyard or Rat Race? Would you even want to play that lame teleporter level? The greatest gameplay in the world can't overcome crappy level design. The only good map is Blood Gulch, and that's a CTF map for crying out loud.

The thing I noticed about Halo is that, in multiplayer it's more fun to do s**t with the vehicles then to go around endlessly killing/getting killed respawning and running back accross the map to do it all over again.
My friends and I always play chicken and with the Warthogs, then like cheating f**ks they jump in the tank ... bitches.
